· Intake Reason: surrendered, not getting along with other dogKnown with:· Cats: unknown· Dogs: lived with 2 yr old Husky and 2 yr old Rottweiler, both neutered males. Only dog to have issue with in home is Husky. Has attended dog park and doggy day care.· Kids: exposed to various ages and did well.· Personality: Very playful and loves tennis balls and fetch. Tends to pull on the leash a bit and is very personable. Knows: sitHello, my name is Rufus and I am a debonair gentleman who is currently in the market for a new home. I lived with a family almost my whole life and things were lovely. I do well with most other dogs and had fun playing at the dog park and with the neighborhood dogs and also got to romp at doggy daycare. When a Rottweiler and a Husky came to live with me, the Rottie was a compatible roommate but the Husky was a bit high-strung for my taste. To keep peace in the home, my people decided that I should come to WCHS to find a new family. I am a sweet and charming lad with loads of love to give so I am confident that I will find a loving home with a consistent leader. Although I am comfortable in a crate, in my previous home I was so respectful of my human's things I was able to roam around freely when I was alone. At night I had the luxury of sleeping in my person's bed and that was lovely; we could snuggle all night long. I had learned to sit by the door and whine to ask to go outside so I could potty. When I get into my new home it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities to use the outdoor facilities until we learn each other's signals and routines. I am an active boy (some even say hyper) who thrives on physical and mental exercise. I also have a quiet and affectionate side; do you think 70 pounds is too big to hang out on your lap? I am a smart lad and already know the cues for ‘sit' and ‘down'; maybe we could take some classes together so I could learn more human words. I like to keep my brain busy so I like learning and playing challenging games like ‘find-it' or nose work. Foraging mats and brain teaser toys that utilize my nose are tons of fun. I certainly hope you stop by so we can meet in person and you will agree that I am delightful and endearing.#1

Story
Introducing Tutti, the lovable Boxer mix with a heart full of affection and a zest for life! Hi, I'm Tutti, a spirited and affectionate Boxer mix ready to bring joy to your life! With my charming personality and playful nature, I'm the perfect companion for anyone seeking a loyal and loving pet. I absolutely adore my humans and thrive on cuddles and quality time together. Whether we're snuggled up on the couch or enjoying a leisurely walk in the park, I'll be right by your side, wagging my tail with excitement. I find great pleasure in the company of my loved ones and will shower you with endless affection and loyalty. One of my favorite pastimes is chasing balls and toys. Throw one my way, and I'll happily engage in an enthusiastic game of fetch. I'm always up for outdoor adventures, so count me in for long walks, hikes, or exploring new places. The fresh air and open spaces truly bring out the best in me! If there's another furry friend in the house, I'm sure we'll have a blast playing tug of war together. I thrive in the company of larger canine companions, and their presence brings out my playful side. Having a four-legged friend around helps me feel even more content and fulfilled. I take pride in my impeccable house manners. I am housebroken and have mastered the art of kennel training, though I must admit that I have a soft spot for the couch or your cozy bed. After a day full of activities, nothing makes me happier than curling up beside you for a well-deserved snuggle session. If you're looking for an affectionate, fun-loving, and loyal companion, look no further than me, Tutti! Together, we'll create cherished memories and embark on countless adventures. I'm ready to become an integral part of your loving home and bring an abundance of joy and companionship into your life. So, what are you waiting for? Let's start our incredible journey together! **Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved a meet and greet with the dog. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Wisconsin applications are priority, but Illinois applications will be considered if no small children are present in the home, the home is owned, and excellent vet reference can be provided. We cannot process applications from other states. Adoption fee is $350 unless otherwise noted above. Puppies under 1 year of age accept application for families with children over 6 years of age for large breeds and over 8 years of age for small breeds. Since they are still puppies, dogs under 1 will require a basic obedience and puppy training class, and spay/neuter at the owners expense. Story
Hey there, pals! The name's Cosmo, and boy, do I have a tail to wag for ya! Picture this: a snow white poochie with teefers so cute, they could melt even the iciest heart. Yep, that's me! Now, let me tell you a bit about my journey. I started off as a wanderer, just me and the open road. But then, life took a turn, and I found myself in one of those not-so-friendly places they call a kill shelter. Yikes, right? But hey, I'm not one to let the ruff stuff get me down! See, despite the tough breaks, I'm all about spreading joy and love. I mean, who wouldn't be happy with a tail that wags like a windshield wiper in a storm? I'm a social butterfly, folks! I love other dogs, and I'm always up for a game of fetch or a cozy snuggle session. I love rolling in the grass on my back and getting belly rubs from my people. Into dog parks? ME TOO! I LOVE hanging out with furry pals and doing “dog stuff”. I’m the kind of pooch that would love a doggie day care too! I’ve never met a stranger and despite being where I am and currently homeless, I’m always looking on the bright side and smiling! But here's the thing, pals: I'm ready to trade these Georgia shelter walls for a cozy home up in Wisconsin and officially be "Homeward Bound." Can you blame a pup for dreaming big? So, if you're looking for a furry friend with a heart of GOLD and a smile that lights up the room, look no further 'cause I'm your guy! I HOPE someone will pick me to come to Wisconsin. I’m the best boy (that’s what the people here tell me!). Kennels are filling up fast here at the shelter and soon I may have to give mine up. I hear something about being “out of time”? FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.

Story
Peppermint Patty is a 2 year old mixed breed who couldn’t possibly be sweeter. She came to Wisconsin in December filled to the brim with puppies & gave birth to eight perfect Peanuts in her foster home in January. After some much-needed relaxation & rest from being the best mama, she is ready to find her family! She’s about 40lb, is crate trained, & is doing very well with potty training when kept on a schedule. Peppermint is very food-motivated & eager to please, so continued training should be a breeze. She gets along great with other dogs & kids. Cats are unknown, but it’s assumed she’ll do just fine.Get your application in to learn more about her!DATCP#483538

You get a 5 day trial with me in your home. Put in your application soon!*** Please help me get out! I am currently in a place where there are lots of unwanted dogs and not all of us here get the chance I might have to leave! But in order to help me out of here to catch the ride to WI on April 26th and arrive on April 27th, I need *both* a sponsor, and a WI foster home *or* a WI adopter! I have a place for now, but I can't stay here forever and I am worried. The rescue has put a hold on me to save my spot on the trip up north to WI, but now they need YOUR help to get me there - don't wait!!! Updated: 4/18/2024 Dog Name: Avery Sex: Female Estimated Breed Mix: Boxer Mix  Approximate Age: 9 weeks old Approximate Weight: 10-12 lbs. Description: Avery and Noah were the only two born in their litter! They have been best buddies and good siblings to each other, they are gentle and love to play together! They take long naps and still follow their momma around. Love bugs! Adoption Fee: $550.00We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered at one of our preferred clinics. This will be determined by your contract along with the month they should have their surgery. This is included in your adoption fee. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as PENDING, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. April 22, 2024, 11:11 pm
