Story
Finley may be eight years young, but his sweet face and slow-moving pace tell you he has lived a bit of a hard life before finding safety. Now that he is in foster, he has officially entered his soft-life era, and he is excelling at it. Finley is a completely deaf gentleman who lives life entirely in the slow lane, and he is looking for a relaxed retirement home where he can finally be the center of someone’s world. He has so much gentle affection left to give, and he asks for very little in return—just a warm spot to sleep, a patient heart, and plenty of snacks.
A typical day with Finley is a lesson in enjoying the little things. He starts every single morning by making the most adorable, heartfelt happy noises the second he is let out of his kennel. It is a joyful soundtrack that makes it impossible to start your day in a bad mood. For most of the day, Finley is a master of the slow, sauntering stroll—unless food is involved. The moment breakfast or dinner enters the picture, his inner "speed demon" turns on, or at least his hilarious, heartwarming version of speed. When he isn't waiting for a meal, you can usually find him outside practicing his favorite hobby: absolute devotion to sunbathing and sniffing every blade of grass in the yard.
Finley is an incredibly easygoing roommate who gets along with just about everyone, making him a seamless addition to a multi-pet home. He currently lives peacefully with a 70 lb dog, a 20 lb dog, and two tiny kittens. While you shouldn’t expect him to engage in a game of chase or wrestle with other animals, he is a masterful co-exister who brings zero drama to the table. He is completely crate trained and loves to sleep soundly in his kennel at night, as long as it is placed in the same room as you so he knows his humans are close by. During the day, he prefers to be out and about, choosing between being a total couch-bound snuggle bug or snoozing in his dedicated dog bed right next to where you are sitting.
Because of his past, Finley does have a few special quirks that require a patient forever family. His new home should also be relatively low on obstacles; while he can slowly navigate going up a flight of stairs, going down them is too tough for his legs, so he needs a setup where he can avoid descending steps. If you take him out for a walk on a leash, leave your fast-walking shoes behind. A walk with Finley is all about the journey, not the destination. He needs a family who is happy to pause, give him a moment to take the world in, and move at his beautiful, steady pace.
Finley is a resilient, loving boy who just needs a quiet corner and a loving hand to live out his best years.
