Story

Sophia is an 8 year old female, spayed cat. She was adopted from a shelter as a kitten, and has lived inside her whole life. Our home has a dog and a second cat, her litter mate. She has been occassionally pooping outside the litter box for about a year. We have tried everything from a vet visit, changing food, changing litter, and using litter attract. I believe she would do well in a home where she has a lot of attention from a human. Currently we work, and all the kids have grown, and she has a lot of time alone. Today I found she has been peeing on some bags I had on the basement carpet. We had already planned on tearing out the carpet, thinking that may help with her behavior, but after today she will not be allowed on any new flooring we will be installed. If she can not be rehomed asap, she will have to learn to live outside or go to a farm situation, as there is no shelter in our area and everywhere else is full.

Story

Sky is a lovely 1-year-old shorthair cat with interesting tabby on white markings. She has been the best mama to kittens Jameson (male tabby), Rose and Ginny (her mini dopplegangers), who all came into our care when the kittens were tiny, and now she and her babes are getting ready for their new homes. Sky is a lovely, affectionate cat who has handled everything -- from motherhood to many different people caring for her and her kittens to going on field trips to help promote the shelter -- like an absolute champion. The adoption fee to adopt a cat/kitten is $100, which helps cover some of the care received, including spay/neuter, microchipping and vaccinations to date. Submit an adoption application for Sky and/or her kittens at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FLSF/Cat. Visit the facility at 510 Organ Ave. from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays or call 913-335-0788 for an appointment. Sky and her kittens have been featured on the weekly "adoptable pets" flyers, which have been distributed around the community, and they will soon be featured as Pets of the Week in the Fort Leavenworth Lamp newspaper, unless they are adopted before then! Call 913-335-0788 or email FLSFadopt@gmail.com for more information.

Story

Ginny is an adorable shorthair kitten with interesting tabby on white markings just like her mama Sky and sister Rose. Ginny and her siblings are almost 3 months old. This litter of kittens has been a much-loved source of entertainment for our volunteers, who are often sharing videos and comments about their sweet and hilarious antics. Ginny and her litter mates even attended PAIR Day (an event with more than 2,500 people!) to help promote the shelter and find their forever homes. Right now they are all still waiting for that special someone/family to adopt them. The adoption fee to adopt a cat/kitten is $100, which helps cover some of the care received, including spay/neuter, microchipping and vaccinations to date.
