Story
Planned PEThood is seeking adopters who have safe outdoor housing that can provide unsocialized cats with a chance at life. These cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and ear tipped. There is no adoption fee for our working cats, but we happily accept donations to continue the program’s efforts. If you are interested submit an ’employee request form’ below or call/e-mail with questions. Our Working Cats program is designed to place cats into safe environments where they are valued for their hunting skills. The cats in this program are considered ‘unadoptable’ by local animal control agencies and have been placed in this program as an alternative to euthanasia. The cats may not be suitable for adoption because they are unsocialized and/or did not acclimate to living in close quarters with humans. A working cat is a type of domestic cat that “works” for its upkeep by hunting vermin, such as rodents. They are commonly employed where pest control is needed: in barns, farms, factories, warehouses, stores, churchyards, and private property. One benefit of using a working cat is that they alleviate the need for harmful pesticides in pest control. Through our partnership with Gwinnett County Animal Welfare & Enforcement and other animal control agencies, we have been able to save over 750 unsocialized cats by sending them to working cat environments. Contact us today at 678-541-9370 or barncats@pethoodga.org if you would like more information on this program.

Story
Cecile (CeCe) is a very shy little girl. She was brought to the shelter after suffering a trauma to her head. The trama caused perment blindness in one eye and significant loss of sight in the other. We know she was scared with the sudden loss of her vision. She will need a home where she can take the time she needs to feel safe and it could take her months to feel comfortable. Loud noises, sudden movements and chaos is not good for her :(. Cecile is a project but I think she will be so worth it ?? She is spayed, microchipped, up to date of vaccines and combo negative for FIV and FeLV If you would like more information on CeCe please contact her foster mom @ davenportal@gmail.com or 770-367-3822

Story
Douggie is an amazing and sweet young guy! His story has not been a pleasant one but through it we have learned how to help Douggie get the best home possible. Douggie is a very sweet loving cat. He is playful and will snuggle in for a nap. He needs a very slow and appropriate introduction to his new home and family without cutting steps out. He needs a miracle adopter ❤️ In his first home as a kitten, he was hunted by the two older and larger females. He couldn’t get to the litter box and sometimes his food without having to encounter them, so that made him very cautious. In his second home he was doing wonderfully until another kitten was brought into the home. Without the slow advised introduction, he feared the addition. So he peed inappropriately instead of having to cross paths with the female kitten. Once back in his foster home he has done amazingly well. He has his safe space and his own litter box. He would make an awesome office cat or a small quite home. He craves time with his human, and would need to give given plenty of attention. If you would like more info on Douggie please reach out to his foster mom Amy at 770-367-3822 ( texting is fine) or at davenportal@gmail.com He has been neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and combo tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

Story
This little guy came to my doorstep in mid-September, with some wounds and being much skinnier than he is now. I've tried my best to keep him, but my other cat has been experiencing some stress-related urinary problems with this little guy in the house, so unfortunately, he needs to go ASAP. I wish I could keep him, but I made a commitment to my first kitty a couple of years ago, so he's my first priority. He's FIV/FeLV negative, up to date on his rabies vaccine, and received an allergy and flea shot during his initial checkup. He's super friendly and playful, estimated to be about 1 year of age, give or take. Responds to "Whiskers" and "Booger", or really any name/nickname ending with -er.
