Kodak IS AVAILALBE (updated 05-29-2023).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Kodak, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22179&name=KodakKodak is an adorable and active (we aren&#39t sure that there&#39s been a word created that truly expresses or characterizes the energy level of a young Belgian Malinois, but we&#39re settling for &#39active&#39 today) Mal pup who was originally purchased by a family who hadn&#39t had a Maligator before and they weren&#39t even his first owners! At just two years old, Kodak had already been in 3 homes. This is a very driven working breed and they do not make good couch potatoes nor are they happy with just two walks a day.Now around 3 years old, Kodak is sweet, happy, friendly, and fast became a volunteer favorite. Initially, he may bark in new situations, but he warms up quickly, knows basic obedience, and is good on a leash. He absolutely adores toys of all kinds and can spend hours chasing down balls (i.e. drive for dayyyyyyys).Kodak has good food and toy drive, so he excels in obedience classes. He bonds quickly, wants to be with you, and will be a wonderful addition to his new family as long as they make a commitment to giving him the training and guidance that he needs. He will do best in a home with no young children. Please know that WE WILL ONLY PLACE HIM IN A HOME WITH PREVIOUS MALINOIS EXPERIENCE.Watch his video here. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.May 29, 2023, 5:57 am

For more information and the adoption application for Leah, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22329&name=LeahLeah came to us a terrified, shut down, feral dog whom animal control had confiscated from a very bad situation. She was so shut down, it took a long (long!) time to get her to allow any type of interaction with humans. We spent month after month earning her trust, socializing her, and teaching her to overcome her many fears. Around 3 years old, she moved from the training facility into a foster home and is doing fantastic, but will need a special adopter. At first, she was scared to enter the house, the tile scared her, and it took coaxing for her to enter. Leah now seeks affection, is playing with toys, plays with her human foster, is totally comfortable being inside, crate trained, potty trained, and is learning that the world isnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t such a scary place. She went to the beach for the first time and loved it!While she&#39s your normal, energetic Maligator in her foster home, she is still figuring out the world outside of those doors. She spends time every day being exposed to new things, but when she&#39s scared she does try to bolt. She used to hit the end of the leash and frantically chew to break free (which is why she wears a long fur saver), but now, when something new and loud is that scary, she bolts and stops when she hits the end of the leash, even going into a sit. Leah is a jaw snapping, toy playing, chew obsessed Malinois in her home and is going to need someone who understands Mals, who can supply structure, who is patient, and who can slowly build trust with her. Because she&#39s such a flight risk, we are going to be very careful about where we place her, because she means the world to us.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. For more information and the adoption application for Fiona, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22531&name=FionaFiona came to us with one of her pups- Flora. They were being given away &#39free to good home&#39 and were rescued by an animal lover who didn&#39t want to see them land in the wrong hands! Flora was adopted very quickly and is doing fabulous. Fiona settled into the kennel life very easily and charmed her way into the hearts of all of the volunteers. One day a volunteer noticed that Fiona appeared to be bleeding- we knew she was spayed so she shouldn&#39t be in heat. One vet visit led to a specialist vet visit and a diagnosis of TVT - transmissible venereal tumors. This is a cancerous tumor that she likely got when she became pregnant with her pups. The good news here is that she is done with her treatments and cancer free! Yay for Fiona! Fiona would love a home to call her own. She is dog friendly - no cats please - and would love an active lifestyle! If Fiona sounds like a fit for you, please let us know. We would love to chat with you about her!The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. Story
Arizona the Adventure dog, teenage playful pup!* He is an energetic, 60 lb German Shepherd mix who loves that chewy squeak of a new tennis ball as well as any other toy you can think of. Extremely smart, he listens very well to commands and adjustments. Arizona loves long walks and hikes with his human and would be a great adventure or travel companion! He loves humans and will be extremely loyal and affectionate with you. Arizona loves spending time outside when it's with you. Hiking? Yup. Running? Yup. Playing ball? Yup. Learning nosework or any other game or activity that the two of you can do together? We'd just about guarantee it. If you’re looking for an adventure dog to stay by your side, to learn quickly, and to be responsive and work with you as only German Shepherds can, Arizona is the dog for you! His has two requirements, he told us: no kitties, please, and to be the only dog so he can get ALL the attention. *Arizona needs you for another reason - he needs daily medication and has a history of seizures. In the months since he was diagnosed and put on medication, he's not had any seizures. He is ready to be with you, go on hikes, play Frisbee or tug, and be an incredible companion. Hope you are ready for him.May 29, 2023, 8:36 am

Story
Mia is a Belgian Malinois puppy who is filled with typical malinois energy.  This cute little girl finds herself alone and unwanted, not unlike many Belgian Malinois puppies recently.  A kind animal lover opened her home for Mia but quickly realized Malinois energy is more than she could handle. She is settling in with GSROC and our volunteers are getting to know her. Mia is a bundle of Malinois energy, but did her best to smile for our volunteers who took her photos.  Packed with energy and super smart, Mia loves to learn new things!  She is quick, agile and full of curiosity.   She gets along with other dogs and likes people. This girl is no couch potato - she will do best in an active home familiar with the Belgian Malinois breed.  Homes with older children will be a good fit for this girl as her exuberance may be too much for little ones. Please go to our website and complete an adoption application at: /https://www.gsroc.org/application/  An adoption counselor will contact you to go over your application and assist you in determining which dog may be best for your particular situation. He&#39s definitely afraid of traffic and is going to need a home that&#39s willing to work with him. Fargo IS AVAILALBE (updated 05-29-2023).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Fargo, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21785&name=FargoFargo is a true working dog who is motivated by his stomach and toys. He&#39s ridiculously smart and obedience trained, but wasn&#39t socialized prior to his rescue. He&#39s spent the last five years training (can you believe we just hit his 5 year anniversary with the rescue?) and now just needs someone who will help him transition what he&#39s learned into becoming part of a family. We rescued Fargo from the OC Shelter and he&#39s proven to be a smarty pants with a nose that never stops. He looks to have had no structure in his previous home and will do best with someone who has large breed experience (working dog experience a plus!) and understands dogs who are bot good with strangers. He&#39s a big puppy, can be mouthy, and can be fearfull and reactive around fast moving people whom he doesn&#39t already know, so a low traffic home with no children is recommended. He is, however, super food motivated and follows direction like a well oiled machine once heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s bonded with you, so he just needs to find someone who will work with him and allow him to grow into a perfectly balanced boy. Fargo loves his toys, his walks, is obedience trained, and a super quick study. He knows sit, down, stay, come, heel, swing, place, back, drop it, slip, hupf, nein, and then some. This handsome boy is ready to move into a home of his own!The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. For more information and the adoption application for Gunner, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21838&name=GunnerHere&#39s the thing about this really smart, handsome, smart, gorgeous, smart GSD: He&#39s smart. He can also be stubborn. He&#39s like a teenage boy in the body of a GSD. ð&#194&#159&#194&#152&#194&#129Gunner is just about the most well trained dog in our rescue. He&#39s been working on his obedience game for over a year and knows all of the tricks. He has a relationship with certain volunteers in which he understands they are the leaders and he is the follower. Once you achieve that relationship with him, he&#39s just about the most fun canine companion in the world! But, and here&#39s the but, you don&#39t have that relationship with him yet. As smart as he is, he&#39s not a well oiled machine who is the same dog with different people. He is going to be a dream dog for someone who likes to work their dogs, but he is going to be a handful for someone who doesn&#39t. Around 5-6 years of age, Gunner is your typical working dog with lots of energy who is smart as a whip, loves to run and play, and adores his people. He craves work, loves a job, and would probably enjoy agility. He&#39s adorable, loving, affectionate, playful, and needs a home with GSD/working dog experience or he will take the lead position and become overly protective. If you&#39re looking for a smart puppy who would love to be part of an active home, Gunner is your boy!The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500.
