Story
Allie - Male Border Collie/Mountain Cur Mix (Breed and weight at full growth are BEST GUESS ONLY) Date of Birth 4/7/26 Alfie is a little ball of sweet fun. He loves to play with both his human and doggie foster family, both old and young. He is still learning basic puppy manners as well as potty training, but progressing nicely with both. (He will need someone home most of the day to continue with basic training) He is crate trained, but would very much prefer to be with whoever he chooses to be with at the moment. Can we say FOMO? Alfie would do best in a house where he will be included in activities or be given freedom to do as he pleases, once he is fully trained of course. He has seen and been around a cat and has shown no aggression, only interest (in the way of standing, looking, and barking). The cat has shown zero interest in getting to know Alfie. He loves to be snuggled and is very food motivated so training has been easy. Are you Allies forever family? If you think he would be a good fit for you and or your family. Please visit the rescue website www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org for our process, requirements and applications. WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Thank you for considering the adoption of one of our rescue dogs. We are committed to finding our rescues the perfect home. Together we can make a difference in the life of a dog. The adoption process should be a fun and exciting time for families and dogs. Our goal is to place our babies in forever homes. The potential adopter needs to be dedicated to their care and training for life. Understand that sharing your life with a dog can be a commitment of 15+ years. This would include feeding, exercise, training, vetting, and providing a loving home. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for this type of commitment?" If you are ready, we are here to help. We do have some requirements to help us find the perfect placement of our babies. WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BUILDING 1. Apply online at https://www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family (including other dogs) to approve an adoption. Only a final approval for adoption can take place after a successful meet and greet. This is done by appointments only. We will not proceed with the adoption if everyone has not met the dog. This will allow others the opportunity to adopt the dog. 2. Adopters MUST be 25 years old. Information on all adults/members living in the home is required We REQUIRE you to provide proof and vet reference that all current and past pets have been kept up to date on all routine medical. 3. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, 4. If you do not own your home, you must provide landlord contact information on the application and a copy of your lease that outlines the rules for dog ownership in your residence. Large breed dogs will not be adopted into apartment settings or where there are breed/ size restrictions. Puppies have special needs and require a home where someone is available to care for, socialize, and give basic training. If you are gone for more than a couple hours at a time, please consider adopting a teen or older dog. 5. Adoption fees are $425.00. We accept Zelle, Cash or Checks. (Prices are subject to change without notice). 6. All dogs and puppies adopted through Forever Home are fully vetted with age appropriate vaccines. Keep in mind once you take possession of your newly adopted dog, any and all future medical costs or care is YOUR responsibility. 7. First time puppy/dog adopters will be required to sign up for and pay in advance a basic training class. A deposit of an extra 50.00 will be required until a class has been completed, it will then be returned. 8. WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Medical included is as follows: Spay/Neuter (age appropriate) *Forever Home uses Fox Valley Animal Welfare League in Aurora, IL Age appropriate core vaccines Fecal testing and deworming Flea and tick preventative Microchipping Forever Home Dog Rescue reserves the right to deny any applicant.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ⭐️ Noah ⭐️ Noah is a 10.5-month-old Border Collie/Lab mix… and 100% lovable goofball. This fuzzy little lovebug is eager to please and just waiting for his forever person or family to choose him. What’s he like? Great with other dogs and loves to play. Equal parts Velcro pup and independent entertainer — he’ll happily dig through the toy basket and keep himself busy. Knows not to chew furniture or shoes, though socks and dryer sheets are his weakness (he’ll drop them when asked!). Can get overstimulated in chaotic environments and prefers slow introductions. He may take a minute to warm up, but he’s worth the wait. Once he trusts you, he is the sweetest snuggle bug who just wants to be close to his person. What can he do? Kennel trained (sleeps through the night and goes in on command). Fully potty trained with subtle but clear cues. Excellent in the car — calm, comfy, and observant. Recently graduated a 10-day obedience program! He knows “wait,” “place,” “come,” “heel,” loose-leash walking, and more. His perfect match? ✔️ Someone committed to continuing his training and staying consistent. ✔️ A confident, dog-savvy adopter who can guide him and help build his confidence. No cats please! Noah is smart, silly, and full of heart — he just needs someone ready to have his back forever. Story
Age: 1-2 years Breed: Border Collie mix Sex: Male Weight: 40 lbs Energy Level: Low-Medium Jesse is a young Border Collie mix who has been dealt a crummy beginning. He was found roaming the streets in a rural Kentucky town, starving. A kind person got him to rescue and fast forward to where he is now. He arrived with a broken front tooth and thanks to EVERYONE who donated to the procedure, Jesse was able to have that removed! He is now pain free and much more comfortable. Over time, he has shown himself to be a sensitive, athletic, and deeply loyal dog who does best with structure, patience, and people willing to give him time to adjust. As he’s grown more comfortable, his personality and enthusiasm for the outdoors have really started to emerge. He cracks us up as he LOVES to roll in the grass every chance that he gets as well as dragging his back legs through the grass in the most dramatic stretch possible. Jesse is a sensitive dog who will need a bit to fully adjust to a new home. When faced with change, his first instinct is often to shut down and observe. With patience, consistency, and confident leadership, he builds trust and becomes deeply devoted to his people (currently enjoying life as a 40 lb. lap dog). As his confidence has grown in foster care, Jesse’s playful, goofy personality has emerged. Once comfortable, he loves movement and is open to adventure. He now enjoys walks, runs, and even hikes, and he has done wonderfully with new experiences when given time and reassurance. Jesse is crate-trained, sleeps quietly through the night, and does well when left alone. He is potty-trained, knows basic cues like “sit” and “no,” and is very food-motivated, making him receptive to training. Like many young herding dogs, Jesse can be nippy during play, and we continue to work on appropriate play skills with him. He has a strong herding instinct and has shown herding and prey-drive behaviors toward cats and young children. While he is gentle at heart, his enthusiasm and instincts can be overwhelming for small kids. Jesse would do best in a cat-free home and a home without children, ideally with adults or older children familiar with herding breeds. Jesse currently lives with 2 female dogs and another male foster dog was in the house for a while. He does fabulous with both genders and respects direction from them when they disagree with something that he might have done to "annoy" them. For example, he loves to chase and wrestle and sometimes can run into the girls when not paying attention, which they may let him know that they didn't like it and he is like "ok, sorry!" Never a reaction back from him. He can be a noisy player (talkative) but quiets when asked. He has 2 rubber like balls that he LOVES LOVE LOVES. He snuggles with other toys but we have not seen him play with them like he does these balls. Jesse is protective of his family in the home. He is currently working on resource guarding with his foster family and has been receptive to training, but he may always benefit from having a clearly defined space that is his own where he can decompress and feel secure. He has been comfortable meeting new people outside while on walks. He was able to go on a 10 day Spring Break vacation with another foster home and did fabulous! He enjoyed meeting all their dogs and really enjoyed his new "people" for the week. Jesse is athletic and has an excellent nose. He may be a wonderful fit for some agility, scent work, or enrichment-based classes, which would help build his confidence and strengthen his bond with his future family. With the right home, one that understands herding breeds, values structure, and is willing to give him time, Jesse will thrive. He is loyal, sensitive, and full of promise, and once he bonds, he bonds deeply. Neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Reach out for more info on how he can join your home! Story
Marigold comes to us from San Antonio TX with 4 other siblings. She is the baby of the group a quiet little soul who's been easy to overlook, but is slowly starting to show us there's more to her story. Shes often been the most disengaged of the five, but it may simply be because her more confident siblings tend to take the spotlight. She looks to Magnolia for guidance and comfort, following her lead in new situations. And as Magnolia has started to grow more confident, we've seen Marigold begin to blossom too. Its those small, connected steps that are so special watching her build courage through the trust she places in her friend. Marigold has started coming to the front of her kennel and venturing outside during playgroups instead of staying tucked away inside. Shes interacting more with the environment and observing the world around her, slowly finding her footing. She does allow handling, but because she tends to let others take the lead, she can still be a bit of a challenge to actively engage with. She isn't very treat-motivated though, to be fair, her packmates are usually quicker to snatch them up first! Marigold is: Dog-friendly and gains confidence from her companions Gentle, observant, and quietly progressing Beginning to explore more of her surroundings Independent in her own subtle way, just at her own pace Marigold will thrive in a patient home that understands shy dogs and will celebrate the small wins. A calm, confident dog friend especially one she can bond with will help her continue to grow. She may not demand attention, but Marigold is quietly searching for someone who will see her, believe in her, and give her the chance to bloom. Marigold and the littermates will be in Elgin, IL the second week of July. These dogs didn't have the opportunity to experience much of the world before coming into rescue, so they are under-socialized and lacking confidence. With patience, love and gentle guidance, we believe they will continue to make incredible progress.

Story
Meadow is the heart of her little pack -a gentle ringleader who shows the others what bravery looks like, one small step at a time. She and four other young dogs came from a property in San Antonio where they had almost no human interaction. The only person they knew was an elderly man who would step outside to leave food and water. Because of that, Meadow is still learning what it means to feel safe with people. Despite her shyness, Meadow is the most social of the group and the first to approach. Shell come up to the kennel, sniff your hand, and especially if you have treats she will gather the courage to get a little closer. Shes treat-motivated and will gently take them from you, which is a big step forward for a pup who's still figuring out trust. Right now, touch can still feel scary to her, but shes curious and willing and that's everything. With patience, kindness, and a calm home (bonus points for a confident dog friend!), Meadow has so much potential to blossom into a wonderful companion. Meadow is: Dog-friendly Curious and quietly brave Treat-motivated Learning to trust, one step at a time She deserves a chance at a new life, one where shes not just surviving, but truly loved. If you have a gentle heart and the patience to let her come out of her shell, Meadow will reward you with the kind of bond that only comes from giving a shy dog a second chance. Ready to help Meadow bloom? Reach out to meet her. Meadow and the littermates will be in Elgin, IL the second week of July.

Story
Mingo is the charming, scruffy boy of the group from a Texas kill shelter with big ears and wiry hair that give him an irresistibly unique look. He's the third most social of his pack, and with every interaction, you can see his confidence growing. Coming from a background with very little human contact, Mingo is learning step by step that people can be kind and safe. The progress hes made has been so encouraging, especially with the help of a trusted female handler. Through her guidance and participation in playgroups, Mingo has started to truly come out of his shell. He now regularly leaves his kennel to explore the yard, investigate new things, and spend time playing with other dogs. Even better, hes begun greeting us when we approach a huge milestone for a shy pup like him! While handling is still a bit of a challenge, hes clearly on a positive path and gaining confidence with each session. Mingo is: Dog-friendly and enjoys playgroups Slowly building confidence with each interaction Especially responsive to female handlers Curious, improving, and eager to explore Mingo will need a patient, understanding home that can continue helping him feel safe and secure. A friendly dog companion and a calm environment will go a long way in helping him keep progressing. With time, encouragement, and love, Mingo is going to be an incredible companion. Mingo and the littermates will be in Elgin, IL the second week of July. These dogs didn't have the opportunity to experience much of the world before coming into rescue, so they are under-socialized and lacking confidence. With patience, love and gentle guidance, we believe they will continue to make incredible progress.
