Story
Penny is an adorable 6 year old, 62 lb. Boxer / Hound mix rescue. We adopted her as a puppy from Pets Without Parents in Columbus, OH. She loves her humans very much and is always excited to greet them and cuddle. She is high energy and enjoys running, taking walks, trips to the park and playing fetch. She does not like loud noises, car rides or being alone for long periods of time. Because of her high energy, she would do best in a home with yard allowing her room to run. We will be sad to see Penny go. We love her very much and she's been a wonderful addition to our family. It has become necessary to rehome her only because of changes in our family structure. She deserves better than we can give her right now. She is in good health and will make a wonderful, loving companion for years to come.

Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but occasionally mistakes one for a toy when she is over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. She is not too fond of puppies getting in her face either. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She could perhaps use more obedience training with someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved family member, and she needs a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Columbus, Cincinnati, or Akron Ohio. She is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Story
My story Here's what the humans have to say about me: Meet Bertha Say hello to Bertha! Bertha is a beautiful Boxer mix who is approximately 1.5 to 2 years old and currently weighs 40 pounds. She ended up in the dog pound along the Border of Mexico. The animal control officers loved her, and ask us to please help! We are very happy we were able to rescue her and help her find a forever home! Bertha is a very happy and playful gal! She gets along well with the other dogs in her playgroup here at the rescue, and is amazing on a leash!!! She has so much potential with the right family to teach her!! She is just so happy to learn! She does still have some puppy energy, so would do best in an active home with older kiddos where she can go on lots of walks, runs and/or hike, She is a very smart girl who learns quickly and wants love and attention so badly! She craves being with people! A basic obedience class would be great for her, she wants to please and is very treat motivated! Bertha is a wonderful girl who would be a loyal and loving companion to a loving family! Bertha is located at our rescue in Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to Columbus, OHIO on April 13th, with approved application! She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $400. The fee includes the transport cost. *Bertha tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. Story
Meet Buddy!! This handsome fella is an extremely sweet and affectionate pup! He is great with other dogs as well as cats and kittens. His foster mom says he is so cute with the kittens in their home. She also says that Buddy listens and minds really well! He knows a few commands and is happily motivated by toys and treats. Buddy is not a chewer! Unless it’s a dog toy, because he loves his toys!! He’s not a big barker either and sleeps through the night. Buddy is neutered, potty trained and kennel trained. He is dang near perfect!! He has such a loving personality and so many great attributes; all he is missing is a family to call his own. Once adopted Buddy will travel via RescueVet private transport (transport cost is $160.00 each) to a location closest to you. Story
Miss Gracie is a happy lady looking for a home to call her own. Despite being a middle aged girl she still has some energy left and would greatly appreciate an outlet for her zoomies before she's ready to snuggle up with you. She is a big fan of toys and loves a good game of tug. She is an instant lover and warms up to people quickly, and is quite the cuddle-bug once you're her friend. Gracie loves her people so much that she would prefer to be the only pet in the home. If you are interested in meeting Gracie, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Looking for somebody to keep you active? Meet Richard! Richard is a very typical young boxer, he is go go go and will need an active family to keep him busy. Unfortunately Richard has not been doing well here in the shelter environment and is is struggling to maintain a healthy weight, but he should bounce right back once he's settled in at home! He is a rough player and would do best with older children. He loves other dogs but because of his rough Boxer playstyle he will need a doggy playmate who is equally tolerant of his puppy antics. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in for a meet and greet before taking Richard home. If you are interested in meeting with Richard, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit.
