About Me: INFORMATION entered 1/20/24 Name: Louie Breed (or best guess): Medium Size mix breeds - maybe herding breeds Approximate Age: born 10/19/23 Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 1/27/24 15 lb Adoption Fee: $550 Requirements: Loving family with patience to train a puppy Why In Rescue: Texas transfer Profile:  Pregnant momma found herself without a family and ended up in a high kill Texas animal control.  Thankfully she went into a foster home and had her babies while she waited to come up to Wisconsin with her pups in tow.  Now Lilly's babies are ready to find home.  We really don't know what mix the pups are, but Momma Lilly looks similar to a Lhasa mix, but has a shedding coat.  All the pups look more like herding breed mixes, and are just adorable with a range of coat types from short and soft, to fluffy, and even one that looks like it may be more wiry or scruffy looking.  They have been raised in a foster home and now ready for homes of their own.  Note:  These puppies will likely shed.  We are guessing they will be smaller-medium sized dogs (mom is around 25 lb), but they could end up being larger since we don't know anything about Daddy or Mom's genetic history. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS February 20, 2024, 3:42 pm

Story
Thumper was 1 day away from getting the needle when he was brought to Wisconsin. Why would a young, beautiful, vibrant dog be next up for euthanasia? Thumper was captured in the mountains of Kentucky with a pack of dogs. He didn’t know, like or trust humans. If you tried to put a leash on him, he would flop around, pull, bite on the leash and paw at it until his feet were bleeding. Because of his fear, you couldn’t pet him as he would hide in the back of the cage.  It took 4 days of dragging Thumper around the yard to get him to accept a leash. Three days later, he was off leash. Because Thumper is a pack dog, he accepts his role in the pack. He quickly became loyal and followed directions.  Thumper is listed as a mixed breed. He looks, acts, and feels like a border collie. He is very smart and shows his personality running in the woods and playing with other dogs. Thumper is NOT a dog that will lay on the couch and eat treats. He must be mentally and physically challenged. Look up border collie if you are unaware of their tendencies. Thumper is estimated to be 2 years old. He has longer soft fur and is knockout gorgeous.  Thumper’s transformation has been phenomenal. He is starting to snuggle with his foster dad. He is allowing other people at work to pet him. Noises rarely startle him.  When Thumper first saw little humans, he ran away barking. He now lets a 2-year-old pet him and is starting to nose bump a baby.  He is very smart and gets along with other dogs. He played with an 8 pound dog and an 80 pound dog. He will stay away from dogs that want to be left alone. When he gets bored, he will explore and be a little mischievous.  If you are interested in Thumper, do some research on border collies so that you know what type of behavior to expect. Thumper's adoption fee is $325 if adopted by 2/29. Animal is Fostered in: Milwaukee, WI For more information, or to apply for adoption, visit our website at: www.RescueOutreach.com Please note the following will be performed on all animals prior to adoption: Microchip Spay/Neuter (unless medically unable at time of adoption, in which case this will be discussed) Heartworm Testing (dogs);    FELV/FIV Testing (cats) Age appropriate CORE vaccines.  Dhpp, Rabies (if old enough)-dog;  CVR, Rabies (if old enough) - cat  - WE DO NOT ADMINISTER BORDETELLA unless indicated.   PLEASE NOTE- puppies and kittens may need to complete vaccination schedule depending on age at time of adoption.   Dewormed All breeds are best guess from veterinarian based on physical exam.  All animals come from high kill shelters with poor access to resources.  Once they arrive to our rescue they are quarantined for health purposes and spoiled in loving foster homes until their forever home is found!  Our organization is operated 100% by volunteers who give their time and love out of the goodness of their hearts.   ##1868248##

Story
Meet Lincoln....... Lincoln is an adorable young boy, thought to be a Border Collie Mix. Like Border Collies, he’s very smart, a quick learner, very alert and quite energetic!! At age 9 months, he weighs 38 lbs. It is most important to note that we cannot be 100% sure of his adult weight, but our best guess is about 40ish lbs. This handsome boy joined BAARK from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky earlier this year. He is thought to have been born around December 23, 2022. He was a scared little puppy when entering our rescue program but has come out of his shell and has evolved into a playful, sociable, and somewhat mischievous boy. Lincoln is great with dogs outside of his foster home, but can be protective of his home and human, indoors. Most likely Lincoln would prefer being an only dog, receiving all the attention he deserves. However he could to ok with a calm easy-going female. He would probably be far too energetic for a senior (dog or human!) An ideal family for Lincoln is one able to assimilate the energy of a young boy into its lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Lincoln to be his best self! A secure, above-ground fenced yard is important. Lincoln would not thrive as an apartment dweller. Lincoln is crate-trained and is working on good house manners (housebreaking). He is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. He is neutered and microchipped as well. . For information about adding this adorable boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the far NW suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to this area.

Story
Ruby is a sweet, loving, playful and energetic girl looking for her forever home. Ruby is extremely bright and quickly learned sit, down, and the rules of the house. She is doing well with leash training too! Ruby’s favorite game is tug of war, and she loves walks although tires out easily! Ruby is not food motivated. She has never pulled food from open cabinets or gotten into unattended food. She and the resident cat have made peace and now hang out together. She has been an excellent guard dog so far! Ruby enjoys having a family and loves being part of the action. She loves younger people (teenagers) but has not been tested with young kids. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm negative.
