I’m Nellie, a beautiful tri-color beagle looking for the beagle-lovers out there!I came to the Humane Society of York County when a kind person found me as a stray, emaciated and freezing. I’m a medium-size young girl, about 20-25 pounds, and my estimated birth date is December 2024.I’m getting much-needed TLC with a foster family, and they say I’m going to be a wonderful pet in my forever home. I’m doing well with my house-training and do great on my walks. He’s even-keeled and easygoing, walks well in a harness, and is working on not saying hi to every passerby (though he’s friendly and gentle when invited!). He loves a good nap but gets just as excited for long walks and playtime. Mozzie does great in his crate and isn’t destructive outside of it. He’s not big on toys, but anything edible? She adores people, loves to play, and fills her foster home with joy through all the classic puppy antics that make you laugh and fall in love daily. Her past is already fading as she embraces her new life with an open heart and a wagging tail. Lovey is bright, food-motivated, and eager to learn, which has made training a wonderful experience. She is crate trained, learning leash skills, and doing great with potty training both outdoors and on pee pads. She approaches every new lesson with enthusiasm, clearly wanting to please and connect with her people. Lovey is expected to grow into a 30–35 pound adult with a rich golden short coat and the sweetest, most expressive face. Viola is a beautiful soul that we think is about 3 year old and a Beagle mix girl. This black and white beauty with adorable speckled legs and a sweet She only weighs 20 lbs and has the sweetest smile and absolutely loves people. She was found as a stray that was taken to the shelter very scared and almost shutdown while there. Her human mother died and Viola is now 5 years old. Unfortunately we don’t really know her story, but we feel there is some trauma there in her past. It takes her a little bit to get used to people and even longer for dogs. She wants a safe place to observe (wire crate suggested) till she figures it out. Her foster kept her behind a gate and her bed was her safe place. For a few days she would growl through the gate at the other dogs but after that it was over. We would leave the gate open and she would venture out and if she got nervous she would go back to her safe place. She is never ugly to the other dogs at her foster and if one of the Chihuahuas was mean to her, she just ignored her. We have her using puppy pads because there is no fenced yard. Viola would definetly need a fenced yard so she can safely explore and have potty breaks. The outdoors makes her nervous still. She loves her people immensely and adores kids but older ones are best. If you want to help and REALLY rescue a dog them Viola would be forever indebted to you.
