Meet Kip: The Border Collie Who Didn't Read the Border Collie Manual If your idea of a perfect Saturday involves sleeping until noon and binge-watching TV, Kip respectfully suggests you keep scrolling. But if you're looking for a running buddy, hiking partner, or someone to guilt you into actually sticking to that "I'm training for my first 10K" promise... Kip has already laced up her imaginary running shoes. At around a year old and 30 pounds (she could stand to gain a few more), Kip is all enthusiasm. She'll happily chase, run, explore, and make sure life never gets boring. Now, Border Collies are rumored to be among the smartest dogs on the planet. I'm not saying Kip is questioning that statistic... but let's just say she's currently earning a solid B student status. She has plenty of enthusiasm, occasionally skips the homework, and sometimes gets distracted by her own feet. Fortunately, she's incredibly eager to please, which counts for a lot. Speaking of Border Collie things... yes, the herding instinct is alive and well. When I throw a ball for my Shepherd mix, Kip immediately appoints herself Assistant Herding Manager and tries to direct traffic by gently nipping at his heels. He couldn't care less because BALL, but she'd do best with someone who understands the breed and can give that busy brain and body an appropriate job. The good news? She's incredibly sweet. Kip is generous with kisses, loves the other dogs in my home, ignored both my foster kittens and barn cat after a quick sniff, and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate. She's also making great progress with her house training and leash manners. Kip isn't looking for someone who wants the easiest dog. She's looking for someone who wants a dog they'll have adventures with. The person who smiles when the trail gets longer, who doesn't mind a little dirt on their shoes, and who knows that life is simply more fun with a slightly goofy Border Collie by their side. Kip is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and ready to find her forever adventure partner. Apply here https://www.centraltexasruffugees.org/copy-of-foster

Story
Meet Shep, a smart and energetic dog who adores water and swimming. His playful nature shines when he's splashing around or chasing his favorite toys. He is equal parts playful goof and total heartthrob who thrives on adventure and activity. Shep lives for a good romp in the yard, a spirited game of tug, and quality hangout time with his people. He enjoys going for walks while keenly observing the world around him. Easy on the leash, Shep is still learning that bikes and motorcycles are safe to encounter while walking. Shep is charming and outgoing, house-trained, good with dogs, and mastering commands in APA’s Total Obedience Program (TOP). Despite his energetic nature, Shep also has a loving side and enjoys spending quality time with those who share his zest for life. He thrives on interaction and would make a delightful companion for anyone who enjoys an active lifestyle. Shep can be wary of accepting affection with new people, but solicits pets when he feels the time is right. He snuggles just as hard as he plays, and would thrive in a home where he can feel secure, follow a predictable routine, and be part of the family. Ideal for an active individual or adult only home, Shep is ready to accompany you on all your adventures, whether it's a hike in the woods or a jog in the park. Adopting Shep means bringing home endless joy and a loyal friend who's always ready for the next adventure.

(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Bronx was adopted from the Humane Society of Silicon Valley (HSSV) on April 23, 2023. He was 11 weeks old and weighed 9.20 lbs. and presumed to be a Border Collie Mix but staff was unsure what he was mixed with. Since his adoption he has completed the required Puppy Training course provided by HSSV while also receiving continued training by his family. Bronx is potty trained, knows the basic commands (sit, stay, leave it, etc..) but could benefit from more extensive and regular training and strong leadership from pack leader or family. Bronx loves to run, fetch and socialize with other dogs and people. He has been trained to be both on and off leash and responds to commands when off leash; but keep in mind he's still a puppy and sometimes gets distracted and may need commands repeated. Bronx also can get a little over excited when it comes to meeting other dogs and people and may jump on them or at them to greet them. BRONX IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN CALIFORNIA.

Story
Maisy is generally a very sweet girl, but she is a working breed and full of energy that I'm now less able to take care of. She's about 4-5 years old. I got her 2.5 years ago from a cousin who found her on the side of the road, untagged, but they weren't able to keep her. She loves squeaky toys, playing fetch, walks and car rides. At the time I got her I only had a cat who she loves to chase and he tolerates her. Since then I've adopted another dog, and while 99% of the time they get along great, every once in a while there will be a moment of high excitement or over-stimulation that sets Maisy off. Also, being a herding dog she fixates on my young nieces and nephews when they play, trying to herd them and the high energy play, and screaming clearly gets her amped up and I have to restrain her before she gets too into it.She is such a sweet girl that I would hate to put her into a shelter, that would be a terrible place for her personality, but she just can't fit in my family anymore.

Story
Mousey is an adorable dog and will make a perfect family pet! She loves all other dogs and romps and plays all day at the ranch with many other breeds...kind of like a dog park in reverse. She came from a very high-kill shelter in California and had been dumped as a puppy in the hard streets of a high-crime area. She had one friend in the world, Sopita, who was also saved by Dogtown. When she first got to the ranch, she could not be separated from her friend, but she quickly found a hundred other buddies and learned that life can be a good thing after all. Mousey loves to play, chase a ball and also fun to cuddle. Please get in touch and meet our precious Mousey who wants a family to call her own.May 22, 2024, 5:48 am

Little Lucy was saved being given away in front of a store to just anyone. Luckily our good friend and fellow rescuer at Dogtown Ranch scooped up Little Lucy. All of her littermates died, but thanks to Dogtown, Lucy has survived. She is super gentle and a very calm dog for a little puppy. Super dog friendly and gets along with all the other dogs at Dogtown. Please give us a call today to arrange a meeting with our precious Little Lucy.May 22, 2024, 5:48 am
