(((READ ALL INFO BEFORE INQUIRING PLEASE))))) Steps needed to adopt Step 1) complete the application, the link is below https://form.jotform.com/81702264428152 Step 2) Thoroughly read any info about the dog. Review the rescues adoption procedures and process. Thoroughly research the breed. Please do not submit multiple emails or applications. We will contact you if we feel your home is a good fit. ALL dogs and cats in the rescue must be spayed/neutered in the rescue. Because puppies may be to young to undergo surgery, they are placed on our spay and neuter schedule. If they are adopted prior to their surgery date, the adopter must agree to either bring the dog back for their spay/neuter, or complete the alter at their own vet with a special contract in place and proof of the alter within a timeframe. If submitting an application for a puppy under 4 months, they might not yet be altered and are on the schedule. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >>>>>>About the Dog

Story
It's pretty impossible not to love Ahi! Ahi is a 1-year-old goofball who is always on the lookout for fun. Like a true herding breed dog, she loves to always be on the move and is a smart girl who loves to learn. She is a special girl as she was born deaf, but that doesn't stop her from being a happy-go-lucky pup. Ahi is likely full-grown at just about 40lbs. Ahi is currently being fostered by the family who adopted her sister. Unfortunately, Ahi's previous owners were not able to keep up with her exercise requirements and she was returned to the person who bred her mom. Once her foster family heard about her, they wasted no time to come to her rescue and we were happy to make her a YCSPCA dog and help find her fur-ever home. Ahi is a confident girl who loves to explore and make new friends. She has come to a few adoption events and has blown us away with how social she is out and about. She would be a great dog for someone who likes to go to dog-friendly breweries. She is a higher-energy girl, so she needs an active family that will ensure she gets lots of daily exercise and enrichment to keep her busy mind and body happy. She is still learning all her basic manners (especially how to not get too excited when saying hello), so her new family will need to be committed to working on her training and helping her learn how to be the best girl she can be. Ahi loves other dogs but can be too much energy for older or smaller dogs. She could be a great addition to a home with another playful medium/large dog, but she also wouldn't mind being your spoiled-only fur kid. Ahi is a little too interested in playing with cats and needs a kitty-free home. Ahi could do well in a home with kids 14 years or older. Ahi has done well with housetraining, but her new family should be patient with her while she is settling into a new home and routine and expect a few accidents. Ahi is crate-trained and does well in her crate overnight and when her foster family isn't home. Ahi is such a rockstar dog and we know she is going to make a great companion for the right family. If she sounds like the right-hand girl for you, submit an adoption application today!   Ahi's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm and started on preventatives, and are given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. February 23, 2024, 4:06 pm

Story
Meet Jump Start! This handsome border collie mix (maybe, who knows!) is a lovable 65lb beefcake with a heart of gold.  This goofy guy is sure to keep you laughing and entertained.  Jumpstart has met other dogs at the shelter and LOVES to play, but would probably do best with dogs who also have a rough and rowdy play style.  Interested in adopting? Visit our shelter during open hours and ask about Jump Start A051922February 21, 2024, 5:59 pm

Story
Duke (black and white male) and Dakota (Brown and white female) are 2 year old border collies we brought home at 8 weeks from a ranch in Lincoln. We were told they are purebred, but they may have a little of something else. Either way, they have all the character traits of border collies. They are litter mates and have an amazing bond. Due to unforeseen changes in our living conditions, we would love to find these these two a home together. They are very smart and loving and are easy to train. They spend most their time outside and love to play fetch. Dakota is the alpha of the two and takes a little time to get used to other dogs. They were raised with a cat that they loved to play with. They have spent some time around our energetic grandson who is 3, and they have always been good with him. Feel free to reach out if they seem like they would be a good fit for a loving home. They are both fixed and up to date on vaccines. $300 re-homing fee for the pair.

Story
******COURTESY POST****** CONTACT KAT - kattlundy@gmail.com   Cooper is a 14 month old mixed breed dog (likely border collie mix). Cooper is obedient, especially in calm settings. He loves consistency, companionship, routine, and nose games! Cooper knows sit, stay, lie down, middle, come, place, touch, and many more tricks. Cooper is very loving and snuggly with those he knows well. Cooper is food motivated, so food really helps him warm up to new people! Cooper loves playing with other dogs and sometimes his current owner has to step in to give him a break because he gets very excited and has some trouble calming himself down. Cooper could use a confident doggie role model to give him the companionship he needs and help him build his confidence in new scenarios. Cooper’s current owner has been training him and treating his anxiety consistently for a almost a year, and his behavior has improved drastically from when he was initially adopted. Cooper is anxious in his small apartment in the city and ultimately needs more, quiet space and a multi-caregiver household. His current owner loves him very much, but she lacks the help of a second caregiver who could help her and Cooper overcome his separation anxiety. Cooper is very funny and expressive. He is loved by everyone he meets in the city and on the trail. He is looking forward to meeting you!   ******COURTESY POST****** CONTACT KAT - kattlundy@gmail.com     All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control.
