This sweet little girl should have had a fairy tale life based on what her adoptive family told us when they selected her as a puppy. She went home with the family when she was two months old. The family had a house, children, and another Malinois. However, at the end of 2025, Coastal GSR received an email from a shelter letting us know that they found Athena roaming around as a stray. When we tried to find her family, it was like they vanished from the face of the earth. The house was sold, the people were gone, and no one was missing Athena. Athena came back to Coastal GSR and re-joined our family. A family that would never give up on her. She is still a bit bewildered about what happened to her but she has been settling in and enjoying walks and ball playing with our volunteers. The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. They were being given away 'free to good home' and were rescued by an animal lover who didn't want to see them land in the wrong hands! Fiona settled into the kennel life very easily and charmed her way into the hearts of all of the volunteers. She needed treatment for a cancerous tumor that she likely got when she became pregnant with her pups. The good news here is that she is done with her treatments and has been cancer free for over 6 months! Yay for Fiona! Fiona would love a home to call her own. She has been to obedience training, knows all her basic commands and walks well on a leash. She would do best in a home with older kids and no other dogs or cats. She loves car rides and would love an active lifestyle! If Fiona sounds like a fit for you, please let us know. We would love to chat with you about Fiona! Cairo came to us from a high-kill shelter where he was battling a URI (upper respiratory infection). With dedicated veterinary care, he's now completely healthy, neutered, fully vaccinated, and bursting with life. What started as a second chance has turned into the discovery of one of the most delightful, un-Malinois-like Malinois you'll ever meet. While the breed is famous for intense drive, laser focus, and excelling in high-stakes work like police and military roles, Cairo is the charming exception that proves the rule. He actually failed police academy—not for any lack of intelligence or ability, but because he was far more interested in playing fetch, chasing toys, and making friends than in the serious business of bitework and patrols. His trainers couldn't help but laugh: this smart, capable dog just wanted to have fun! Cairo is very playful yet remarkably smart—he picks up commands lightning-fast and has mastered all the basics (and then some). He's fully house trained, leash trained, and responds eagerly to cues like sit, stay, down, come, and more. But his favorite thing? Curling up right next to you, laying his head in your lap, or sprawling out for belly rubs and quiet companionship. He's the ultimate velcro dog who thrives on being close to his people. This litter was rescued out of a home that had 5 adult intact dogs and ended up w a surprise litter of puppies. We pulled the litter from the home and within 5 hours they started to show signs of Parvo. We immediately started treatment on 2 that’s were sick and got antibody injections for the other 4 as well. Only one other required hospitalization after that. All 6 survived and are now healthy and happy and ready to go to their new homes. They will be about 12 weeks at adoption.
