Story
Meet Rusty! Age: Senior Weight: 40 lbs Breed: Beagle mix Good with: dogs and kids (also goats and chickens!) House trained: Yes Rusty is a happy, friendly pup who is looking for a forever home where he can be loved and where there’s yummy smells (typical Beagle 🙂 ). Rusty loves meeting new people and is dog and kid friendly, this silly boy is up for anything! He enjoys tagging along on car rides, spending lots of time napping in a cozy spot and following his nose! He is a sweet, tolerant pup who is just happy to be near his people Rusty enjoys going on walks, but would also benefit from a yard if you have one. Any opportunity to go on a sniffari is time well spent, according to Rusty. As a senior dog, Rusty isn’t immune to some age related concerns. He previously had a mass removed from his abdomen before he was an ADL dog and while it doesn’t cause him discomfort, it’s something to monitor in the future. This does not slow him down one bit and he’s still happy to be your travel buddy! Rusty is a well mannered pup who is incredibly food motivated. He’s happy to show off some commands and would appreciate any treats that come his way. He’s the perfect mix of eager side kick and happy lounger. He is a laid back pup who enjoys the simple things in life and is hoping to be a cherished family member (and taste tester), does this sound like a good fit for you? Story
Bryon is the best snuggle buddy. He loves to lounge in the sunshine, spend time outside and play. He is smaller for the breed, about 20 lbs. He is healthy and active. He is great with young kids and other dogs/cats. Bryon is the sweetest & most loyal companion. It breaks our hearts to rehome him. Our work schedules changed and require too much travel. He is such a family pup who deserves a family that can spend time with him and give him all the love he deserves.

Story
Update: Meet Malia, a beautiful Beagle mix who has grown up at Helping Paws after arriving as a tiny puppy just a few weeks old. Having spent her whole life at the shelter, Malia has formed a special bond with a staff member, showing just how loyal and loving she can be once she trusts you. She’s the kind of dog who becomes your shadow, always by your side, ready to be your most devoted companion.Malia is incredibly food- and treat-motivated, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. She’s a quick learner who enjoys mental challenges like puzzle toys and is always eager to pick up a new skill. She walks beautifully on a leash (most of the time) and absolutely loves her daily walks, but like many dogs who have grown up in a shelter, she’ll need a little help with potty training once she’s in a home environment.Though Malia can be a bit wary of strangers at first, her cautiousness comes from her desire to protect her people. That said, she wouldn’t hurt a fly she just needs a moment to assess new situations and feel safe. With patience and love, she’ll warm up and show you her sweet, goofy side.Malia is waiting for a forever family to give her the home she’s never had a place where she can truly shine as the loyal, intelligent, and loving dog she was always meant to be.Meet Malia, a spirited and intelligent Beagle mix who’s been at Helping Paws since she was just a couple of weeks old. She was adopted for a brief time, but her family soon realized they weren’t quite ready for her playful energy and brought her back. When Malia first returned, she was a bit timid and shy, and she may still come across that way when meeting potential adopters in the quieter meet-and-greet rooms. Don’t let that initial shyness fool you—outside of those rooms, Malia is a total social butterfly!Malia absolutely adores her doggie friends and human pals. She’s a little protective, so if she sees someone unfamiliar on the street, her hackles might go up, and her big-girl bark might come out—but it’s just her way of keeping an eye out for those she loves. Her favorite activity at the shelter is running and playing in the yard, where her energetic personality truly shines. She also enjoys her treat puzzles, which keep her sharp mind engaged and busy.Malia walks well on a leash, although she can’t resist a bit of pulling when there are people or other dogs around—she’s simply eager to meet them! Story
About Me: Name:Sam and/or Dean Breed (or best guess): Puggle Approximate Age: 3 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 40-50 lb Adoption Fee: $495 each or $800 for both (Reduced to $250 each or $400 both) Requirements: Loving family Why In Rescue: Owner Surrender Profile:  Sam and Dean were adopted as puppies from rescue, but since then the family has developed allergies and needed to rehome their dogs.  Sam and Dean are happy, loving dogs.  They are playful and get along with children, cats, and other dogs.  Sam does get a little protective of his food so needs to be fed separately, but otherwise does great with other animals.  They love getting attention, and will keep your yard rabbit free!  We were told they are housetrained, but after being in the shelter, they may need a refresher course.  Sam and Dean can be adopted separately or together, so we are offering a discount for adopting these buddies together.  They are current on their vet care and are just waiting for a family to love them!   We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS April 10, 2025, 5:21 pm
