Story
Born on May 7, 2023. Has 5 other siblings.* All are ready for adoption. Never been outside - flea free. Eating hard cat food. Weaned. Litterbox trained. I am NOT 100% certain of the sex of the kittens so make sure to double check before finalizing the adoption. "Are dilute calico cats rare? Yes, even female dilute calico cats are rare. As we saw above, only one in every 1,000 cats is born a standard calico and dilute calico cats are that much harder to come by. One of the reasons for this is that the dilution gene is what’s known as a recessive gene. That means that a more dominant gene can mask it and a kitten would need to inherit the dilution gene from both parents in order to be born a dilute calico. "...- so, consider yourself very lucky indeed if you become the pet parent to one of these beauties." https://www.petsradar.com/advice/dilute-calico-cat

Story
Say hello to MATTIE! -Adult (~3-5 years) -Dedicated biscuit maker -Powerful purr and sandpaper kisses! -A bit of an enigma, afraid of life itself -This kitty has behavioral considerations and will require medications and a special diet Mattie came into rescue very shut down, and has made some slow but steady progress in foster care with a calm environment and gentle routine, but her emotional comfort zone remains…contained. Literally. Fostering Mattie brings irony to the concept of foster home based rescue, considering the whole point is so that cats don't have to remain isolated, but solitude is truly Mattie's safe space: she has a single spare room all to herself, and will not come out of it. She’ll need a very special adopter; someone with a bounty of both time and patience to help unravel this fuzzy little ball of neuroticism. (And handling skills, as we would not consider her the easiest kitty to medicate, and the sensitive tummy makes for secretly medicated treats a challenge). Mattie lives with SIGNIFICANT anxiety that makes new environments and people overwhelming for her. She is very easily stressed and now that she is finally starting to become a bit more “cat-like” in her foster environment, we are eager to send her off to blossom in her forever environment. Despite her persistent state of “I Am Afraid,” she is truly soft at heart. She greets her food with enthusiasm, is passionate about fuzzy blankies, enjoys birdwatching from her cat tree, and is also a fan of chin scritchies and brushies. She has a proud purr and quite impressively (and perhaps slightly unsettingly) large eyeballs. Mattie’s anxiety does not actually present itself in a fractious nature; she doesn’t bite, she just hides when overwhelmed. Mattie wouldn’t hurt a fly. In fact, she is probably afraid of them. She is otherwise in good health, fully vaccinated, spayed, and also recently had her teeth cleaned.   What kind of home does Mattie need? -Quiet and low-stress -Patient and observant -Experienced with or open to supporting a behaviorally complex cat with medication needs -Okay with a cat who may always be a bit of a nervous nellie Just think of Mattie as the embodiment of “introvert energy.” Her current routine consists of liquid gabapentin by mouth twice daily, transdermal fluoxetine in the morning, and a hydrolyzed diet to keep her anxious tummy happy. So if you’re patient, motivated by even the tiniest progress, and emotionally fluent in “cat,” Mattie might just be your tiny, ghost-eyed soulmate.  Included with the adoption is the kitty's spay, all current-due FVRCP, FeLeuk, and rabies vaccinations for kitties over 1-year, deworming, flea treatment, a wellness check, FIV/FeLV combo testing, and microchipping. We offer a 2-week getting acquainted period and a 2-week wellness guarantee, so you can comfortably settle in with your new kitty! To apply to adopt, please complete an adoption inquiry at www.bluesmews.org so our adoption specialist volunteer can review it and contact you!

Story
Meet Claire! If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion, Claire is your girl! This beautiful tortie breaks every stereotype about the typical “tortitude.” From the moment she arrived in her foster home after being surrendered to a shelter, Claire’s only goal was to make friends. She immediately sought out affection from both people and the resident cats, happily rubbing against her new feline companions and wanting to be part of the group. Claire surprised everyone when it was discovered she was pregnant shortly after arriving in foster care. She lovingly gave birth to two healthy kittens and proved to be an exceptional mother. Her babies were always well-fed, well-cared-for, and showered with love. Claire has also shown wonderful maternal instincts toward another foster litter, helping care for Maeve’s kittens as well. She gets along beautifully with other cats, has excellent litter box habits, and is always excited for mealtime. As she’s settled into indoor life, she’s also started discovering the joys of playtime and letting her playful side shine. More than anything, Claire loves being loved. Whether she’s soaking up attention from her people, cuddling with her feline friends, or simply being near those she cares about, Claire thrives. She has a gentle, loving heart and is ready to bring warmth, affection, and friendship to her forever family. Could Claire be the missing piece in your home? If so please apply at pawpatroldayton.com. Adoption fee is $50 which includes up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

Story
Meet Casper, the friendly CAT! This orange boy is incredibly curious, he is no scaredy cat, that is for sure. Casper loves exploring and isn’t even afraid of the vacuum! (This is a very special quality in cats in case you didn’t know). Casper does have a few boundaries. He does not like to be held unless asked, but he won’t put up too much of a fight if/when you decide to baby him. As independent as he is, he still loves being with his people and will not hesitate to cuddle up with you. Casper does have some allergies that need to be noted; he has a bad flea allergy and is still healing from his last outbreak. Keeping him treated and healthy will alleviate any issues there. Like most orange cats, Casper has an inexplicable swagger that we can only diagnose as being a “very cool cat”. So what do you say? Is this the sweet boy for you? Casper is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoption fee: $50Follow Casper’s journey on our Facebook page. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

Story
Between his chattiness, curiosity, and love of adventure, this little fool of a Took lives up to his name. Like most hobbits, Pippin is always playing and socializing. He is incredibly chatty even while he is in the litter box…don’t ask. Pippin loves other cats and people! When it comes to food, second breakfast and elevenses are a must as he eats dry and wet food, he just loves food. Pippin also loves a good cuddle, but does not enjoy being held as much. We think it reminds him too much of being carried away by orcs. Pippin occasionally scratches furniture but this can be remedied by having plenty of scratching toys available and keeping his nails trimmed. He doesn’t love having his nails trimmed, but he will tolerate it. Pippin is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped.Adoption fee: $75Follow Pippin’s journey on our Facebook page. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.
