Story
Cooper is a loving, curious, and sweet old man, but he also is sensitive. He loves to be pet but be careful around his ears, hips and feet or else he will yelp. He has some patience, but he cannot handle being around small children who do not understand boundaries. If he is pinched, pulled on, or bitten he may retaliate. I love this dog quite a bit, but I cannot keep my toddler away from him without containing him behind a gate or closed off in a room which is not fair to him. If he is locked away in another room or left outside, he will bark endlessly. He wants to be where the people are, even if all he chooses to do is sleep in your presence. Cooper needs an owner who is easy going, likes to walk, likes to give pets, and has patience. He can be loud when he sees another dog or a new person in the home but he is friendly. He would be fine around grown kids who will not harass him, but toddlers are a definite no-go. He has bitten my toddler (lightly) and we cannot risk it again.

Story
Sophie, a 9-year-old beagle mix, is the ultimate social butterfly—she adores dogs, cats, people, and even carrots! She’s happiest on a stroll but also enjoys neighborhood watch duty from her favorite cozy spot. Though she was recently diagnosed with diabetes, she’s doing well with insulin management. Her BFF, Scout, is a 10-year-old shih tzu mix who started life in a puppy mill, making her a bit shy around humans. But when it comes to dogs—especially Sophie—Scout is all in. Scout enjoys walks alongside Sophie, though she prefers to avoid grass.Sophie is potty-trained, while Scout prefers using a potty pad due to lingering effects from her early life. Both are up to date on vaccines and looking for a home filled with love. Can you give this loveable, bonded pair a safe space? If you are interested in fostering, adopting, or fostering to adopt these besties, we`d love to hear from you!

Story
Marigold is living in a foster home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This beautiful adult female beagle was recently welcomed into our foster program. No age or weight was given at this time. She was vaccinated, microchipped and seen by a vet prior to her release to our rescue, so for her safety, she’ll be kept away from other dogs and outdoor spaces to give their immune systems time to adjust. Each girl is settling into a cozy bed in a loving foster home and that’s a dream come true. Once she receives complete medical care, she’ll be ready for a cozy bed in her forever home. We are accepting applications at this time, but not providing a timeline for adoption. Patience is her #1 need. Interested in adoption? The first step is an application at paddyspaws.blogspot.com. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Our rescue adopts to Wisconsin and Illinois. Our requirements for Illinois applications are: excellent vet history, no children under 7 in the home, and an owned home. Wisconsin does not have these requirements, though we will not consider applications where pets are missing core veterinary care. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $250.
