Story
Coco is an 16 month old 50 lb. mixed breed. She was a stray and taken in when she was 3 moths old. She requires daily long walks to remain a happy and loving dog! She does settle during the day after her exercise. She has done well in training classes. Does not like to ride in the car. She gets car sick. Car crate does help. She sleeps in her bed at night and is never left alone long. Loves the company of people! We are ready for Coco to find a home with lots of opportunities to run, walk and continue her training. She lives with older kids and a 9 lb. Female chihuahua mix.

Story
Hi, my name is Jesse. I am 10 years old and have spent most of my life outdoors in rural northern California. I was rescued because my parents could no longer care for me. My current living situation is not ideal; my foster parents work full-time Monday to Friday, and I have to be crated while they are away. They also own a cat, and I do not like cats at all. The cat and I have to live separately between the first and second floor of the condo; it's not fair to either of us. It makes things especially difficult because our home is already small. My foster parents rescued me because I’m family, and I was going to be put down if I didn't have a home. They didn't think it was fair because I still have so much life to live, and I'm a pretty sweet and happy boy. They reached out to local shelters for me, but because of my age, being non neutered, and behavior issues with cats, I'm not a good candidate. Regardless, they want a better life for me, and so do I.

Miles is a 1 year old 60 pound Border Collie mix. He is very excited to meet new friends and can't wait to show you all his manners. He is very photogenic and has the perfect SIT and pose so you can fill your phone's memory with him.Staff and volunteers have noticed how much he loves to play in the pools, chase the ball, and play with squeaky toys. He has been able to make some dog friends that match his energy. Miles doesn't has a history with dogs and may do well with slow intros.Miles doesn't have a history with cats and may do well with slow intros.Miles doesn't have a history with children but may do well with children that can listen to his boundaries! If you are interested in this specific animal, please come to the shelter for walk-in adoptions Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30am to 5:30pm. **COURTESY POST****THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS DOG IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, REACH OUT TO HUDSON hudsongarland1@gmail.com** Debo is a 1 year old, intact male border collie mix. He is very sweet with all people, but is high energy and requires more space than the owner can provide. Debo has never lived with kids, cats, or other dogs, so we are unsure how he would be with them. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
It's pretty impossible not to love Ahi! Ahi is a 1.5-year-old goofball who is always on the lookout for fun. Like a true herding breed dog, she loves to always be on the move and is a smart girl who loves to learn. She is a special girl as she was born deaf, but that doesn't stop her from being a happy-go-lucky pup. Ahi is full-grown at just under 40lbs. Ahi is currently being fostered by the family who adopted her sister. Unfortunately, Ahi's previous owners were not able to keep up with her exercise requirements and she was returned to the person who bred her mom. Once her foster family heard about her, they wasted no time to come to her rescue and we were happy to make her a YCSPCA dog and help find her fur-ever home. Ahi is a confident girl who loves to explore and make new friends. She has come to a few adoption events and has blown us away with how social she is out and about. She would be a great dog for someone who likes to go to dog-friendly breweries. She is a higher-energy girl, so she needs an active family that will ensure she gets lots of daily exercise and enrichment to keep her busy mind and body happy. Ahi has been doing great learning all her basic manners but still learning how to not get too excited when saying hello, so her new family will need to be committed to working on her training and helping her learn how to be the best girl she can be. She is VERY food-motivated and will do just about anything for a tasty treat. Ahi's lack of hearing doesn't slow her down one bit, but training can be a little more difficult since she can't hear. She needs a dog-savvy family that has experience with deaf dogs or is eager to learn how to work with her and possibly hire a professional trainer to learn how to communicate with Ahi. Ahi loves other dogs and has done well living with other playful medium/large dogs. She can be a little too boisterous for small or older dogs though. Ahi needs a cat-free and would do best in an adult-only home or with kids older than 14 years old. Ahi is housetrained in her foster home, but her new family should be patient with her while she is settling into a new home and routine and expect a few accidents. Ahi is crate-trained and does well in her crate overnight and when her foster family isn't home. Ahi is such a rockstar dog and we know she is going to make a great companion for the right family. If she sounds like the right-hand girl for you, submit an adoption application today!   Ahi's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm and started on preventatives, and are given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. July 26, 2024, 4:29 pm
