To meet any of our dogs, complete our online adoption application on our website: http://www.coastalgsr.org/dogs/athena-1 Athena is a petite princess who is 4 years old. This sweet little girl should have had a fairy tale life based on what her adoptive family told us when they selected her as a puppy. She went home with the family when she was two months old. The family had a house, children, and another Malinois. However, at the end of 2025, Coastal GSR received an email from a shelter letting us know that they found Athena roaming around as a stray. When we tried to find her family, it was like they vanished from the face of the earth. The house was sold, the people were gone, and no one was missing Athena. Athena came back to Coastal GSR and re-joined our family. A family that would never give up on her. She is still a bit bewildered about what happened to her but she has been settling in and enjoying walks and ball playing with our volunteers. The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.February 19, 2026, 5:30 am

They were being given away 'free to good home' and were rescued by an animal lover who didn't want to see them land in the wrong hands! Fiona settled into the kennel life very easily and charmed her way into the hearts of all of the volunteers. She needed treatment for a cancerous tumor that she likely got when she became pregnant with her pups. The good news here is that she is done with her treatments and has been cancer free for over 6 months! Yay for Fiona! Fiona would love a home to call her own. She has been to obedience training, knows all her basic commands and walks well on a leash. She would do best in a home with older kids and no other dogs or cats. She loves car rides and would love an active lifestyle! If Fiona sounds like a fit for you, please let us know. We would love to chat with you about Fiona! Story

We adopted her because we discovered the shelter was going to euthanize her on 01/16/26 due to being overcrowded. She was found in a ditch in the side of a freeway and has a limp in her front right leg, the vet stated it is only a soft tissue injury and she will recover. She seems to be very young still. She has been around other smalls dogs and children with no issues, she’s very affectionate and curious. Everyone that has ever cared for her has mentioned that she’s the sweetest dog.

Harper is great with our two male dogs. I adopted her 7 months ago and up until about 2 weeks ago, she was fine with our other female. Now they can't even get in eyesight of each other or they go ballistic. Our other female is a seeing eye dog and I can't risk that one being injured. Harper is sweet with people. She is curious about other dogs. Maybe a one dog house would be best. She is crate trained and house trained.
