Story
Forest is a sweet little medium to high energy Chihuahua and Border Collie mix. He was born around 9/1/2024 and currently weighs 20 lbs. His DNA test came back with 15 breeds and Chihuahua/Border Collie were the highest %'s. Forest is playful, loyal and smart. He likes the company of other friendly dogs and likes playing chase and wrestling with them. He is beginning to enjoy balls and toys and will occasionally play with them. He Iikes chewing on bully sticks and other chew toys and bones. He loves going for walks, hiking and will swim sometimes. In the evenings he enjoys couch time with his humans. He desires to be a large part of his family’s life and likes being included in daily activities. Forest can be shy when meeting new people but has shown he will warm up with slow, calm introductions. He has a tendency to be somewhat timid but his confidence has grown quite a bit in his foster home. Once he is comfortable in a home he is a happy, delightful, playful and cuddly boy. He has a preference for women but does warm up to men in time. Forest is crate trained, walks politely on a leash and is house broken in his foster home. He currently lives with friendly dogs of various sizes and gets a long well with them. He also lives with dog savvy cats but will challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. Children would likely overwhelm him so only dog savvy, respectful kids over 12 are recommended. He would not do well being left home alone daily for long hours. He enjoys a yard and is an alert barker so no apartments for him. Forest would do well in an active home with a confident, playful dog companion to help boost his confidence, help show him the ropes and keep him company while his humans are away from home. He would not do well with an overly dominant dog who bullies him. A person who has the time, patience and willingness to work with a shy dog would be ideal. Forest is a sweet, playful dog who is a joy to foster. He is patiently waiting for his forever home. Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Adoption fees range from $350-$475 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us. We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so please be patient when waiting for a response, but feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from us in a day or so - thank you so much for considering a rescued pooch!

Story
Cookie is a sweet, smart 5-yo Border Collie. She knows basic commands (sit, paw, roll over, fetch), is fully housetrained She gets along with other dogs and cats (she currently coexists peacefully with a resident cat). Once she knows you, she wants nothing more than to be your gentle, loving "Velcro" shadow.I am reluctantly rehoming Cookie because her previous owners omitted the fact that she struggles with anxiety and escape tendencies when stressed. I use a wheelchair and a walker, and Cookie is quite nervous and unsure around mobility equipment. Because her fear prevents me from safely walking or training her, staying with me is not a safe or viable option.Cookie is grieving her first family of 5 years and needs a patient, routine-oriented home with an experienced herding-dog owner. She panicked and tried to dig under my fence on day one, so she strictly requires a highly secure, physically fenced yard. She is completely non-aggressive, just a sensitive soul needing to feel safe.

Story
Meet Salem! Salem is a 2â€Âׁ-year-old spayed female Border Collie/Anatolian Shepherd mix with a remarkable story and an even bigger heart. She and her brother were deeply devoted to their owner during his battle with cancer, faithfully staying by his side and offering quiet companionship through his illness. After their owner passed away, his wife made the difficult decision to surrender both dogs to the shelter. She shared that Salem and her brother were talented escape artists and, after losing the person they loved most, needed a new purpose and more enrichment and mental stimulation than she was able to provide. Salem’s brother has since found a home, but Salem has been patiently waiting since 5/14/26 for her own happy ending.Salem is a fantastic dog who is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She loves to cuddle and is happiest when she has close companionship with her people. While she has no interest in balls or toys, she thrives on connection and enjoys simply being near those she loves.True to her breed mix, Salem can be protective of her perimeter and property, making her a loyal and attentive companion. She would likely do well in a home with a compatible male dog and would benefit from a family that understands the importance of providing enrichment, structure, and meaningful engagement.More than anything, Salem is seeking companionship and commitment. She has already shown how deeply she can love and how devoted she can be. Now she’s hoping to find someone who will offer her the same loyalty and a forever home where she can once again be part of a family.June 19, 2026, 9:01 pm

Story
Apollo is a good dog. He will need a child and pet free home. He loves to cuddle, car rides, going camping/hiking, and playing fetch or catch. He really loves his spikey ball. He’s very smart and has a lot of energy. I will get his shots updated before he leaves our home. I cannot keep him with me for much longer. I either need a foster or to rehome him. I can give more information if interested.

*** This animal is currently in foster care, and not at the shelter ***Oreo just wants to be your best friend. He is curious, playful, and sweet. He’s good with kids and other dogs. He loves his toys and will play and chew on them throughout the day. At six months old, he’s still a puppy and would need consistent training but he is up for it. He loves attention and will shower you with attention right back. He seems new to going on walks and was a little timid at first but gained confidence. He is active, loves to play, pets, snuggles, and being around people.

Story
Koda was adopted from a farm and he was a runt- he his now 69 lbs but it took 3+ years to get him to quit resource guarding. He is busy, loves to fetch a stick or ball or frisbee, LOVES to be with his person, gets scared with thunder will still lunge for the garbage truck. He is BUSY but mostly like a toddler that likes to tag along with you where ever you are. We are looking for a new home for Koda for 4 main reasons: 1. He gets randomly aggressive (threatening moves/lunge/ body language) toward husband and adult daughter if "mom" is around. Mom is his person and number one resource2. He doesnt sit still when he is out so we can't have him out if we just want to relax. 3. He cannot get shots at the vet unless he is sedated $$$4. He hs been kicked out of 4 different boarding places for being scary/ aggressive (no vacations for us) Koda is super smart and loves to fetch sticks in the river. He does walks with me daily, loves trips to petco and any length drive in the car. xoxoxo
