He’s been in foster care for two years, and during that time he’s shown himself to be an incredibly loving, well-mannered, and loyal companion. Like many thoughtful dogs, Paxton can take a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does, his sweet and affectionate personality shines through. It doesn’t take long at all for him to relax and show just how loving and loyal he is. Paxton is off-leash trained using a remote collar and does beautifully with structure and guidance. He’s house trained, happily crates (his crate is his safe space), and settles well in the home. He’s the kind of dog who thrives on routine but also knows how to relax and just be near his people. One of Paxton’s favorite things? Other dogs. He absolutely loves canine companionship and would do best in a home with another friendly dog to play with and learn from. He`s been out with our run club, hike group, and loves his play time with toys. Time spent out and about with Montel is full of good natured antics, as he loves to ham it up for attention! Montel has also been playful with other dogs in play group and might enjoy having a canine playmate in his future home too.As goofy as he can be, Montel also has a bright mind on his shoulders. He`s quite attentive to his people, especially once he`s had a chance to burn off some of his yayas. He can still have moments of being bouncy and excitable, but with a regular routine outside the kennel, we think he will be quick to pick up on cues. Martha, my dear! Martha is a sweet, mild-mannered pup who can be summed up as a `very nice lady.` She is a lovable doll from her luxurious neck rolls to her wiggly nubbin tail. At around 5 years young, Martha has the mature spirit and manners of an adult but still enjoys getting in her daily activity - so she will be happy to join you as a snuggle buddy on the couch just as much as she`ll be glad to help you get your steps in on walks. Martha is curious and likes to explore on walks. She is a gentle, lower-key gal though can be strong on leash at times. She can also entertain herself by playing with a toy for a while, before she`s ready to chill out. Martha seems like a mama dog who has evidently had a few litters in her life, but she`s ready for her turn to be pampered, and she is probably missing the comforts of a home. Martha consistently keeps her kennel clean, so we believe she is housebroken. She also sits very well when asked, holding still as though she is a professional. She is overall a good listener, and loves her treats. With other dogs in play group, she was playful with a softer socialization style. She sometimes perks up around other dogs, and with her little tail stub wagging excitedly. Martha tested positive for heartworm when she arrived at the kennel, but she doesn`t want to let this stop her from living life to the fullest. Fortunately, heartworm is treatable and cost is covered thanks to Friends of CITY DOGS Cleveland. Meet Onyx!! Onyx is a 3 yr old mix breed weighing 65 lbs. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows his basic commands (sit, stay, down). Onyx is very smart and sure sweet! He walks okay on lead but could use some training. Onyx is friendly with everyone he meets, including dogs. Due to his large size, we feel he would do best in a home with children over the age of 10 years old. Onyx is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. He has beautiful eyes and a wonderful personality! A fenced in yard is best for Onyx, so he can have the freedom to run and play! We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process.
