Story
We got this dog this dog for our older kids, but with sports and work now it turns out we don't have the time she deserves to play and love her. She is a super sweet dog. Ultra affectionate and loving. We have a 3 year old who is rough with her and she has never even hinted at nipping him. She deserves to go to a home with a fenced in yard for her to run, we do not have that another reason she needs to be rehomed.

Or, how about these Border Collies in cities near Rockford, Illinois

Story
Hello! My name is Remi. I am a one and half year old female Border Collie/Poodle mix. My original family was unable to care for me, so I was taken in by my littermates mom. Unfortunately, there’s a little too much sibling rivalry between me and my sister so things haven’t worked out quite like we’d hoped. Here are a few things I would like you to know about me: - I am loving, happy, playful, and full of energy! Ideally my new home would have a big backyard for me to play in. If not, a human that loves to go for walks everyday would be great too! - I love the doggos that live with our friends and family, but I need to be the only canine queen living in my castle. - I am VERY food motivated so learning new tricks is easy for me! - I live with two cats. They aren’t really Dog People, but I sure wish they were! - I live with two older kids and I love them to pieces! There’s so much more I could tell you about, but I’m out of room here! Mom is more than happy to chat, just reach out!

Story
Meet Lincoln....... Lincoln is an adorable young boy, thought to be a Border Collie Mix. Like Border Collies, he’s very smart, a quick learner, very alert and quite energetic!! At age 9 months, he weighs 38 lbs. It is most important to note that we cannot be 100% sure of his adult weight, but our best guess is about 40ish lbs. This handsome boy joined BAARK from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky earlier this year. He is thought to have been born around December 23, 2022. He was a scared little puppy when entering our rescue program but has come out of his shell and has evolved into a playful, sociable, and somewhat mischievous boy. Lincoln is great with dogs outside of his foster home, but can be protective of his home and human, indoors. Most likely Lincoln would prefer being an only dog, receiving all the attention he deserves. However he could to ok with a calm easy-going female. He would probably be far too energetic for a senior (dog or human!) An ideal family for Lincoln is one able to assimilate the energy of a young boy into its lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Lincoln to be his best self! A secure, above-ground fenced yard is important. Lincoln would not thrive as an apartment dweller. Lincoln is crate-trained and is working on good house manners (housebreaking). He is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. He is neutered and microchipped as well. . For information about adding this adorable boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the far NW suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to this area.

Story
Marty is fostered in Grayslake, Illinois.   Please meet this handsome devil, Marty.  He LOOOOVVES sticks!  He is a 1.5 year old red bi border collie male, weighing about 40 lbs.  He came to Midwest Australian Shepherd Rescue because his owner moved into a small apartment and quickly realized he needed much more.   Marty wasn't given much training in his past home.  He's been learning a lot of new things in his foster home and he is a quick learner, eager to pelase, good boy!  He loves his leash and he loves going on walks.  He is quickly picking up house manners and commands at a rapid pace.  He LOVES snuggling and promises not to be in your personal space, but because he is a very sweet, very smart, happy-go-lucky boy! Marty iwould defnitely benefit from an adopter who wants to complete some basic obedience training with him, which is a GREAT bonding tool with a newly adopted pup.  Marty does great with rewards and praise-based training.  He does have great focus for training.  Marty would do best in a physically fenced yard that has PLENTY of sticks!  Marty is crate trained and house trained. Marty will require a committed adopter who is willing to continue his training and also provide adequate mental and physical stimulation, which any young border collie would need. Marty is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.  He is receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworms for any current and previous pets is required to adopt from our rescue.  For more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees, and a link to our adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.   ##1823687##

Maverick is 2 year old, and weighs 39 lbs. He is very energetic. He is a sweet boy who loves to play and run. He doesn’t like to be in a kennel, but cannot be trusted alone in the house yet, as he likes to chew, like puppies do. He has had herding tendencies with small children, and will herd if you run. He would be a good companion dog to play with in the yard until he can be trained to walk properly on a leash. He is an escape artist when it comes to harnesses and collars while on leash. He will need a secure fenced in back yard with a secure gate. Location & Contact Location: South Beloit, Illinois Contact: Chris wickedcrafty1@gmail.com

Story
Bruno is an energetic boy. He likes to jump over baby gates and might be a good candidate for agility. He’s pretty smart. Bruno would do well in a home with no other dogs, cats, or kids. He knows sit, shake, and down. He chooses to sleep on the second shelf of our laundry room wire rack. This is where we keep extra bedding. He likes his people but he is cautious at first. He doesn’t like having things taken away so we trade for something he likes more. We feed him in his room by himself. He would rather eat alone. He has not shown any desire to herd, but will chase birds when he sees one. Not sure about other small animals, but it’s safe to assume he quite possibly would. He seeks out attention when he wants it and we don’t fuss with him unless he does. When he doesn’t want to go in his room, he will sit down strike. I offer him treats on the way to his room and he will usually follow me in. He’s got some quirks, but he’s a great dog. Bruno takes a little while to get to know someone. He must be introduced to the same person several times from a distance. Once he gets to know them, he behaves well. We walk him every day in our semi-rural area, where there are very few cars and not a lot of people. He’s not the city type. He will sometimes bolt for a small animal when he sees one with little warning. He would rather not be hugged or kissed, but enjoys petting while he sits at your feet. He is very cautious when you take off his harness. He does a play bow when we put it on. He likes to sleep on the second shelf of my laundry room rack. I put blankets on it to make him comfortable. He will need a fenced-in yard. Location & Contact Location: South Beloit, Illinois Contact: Chris wickedcrafty1@gmail.com
