Story
We adopted her from the Lawrence Humane Society in July 2022 when she was about a year and a half old. She has been a wonderful companion—very affectionate, social, and people-oriented. She enjoys being around her humans, seeks out attention, and has a gentle, loving personality. She did very well when our son was an infant, but as he has become a toddler, the increased activity and unpredictability have been stressful for her. We also live in a smaller apartment, which limits her ability to have quiet space away from the noise. With an upcoming move, we believe she would truly thrive in a calmer environment. We’re looking for a home where she can get plenty of attention and affection, ideally in a quieter setting. She would likely do best with adults or older children who understand how to interact gently with cats. She has so much love to give and will make a very loyal, affectionate companion in the right home.

Story
I adopted Apollonia from the Lawrence Humane Society in September of 2022 as a kitten. She was adopted with another kitten, and my home had two dogs at the time as well, so she's been around cats and dogs, and is comfortable with both. More details to come soon, feel free to reach out with any questions!

Story
Kitty Baby was my grandma’s cat. He was a wonderful companion and stayed at her feet or by her side until she passed away less than two weeks ago. He is playful, loving and funny. He eats only one kind of wet food, Blue Buffalo Tastefuls. He has seen a vet with the last 9 months and we discovered he has food allergies. Thus cat food has worked for him. If he’s too stressed he might vomit. He likes a clean litter box and a quieter home. He is such a good cat. I’d keep him but my cat cannot stand the stress of another cat and she’s in poor health. Kitty Baby is especially good for an older person. We aren’t sure how old he is. Maybe 8. My grandma found him at a Sonic in Oklahoma and brought him home. He relocated to Kansas with her last summer. He loved all the daily visitors she had and would ask you to pet him. He is such a good boy. My son and his roommates are fostering him right now, but the house is too busy for him. I think he’d do well with kids because he’d get a lot of love. ❤️

Story
My daughter found Grogu in a storm drain during the fair 2 years ago. He’s very sweet and loves to snuggle. The problem we are running into is he’s trying to assert dominance over our 15 year old cat and it’s causing a lot of stress for our old man and it’s getting worse. Grogu gets along with our other 2 cats and we also have dogs and he has no problem with them either. He’s very protective of the other cats and has chased our dogs away from them. He loves to play! He will need a lot of room to run and climb. His favorite place to sleep is near a window so he can watch the outdoors. He would love to have an outdoor catnip as well.

Story
Ember was found outside my apartment complex when I lived in Nashville. He was immediately loving and comfortable with people, clearly not wanting to be outside anymore. Medical issues were immediately apparent, and after many tests it has been confirmed that Ember has liver shunts. Liver shunts means part of the blood bypasses the liver entirely. Because Ember has been this way since birth, it has been advised to not pursue surgery. He is on 4 different medications, some administered multiple times per day, and will continue with this regiment for the rest of his life. He is genuinely the smartest, kindest and most snuggly cat I know, it is heartbreaking to have to separate from him. Not a single behavioral issue the entire time I have cared for him, only love and snuggles. Unfortunately, I do not have the bandwidth to sustainably keep up this medication routine, specifically when traveling would require someone staying at my place to administer medication 4 times per day.

Story
Bird is a 4-year-old female gray tabby. She has been a wonderful companion but since having her there has been an issue of urinating on our belongings every few months. She has chosen our clothes, things that smell like us and even our bed to urinate on outside of her litter box for no reason other than it may smell like other animals or she is stressed due to outside noise. She is an extremely nervous cat and is not thriving in our living situation of shared apartment space. Too much noise from neighbors, either in their own apartments or from the hallway, causes extreme stress and can even make her feel as though she needs to hide. If we have company over, she will hide for hours on end before finally deciding there is no threat. We have ruled out every other reason, including urinary tract issues and litter types/litter box fullness. She is not up to date on shots simply because she does not wish to venture outside and she is not near our shoes that may track something in.
