Story
Forest is a sweet little medium to high energy Chihuahua and Border Collie mix. He was born around 9/1/2024 and currently weighs 20 lbs. His DNA test came back with 15 breeds and Chihuahua/Border Collie were the highest %'s. Forest is playful, loyal and smart. He likes the company of other friendly dogs and likes playing chase and wrestling with them. He is beginning to enjoy balls and toys and will occasionally play with them. He Iikes chewing on bully sticks and other chew toys and bones. He loves going for walks, hiking and will swim sometimes. In the evenings he enjoys couch time with his humans. He desires to be a large part of his family’s life and likes being included in daily activities. Forest can be shy when meeting new people but has shown he will warm up with slow, calm introductions. He has a tendency to be somewhat timid but his confidence has grown quite a bit in his foster home. Once he is comfortable in a home he is a happy, delightful, playful and cuddly boy. He has a preference for women but does warm up to men in time. Forest is crate trained, walks politely on a leash and is house broken in his foster home. He currently lives with friendly dogs of various sizes and gets a long well with them. He also lives with dog savvy cats but will challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. Children would likely overwhelm him so only dog savvy, respectful kids over 12 are recommended. He would not do well being left home alone daily for long hours. He enjoys a yard and is an alert barker so no apartments for him. Forest would do well in an active home with a confident, playful dog companion to help boost his confidence, help show him the ropes and keep him company while his humans are away from home. He would not do well with an overly dominant dog who bullies him. A person who has the time, patience and willingness to work with a shy dog would be ideal. Forest is a sweet, playful dog who is a joy to foster. He is patiently waiting for his forever home. Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Adoption fees range from $350-$475 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us. Story
Kaiyu was a stray found on the street 5 years ago. He was found to have been shot with a BB gun and still has a couple of BB pellets in him that are not safe to remove. He is very easy to train as he is highly food motivated. He knows most commands and is crate and potty trained. He is always excited to meet people and does well with other dogs. He was found to have an ear polyp in his right ear that is not bothering him and was recently diagnosed with a salivary sialocele that has been managed with steroids. He is an amazing dog that also just likes to lounge around with you all day.

Story
Meet Russell Russell is an absolute sweetheart with a calm, loving personality and wonderful house manners. He enjoys playing with the other dogs each morning and evening, and during the workday he’s perfectly content to relax quietly at your feet. On days when his foster works in the office, Russell settles comfortably in his crate for a full workday and does very well. He is fully housebroken and sleeps peacefully either in his crate or cuddled up on the bed. Russell especially loves curling up beside you at night and will happily snuggle close—sometimes climbing on top of you in the morning when he’s ready to start the day. Russell is neutral and appropriate with other dogs. He shows curiosity toward cats and squirrels, but he is responsive to redirection and continues to improve his focus on walks. He walks nicely on a loose leash and responds well to gentle guidance that helps set a calm tone at the start of the walk. This confident (but not pushy) boy has lovely manners around the home. He sits quietly at the door, waits to be invited inside by name, and is learning to maintain his doorway boundaries even when visitors arrive. He may give a brief alert bark if someone approaches the fence or rings the doorbell, but he is otherwise quiet and relaxed indoors. Russell already understands sit, down, and stay with hand signals and is beginning to learn verbal cues. He is a smart, eager dog who will continue to blossom with consistency and love. Overall, Russell is a gentle, affectionate companion who would thrive in a home looking for a loyal cuddle buddy with great potential and a sweet heart Interested in adopting? Story
Introducing Pokey Puppy!!! Pokey's estimated dob is May 2023 and he weighs about 32lbs. He came to us in poor condition from one of the Central Valley shelters so had little hope of making it out.  Pokey has had good care and good groceries and has flourished.  He appears to be a short stack Cattle Dog mix given his coloration and some of his behaviors.  Pokey is still shy with new people and to some extent other dogs so patience will be needed for his transition.  Once he is comfortable, he is happy and playful.  Pokey has been learning about the wide world and walks the neighborhood everyday.  He will continue to need exposure and reassurance for outings as he matures, along with solid training. He is a strong and active player so another sturdy playful pup would be good.  Pokey sleeps in his crate at night.  He has also mastered the dog door.  And he is pretty much potty trained. Pokey's wishlist: 1.  Fenced yard 2.  Daily walks and activity 3.  No young children.  Older respectful children  4.  Continued training  5.  Patience and leadership 6.  A compatible playmate Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Story
Remy is an ACD/Belg Mal mix (dna test shows 33% ACD, 29% Belg Mal). His estimated DOB is 5/2025 and he currently weighs 29 lbs. He is very smart. He walks great on a leash, loves to ride in the car and go on adventures. He knows basic commands. He loves to play with his toys and run through the water. He is crate trained and gets along with the dogs he currently lives with. He is friendly when meeting new people. His ideal home would be one with room to run and play, so no apartments. He needs a person who understands the requirements of a puppy and has the time to continue his training. Remy loves to be with his person, so he would love to find a home with a family that is committed to taking him on daily walks, have outside playtime, and that would include him in family activities and other outings. He would do fine with respectful kids. Remy is a wonderful puppy and will make a great companion for the right family! Story
Sierra is a sweet girl with a gorgeous brindle coat and adorable spotted paws! She was born in 10/2022 and currently weighs 37#. Sierra was adopted from us as a puppy but has been recently returned due to her family not being able to provide the life she deserves. Here are some notes from her fostermom: Sierra loves to go for walks and play fetch. She has been great with our small dogs but probably should not live with cats. She wants to chase them when she sees them on walks. Sierra enjoys cuddling on the couch with my husband and children. She sleeps peacefully in the crate through the night, but does whine and bark for a few minutes before settling if she is crated during the day. Sierra appears to be potty trained. She hasn't asked to be let out, but we let our dogs out regularly to go potty and haven't had any issues. Sierra isn't super food motivated, but she will sometimes take higher value treats while working on her sit and down. Sierra has a calm personality unless she is playing or scared. She is very gentle with our 8 lb terrier mix and our 12 lb papillon mix and although hasn't recently been exposed to bigger dogs, we feel she would do fine. Sierra needs a fully fenced backyard where she can safely run and play. Sierra has shown some fear of strangers coming into our home, but we are working on that. She barks and tries to run away, but with patience and treats, she learns that strangers can be okay. While out on walks, Sierra passes dogs easily unless they are lunging, growling, and barking at her. We are working on being able to ignore those dogs. Recently, we took Sierra to Petco and TJ Maxx. She did great! She walked nicely through the store and waited patiently in line with us. Sierra is a great dog who deserves a loving home with owners as devoted to her as she is to them.
