Story
Mongo is a three year old hound mix breed who weighs in at a approximately 45 pounds. Mongo is extremely friendly and likes to play with other dogs and toys and needs someone who wants a buddy for life who wants to be by your side all the time. He is also good with cats. He does know some basic commands, but still needs a little work on some manners. Mongo is neutered as had his shots (will need a booster) and is house broken. He’s also crate trained although he prefers to be with his human of course! We prefer a home with no young children just because he has to warm up at first to new people, and he might accidentally knock a young child over, or be a little much for wee little ones. A fenced yard is preferred so that he can get a lot of his energy out. Help Mongo have a wonderful Christmas and bring him to your forever home! *Mongo is part of our foster to adopt program. For an application, please email us at: muttsandmore@comcast.net

Story
Hi everyone...My name is REX and I am up for ADOPTION aka looking for my forever home through Cross Your Paws Rescue. I'm estimated to be 3 y.o. but my foster mom thinks I am younger. My foster mom did a DNA test and the results are a Heinz 57 mix... I have 22% american pit bull terrier, 17% Treewalker Coonhound,14% Grest Pyrenees, 7% Boxer...I arrived in PA on 10/19/25 weighing in at 47lbs... but I now weigh a healthy 53 lbs. - No accidents in my foster home.- I am super dog friendly and would love a permanent home with a puppy sibling (probably a sibling my size or larger would be best) to continue to show me the ropes. If thats not ideal then I would do great in a house where my family was home a lot with a fenced in yard. I do not require a lot of exercise but I am super happy to walk/hike/explore as well. I have great stamina.- My mom works night shift but so far I am happy to snuggle close and sleep without a peep during the day and night.- I do not like being in a crate away from my family I prefer to snuggle on the bed if allowed.- I love to be as close to my person as I can- I do not beg for food when you are eating but simply lay down at your feet.- I do not jump on anyone but my foster mom when she comes home. She is trying to help me learn that's not ideal even though Im so excited to see her. (My foster sister does it, so I think I should.)- I do not bite.- I did great visiting with a 11 y.o boy in the house and outside while he was running around me.  I am working on...- learning on my basic commands - (UPDATE- for some reason I do not like to sit on command, it appears to make me nervous).- learning no one (especially the men) wants to hurt me. (UPDATE- I love my foster dad and lay/sleep beside him, when mom is not home, but if he goes to pet my head I'm still scared)- learning car rides can be for fun things (UPDATE- I love going on rides but I require a seat belt to keep me inside when the windows are open)- learning the feral cats/wildlife are not allowed to be chased (UPDATE- when my mom tells me to leave it - I do not chase the outside cats)- learning on my recall... but my tree walker coonhound nose makes me want to get on a trail and not use my ears the best.  (UPDATE- I am working on off leash in my yard and on hikes and doing well!) We will continue to update Rex and all the good things he is learning... please SHARE to help him find his home! ##2546643##

Story
Meet Ray – A Brave Soul with a Heart Full of Love Ray is a 3-year-old Boxer with a gentle spirit and an unbreakable heart. Though he’s blind, Ray doesn’t let that stop him from living life with love and courage. His Story: Ray was found wandering the streets alone, starving and completely blind. We can only imagine how frightening it must have been for him to survive without being able to see. Despite being thin, anemic, and exhausted, Ray still greeted rescuers with kindness and trust — proof of his incredible spirit. Medical Notes: Thanks to many generous donors, Ray received a full eye evaluation and was diagnosed with Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). This condition means he has lost nearly all of his vision and can only detect faint shadows or changes in light. While there’s no treatment to restore his sight, daily supplements can help preserve what little vision he has left. Personality; Ray has shown amazing resilience. In just a few short weeks, he’s learned the layout of the shelter and continues to grow more confident every day. His playful, silly side shines through as he learns to trust and navigate his world. Ray enjoys gentle affection, soft voices, and his favorite toys. Once he bonds with you, he’ll reward your patience with unwavering loyalty and love. Home Needs: Ray may do well with calm, friendly dogs (meet and greets are always required). We’re not sure how he feels about cats, but with slow introductions, it may be possible. He would thrive in a quieter, adult-only home with a patient family willing to guide him and give him the safe, stable life he’s been waiting for. Could You Be His Match? Ray has been through so much, yet his heart remains open. He’s ready for a soft place to land and a family who will see him for the brave, gentle boy he truly is.

Story
Hi everyone! This girl is Jussy. She’s a 9 year old boxer mix and she is the heart of everyone here at SHPR…especially mine personally. Jussy has been here for 6 years. 6 YEARS!!! 😢 That is 6 years without a comfy bed to snuggle her loved one on, 6 years without a couch to stretch out on while watching the basketball playoffs, 6 years without the love she so truly deserves. She loves people of all ages! She gets up on my 11 year old stepsons lap and smooches all over him. She absolutely would be everyone’s best friend! The reason she is still here is because she needs to be an only pet. Surely there has to be someone that has a fabulous family and no other pets and they are looking for the perfect dog to bring home with them?!?!? I’m begging, please share her post. If you know someone that is looking, please ask them to just come meet her..because once they do, they will be in love like we are! For the right family, I will sponsor her adoption fee myself. We are currently open Tuesday-Thursday by appointment only, and Fri and Sat 12-5, Sun and Mon from 11-5. Facebook comments and questions are NOT monitored. If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment during the week, please email us at shpr88@yahoo.com. No calls please!! We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Story
Meet Bradley Bradley is a super spunky, happy-go-lucky guy around 2 years old and about 30 pounds. You can see he has an athletic little frame, a short coat with warm brown and white markings, and is alert and curious. His big ears stand straight up when he’s focused, giving him an irresistibly expressive look, and his adorable stubby, kinked tail perfectly matches his upbeat personality. Bradley came to us from animal control, and while we don’t know much about his past, it’s clear he’s ready to embrace life with enthusiasm. He’s full of energy and joy, always eager to interact, give kisses, and soak up attention from his people. His attention span is very much that of a young dog—short and easily distracted—but he is very food motivated, which makes training a great opportunity to bond with him. Bradley is dog selective and has not been tested with cats. Proper introductions, management, and continued training will be important to help him succeed in a home environment. He is still learning the basics and will need ongoing work with: —Basic commands —Polite manners —Impulse control —Appropriate greetings Bradley will thrive with an adopter who understands that young dogs need consistency, structure, and patience. Daily exercise, mental stimulation, and positive reinforcement training will be essential to help him channel his energy in healthy ways. He needs someone who can keep up with his playful nature and commit to helping him grow into a well-mannered companion. Once Bradley winds down, he’s all about affection. After a busy day, he’s happy to cuddle on the couch and enjoy some well-earned downtime with his people. Bradley is looking for a home that’s ready for the responsibility of dog ownership—time, training, exercise, and guidance included. In return, he offers endless love, laughter, and loyalty. If you’re searching for an energetic, affectionate companion who’s eager to learn and loves with his whole heart, Bradley may be the perfect match for you. Story
Meet Buttercup! This spunky, happy-go-lucky girl is about 3–4 years old and came to us from animal control. Buttercup is friendly, outgoing, and full of enthusiasm for life. She truly loves people and greets everyone as a potential new best friend. Snacks, walks, toys—you name it, Buttercup is all in. Buttercup already knows how to sit and is working on her manners, especially learning not to jump when she’s excited. She’s a smart, high-energy girl who thrives with structure, consistency, and positive training. She is both food- and toy-motivated, making her a fun and rewarding partner for continued training and enrichment. She can be selective with other dogs and has lived with cats before, though she sometimes needs reminders not to chase them. Buttercup does well with kids, but because she’s energetic and still polishing her manners, she could accidentally knock over smaller children. Buttercup will do best with an adopter who understands responsible dog ownership and is committed to meeting her physical and mental needs through regular exercise, training, supervision, and clear boundaries. Ongoing socialization, routine veterinary care, and continued positive reinforcement will help her be her best self. After a day of adventure, Buttercup is just as happy to snuggle up on the couch. She has the cutest face and is wonderfully cooperative for nail trims, baths, and vet visits. Buttercup is looking for an active, committed home ready to invest the time and care she deserves in exchange for a loyal, loving companion. Story
Meet Callie, a lively American Pit Bull Terrier mix who’s ready to bring fun, adventure, and plenty of personality into her new home. Mostly brown with a bright white chest, Callie came to us from animal control and has quickly shown us just how much zest for life she has. She is truly a ball of energy and would thrive with an active family who loves walks, playtime, and outdoor adventures. Callie has a very unique way of expressing herself—she doesn’t bark like a typical dog. Instead, she lets out a hilarious, seal-like “song of her people” when she’s excited or wants attention. It’s unlike anything you’ve heard before, and we’ll be sure to get a little video to show off her signature sound! Due to her high energy and tendency to get excited and possibly knock over small children, Callie would do best in a home with older kids. She is dog selective, so slow, proper introductions are important, and she is not good with cats. If you’re looking for a fun, expressive, unforgettable companion who will keep you smiling, Callie might be your girl.
