Story
Meet Jax! Jax is a handsome Belgian Malinois with a big personality and an even bigger engine! This energetic guy had a rough start to life (and almost didn't make it), but you’d never guess it from his confident strut and bright, curious eyes. Still triggered by some noises and fast movements, Jax has been working hard to overcome his anxieties. Jax is full of life, always ready for action, and looking for someone who can keep up with his adventurous spirit. Like many Malinois, Jax is smart, driven, and loves having a job to do. Whether it’s learning new tricks, going for long hikes, playing with toys, or working his brain with training games, Jax is happiest when he’s busy. He’s the kind of dog who wakes up each day asking, “What’s our mission today?” Because of his high energy and working-dog mindset, Jax will do best with an experienced owner who understands the needs of working breeds. He’s not looking for a couch-potato lifestyle (although he LOVES to cuddle at the end of the day)—he wants a teammate! Someone who enjoys training, staying active, and building a strong bond with their dog will find Jax to be an incredibly rewarding companion. Jax’s Dream Home: An experienced owner familiar with working breeds An active household that enjoys exercise and adventure Someone excited about training, enrichment, and structure Adult only home preferred or older children With the right person, Jax could thrive in activities like advanced training, agility, scent work, or other canine sports. But most of all, he’s looking for a human who appreciates his drive, intelligence, and loyalty. If you’re ready for a smart, energetic partner who will keep life interesting and always be up for the next adventure, Jax is ready to be your co-pilot.  Jax is currently 1 1/2 years old and weighs 50-60 pounds. He is also housebroken, crate trained, and fine with fellow canines. He is even good with CATS! To set up a meeting, fill out an application at www.northstarpets.org and ask for JAX NJ!April 24, 2026, 1:31 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Sandy and her siblings were saved from a high-kill shelter in Calfornia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Wednesday 3rd August. We post our available dogs in states across the East Coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes of finding perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs — families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet and, hopefully, take home their new best friend. Sandy is a Belgian Mal / German Shepherd Mix and it is important to understand that she is a high energy, intelligent girl so be sure you have the lifestyle that she needs to give her and you the best life possible together... note she is also a love bug and all round sweet, gentle girl - not the maligator people assume when they hear the name Belgian Mal. Health & Background ✅ Spayed ✅ Rabies and core vaccines up to date ✅ On monthly flea/tick preventatives ✅ Microchipped ⚖️ Weight: 65 lbs ish Estimated DoB: 23 May 2025 SANDY is back at the rescue (16 April 2026) in Dover-Foxcroft Maine, I brought her back so I could get her out and about and hopefully more exposure in helping her forever family find her. She is doing great with the seniors and other teenagers, Cruz, Snowball and Lucy. She is very affectionate, responsive, loves people, will bark if she see's someone walking past but will come in when called. Very easy to train she is a people pleaser who wants to go on adventures and make lots of memories. After a devastating fire at the rescue on 20 January, SANDY went to a foster family in southern Maine on 24th January. This is what her foster family has said about her: Terra (aka Sandy) has been fostering with us for two months. She is such a loving soul and one of the sweetest pups you'll ever meet. Terra loves running and playing and taking walks with our dog, Apollo. Apollo was slow to accept her, but now that he has such a fun time playing with her in the yard, he has seemed to become much more tolerant of another dog in his house.   Terra is crate trained. She sleeps well through the night without complaint, and plays with her chew toys if she wakes up before we do. During the day she'll spend 30-45 minutes crated off and on. She does so without being noisy now, except she does still protest if we have her crated when we are eating dinner. She does better if our dog is crated at dinner time with her, so it seems to be at least partially a competition/jealousy issue.   She's got her basic commands down--come, stay, sit, lay down, and her release command 'break.' She walks nicely on a leash, although we do have some issues with pulling when she's walked along with another dog. She's calmer when she's walked on her own as she still gets more playful energy when she's with a canine friend. We had some peeing occur in the house the first 2-3 weeks, but she has done great with potty training and it's been more than a month since the last incident.   Terra loves her toys and isn't choosy...she'll go from playing with a stuffy to nomming on a rope toy to chasing around a ball. While she has her bursts of playful energy, she has overall been calming down and having long periods where she chills out and and rests peacefully.   It's been a pleasant evolution as now she is far more content to spend stretches of time laying next to me resting or chewing on a toy while I read or am at my desk.   Terra has been waiting long months since arriving at Give a Dog a Home Rescue rescue in September to find a forever home with a family that will give her the love she deserves. Story
Maddy is the sweetest companion in the world. Hurts to have to let her go but she deserves to be happy and kept busy during the day and my schedule is just too busy. I got her as a pup and have trained her since then. She’s gone through boarding schools and at home training. She is pure bred and a great example of every positive trait about a Malinois. She is extremely loyal, loves to cuddle, and incredibly smart. Her only issue is being too smart and knowing how to get to any food left unattended. She is quick to impose herself on to other dogs but gets along well with them once they get to know each other. Only serious inquiries with experience accepted. She needs daily exercise for at least an hour a day, preferably in a big, open outdoors space
