This sweet little girl should have had a fairy tale life based on what her adoptive family told us when they selected her as a puppy. She went home with the family when she was two months old. The family had a house, children, and another Malinois. However, at the end of 2025, Coastal GSR received an email from a shelter letting us know that they found Athena roaming around as a stray. When we tried to find her family, it was like they vanished from the face of the earth. The house was sold, the people were gone, and no one was missing Athena. Athena came back to Coastal GSR and re-joined our family. A family that would never give up on her. She is still a bit bewildered about what happened to her but she has been settling in and enjoying walks and ball playing with our volunteers. The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.February 28, 2026, 5:56 am

They were being given away 'free to good home' and were rescued by an animal lover who didn't want to see them land in the wrong hands! Fiona settled into the kennel life very easily and charmed her way into the hearts of all of the volunteers. She needed treatment for a cancerous tumor that she likely got when she became pregnant with her pups. The good news here is that she is done with her treatments and has been cancer free for over 6 months! Yay for Fiona! Fiona would love a home to call her own. She has been to obedience training, knows all her basic commands and walks well on a leash. She would do best in a home with older kids and no other dogs or cats. She loves car rides and would love an active lifestyle! If Fiona sounds like a fit for you, please let us know. We would love to chat with you about Fiona! I am a female, Belgian Malinois mix and around 3 yrs young. I play well with other dogs of all sizes, I'm ok with cats & children. Sometimes I do like chasing squirrels though because they sit there and laugh at me. I was abandoned by my owner when they moved and left Blue & I behind. I was forced to live outside with Blue in the front yard of my old house. The new residents wouldn't let us come inside and fed us their scraps if they had any. Then, one day, Blue and I were out front playing and some scary person just snatched me up and took me to this stinky, scary place that had a bunch of other dogs there. I didn't like that place. After being there a few weeks I was scheduled to be put down, but thankfully an independent Rescuer, who originally saw me on the street and was trying to help me saw my picture along with my buddy Blue, and found a rescue to come save me. I arrived at my foster mom’s house and I was so happy to see my buddy Blue there too!! He's my best friend, my rock, my solid, my everything. I'm a very well behaved girl! I love to play hide and seek with Blue. I'm submissive and avoid confrontation. I still need some help with basic commands, but in time, I will get there. I am a merry mix of some wonderful breeds. I am 44% German Shepherd Dog, 21% Labrador Retriever, 8% Golden Retriever and 7% Siberian Husky. I was born on 7/11/2025 to a beautiful mom who is primarily GSD and an alleged dad who was primarily Black Labrador. Somehow I ended up with some Husky characteristics; more than my siblings did. I was the most distinctive puppy in the litter. My 'baby' photo is included at the end of my photos. I was so darn cute! I was previously adopted by a family with 3 young children and a senior dog whose energy level was not compatible with mine. I returned back to my original foster home where I live with two older dogs and my mother (Libby). I am young, energetic and would do best in a home with a confident, well balanced dog who has a similar energy level. Or, I would be fine being the only dog in the home. Your choice. With the help of everyone in my past, I went through some special training that helped me learn many things including obedience. I am house, leash, and dog door trained. I am young - just over 1 year old - and I'm just a teenager. Like a teenager I can be stubborn and headstrong. I like to test my environment and can be both frightened and confident depending on the situation. All my vaccines are up to date and I am microchipped, and spayed. I love people and get along with my foster family dogs but need proper introductions and boundaries to feel comfortable in new environments. I have incredible potential to be your new best friend.
