Story
Sydney is a Mama dog that is about 1 year old. Her previous owner told the shelter he left her and her 2 day old puppies at, that she is a Beagle/great Pyranese mix. She was not treated well at her previous home and is very human shy. We are working hard, along with her great foster home, to show her what love and care are. Her pups are tri colored and will be available in February. If you have any questions on Mama or pups or would like to make a donation to their care, please contact us.

Story
Hi! My name is Nash, I am a 7 month old, 22lb and growing small/medium breed hound mix - maybe beagle, treeing walker or maybe basset? My 2 brothers and I were found in a ditch in Tennessee and sent to rescue. We came pretty sick and have gained our strength and are ready to take on the world! My foster mom says that I’ve come a long way since I arrived too afraid for people to touch me, now I am the first to greet her every morning or hop into a strangers laps especially kids! I even love going to soccer and baseball games to meet all the new people there. I have also perfected the art of puppy kisses and will lick your face if you hold me. My happiest place is playing with my dog friends and my brothers and BOY do I LOVE food!! If you drop it I promise you, I will sniff it out and eat it quickly! I also love my peanut butter kong when it’s time to go in my crate or wind down. I absolutely love to run and wrestle and play tug of war with our fancy rope toys or any ball insight! Turkey tendons are my favorite chew and sleeping next to you or a furry friend is my favorite place to be. I am a sweet boy and very affectionate and will seek out someone to cuddle dog or human. I am the first to run to my foster mom when she calls my name. And love to play with my foster families kids! I am already quite smart and social! I love my 6 foster dog friends especially the pittie mix and the Aussie who take turns being my mama! I’ve met my grandma’s chi and he was so fun too so were her cats and am very respectful of their corrections. I appropriately greet new dogs and have been a puppy rockstar at our adoption events saying hello to everyone. I love children even being held by them gently in their laps and have met those 2-17. I’ve trained foster human kids to chase and play fetch with me. I am a smart boy and doing very well pottying outside with routine, sleep in my crate and stay quiet at night and wake my foster mom up at 6 to go potty and eat. I have learned to “sit” “touch”, down” and are working on recall and I do also know my name. If you are looking for chiller pup who loves to play and be around other dogs and kids Nash is your perfect pair! While he doesn’t have to be on top of you or always carried he loves his humans and fur friends and actively seeks their attention! Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal test, deworming, current on flea and tick preventative, and microchip. To ensure the best match for both our dogs and adopters, we require a fully completed adoption application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with the entire household. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption and does not obligate you to adopt; it simply allows us to begin the review process. To request an application or for additional details, please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to approve or decline any adoption application based on the best interest of the dog.

Story
Timber is a happy-go-lucky little adventurer with a heart as big as his puppy smile. This adorable German Shepherd/Beagle mix is always ready for fun, whether he's exploring the yard, chasing toys, or soaking up attention from everyone he meets. With his expressive eyes, wagging white-tipped tail, and contagious enthusiasm, Timber has a way of making every day feel a little brighter. Timber loves to be where the action is. He's curious about the world around him, enjoys making new friends, and approaches life with confidence and excitement. Whether he's romping through the grass, investigating every new scent, or happily bouncing over to say hello, his playful personality shines through in everything he does. If you're looking for a puppy who will fill your home with laughter, love, and endless adventures, Timber is ready to steal your heart. Weight: Growing puppy (expected medium size) Energy Level: Moderate – playful, curious, and always ready for his next adventure. Personality & Temperament: Happy, affectionate, outgoing, playful, curious, and incredibly people-oriented, Timber loves attention and thrives on spending time with his family. He's confident without being overbearing and has the perfect balance of playful energy and sweet cuddles. His joyful personality, goofy grin, and loving nature make him the kind of puppy that quickly becomes everyone's best friend. Compatibility: One of the biggest advantages of adopting a puppy at this age is that they are still developing their personalities and learning about the world around them. With proper guidance, socialization, and positive experiences, they grow into well-adjusted companions who adapt beautifully to a variety of homes, people, children, and other animals. Puppies this young are compatible with dogs, cats, and children because they are still in a critical stage of development and are eager to learn. At this age, they're essentially a blank slate, making it the ideal time to introduce them to new experiences and help shape them into confident, well-rounded adults. The greater consideration is ensuring resident pets are accepting of a young puppy and that children understand how to gently and respectfully interact with one. As with any new pet, introductions should always be gradual and supervised to help everyone adjust safely and successfully. Training & Skills: Timber is still a young puppy and will need continued work with house manners, crate training, leash training, and basic obedience. As a German Shepherd/Beagle mix, he's expected to be intelligent, eager to learn, and motivated by praise, play, and positive reinforcement. With consistency, patience, and plenty of encouragement, he'll grow into a wonderful lifelong companion. Special Skills: Professional smile-maker, expert backyard explorer, and certified tail-wagging happiness ambassador. Timber has mastered the art of making people fall in love with him in just a few seconds and believes every new day is another opportunity for fun. Adoption Requirements (if applicable): Timber will need a family committed to providing continued training, socialization, daily exercise, and plenty of opportunities for enrichment as he grows. A securely fenced yard is preferred but not required, provided his family can meet his physical and mental exercise needs. Fun Facts / Quirks: Timber is famous for his adorable puppy grin, expressive little eyebrows, and constantly wagging white-tipped tail. He's naturally curious, loves exploring every inch of the yard, and has an uncanny ability to make people smile wherever he goes. Whether he's chasing toys, discovering something new, or simply soaking up belly rubs, Timber reminds everyone that life is meant to be enjoyed. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate companion who will grow into a loyal best friend, fill your home with laughter, and always be ready for the next adventure, Timber is waiting to meet you. 👉 Apply today: Adoption Application Can Be Found Under the Forms Tab at www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org
