Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human.  If you would like to be considered for the boys please fill out an adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!February 26, 2024, 10:22 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Update 3.8.2014 Buddy is now 2 years old and will be a work in progress. Buddy needs an experienced dog person, he cn not be allowed off leash EVER, he needs someone willing to get him out ofhis shell.  Posted 1/14/13 Buddy was in a very bad situation, born in a barn and not socialized or fed on a regualar basis.  He is very shy and with a little work can become a wonderful companion,.  He is about 10 months old and weighs 38lbs so he will be a meduim sized dog.  He is slowly getting used to being in a house since it is all foreign to him.  He is much more comfortable outside and PLAYS like a champ! This dog does need a fenced yard!!   His adoption fee is $200, BUT remember he needs a little work to be your BEST BUDDY!!  All the dogs are Spayed or Neutered, Heartworm/Lyme tested, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas and overall Vet checked. We offer a 30 day money back guarantee along with an adoption kit . Application REQUIRED. We take the applications in the order that we receive them. Adoption fee required. If interested contact Denise @ (717) 469-7325. Story
Bruno is a very kind doggie. He loves people and kids. He plays well with other dogs, but tends to get too rough with smaller dogs, especially puppies that I watch/board at times. I don't think he realizes he isn't little guy himself. He is up to date on all shots, he is microchipped, and he is neutered. He turned one In November 23. He is house and crate trained, but he will sometimes have occasional accidents. I think its more so based on he smells other dogs. I watch and foster dogs at my house. He is ok on leash, but sometime apprehensive as he thinks he is going to vet :). He doesn't pull or run away. He would stay by your side the entire time without a leash. He loves people and is a big baby lol He grew up first 4 months on a farm with his herding family, so he has very strong herding instincts. He will shower you with kisses and nap cuddles, especially kids. He has grown near my kids who are now 5 and 4, and never one issue. The $20 fee is only to cover the listing fee.

Story
How did this precious young lady end up as a stray? It appears that someone had previously worked with her and perhaps even trained her to be an indoor pet. She shows a strong desire to make her humans happy and is eager to please. She loves all humans, even the really small ones. She does well with cats, cows and other dogs as well. She loves to go for rides in anything. Leash walks are a breeze for Angel, showcasing her excellent behavior. Whoever welcomes Angel into their home will undoubtedly find themselves incredibly fortunate. She has all the qualities of an exceptional companion. Angel is a happy, healthy girl who is ready for her forever home. If you are interested in adopting me or any of my Funny Farm friends please visit funnyfarmpets.org to read all about our TN based rescue and how the adoption and transport process works, read about all the vetting I will have before coming home, and you will also find the link to submit the adoption application. Apply at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FFRR/Dog The adoption fee is $325 and transport is an additional $200. This pet is currently in a foster home in TN and will be transported north after the adoption is complete. To see the meeting locations, please click on the transport tab at funnyfarmpets.org

Story
Loki is a wonderful dog. I’m just having issues with house training him for the most part he will go outside, but will have accidents inside if left unattended the situation is, I took him in to prevent him from going to the pound but I realize now that I don’t have the resources for him that he needs so desperately one being a yard, he’s very loyal, very faithful and a very loving dog and has a ton of energy. My wife is pregnant with our fourth child, and we simply will not have the room to have him in the house. Once this baby is born.hes very protective of the ones he loves and I just want what’s best for him he deserves it

Story
Bubba is 6 years old and he is a Border Collie. He is a very loving dog but suffers from separation anxiety. He gets along with other dogs, but isn't the best with kids. Were hoping to find him a home, so he can have a backyard to run and stretch his legs. He loves going outside and he is house trained. He uses a leash or harness to get around when we walk him outside. He has had issues with his skin, but the vet wasn't able to identify what was causing this issue, what they believe it was allergies.
