Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/applicationPlease do not call the shelter; do the application first. This handsome boy transferred into our adoption program because, although he is shy, he is not mean like actual feral cats, AND his orange coloring makes him unsuitable for life back with the colony (orange and light colored cats in our area are, unfortunately, easy prey for our coyotes, eagles, and owls). He has been coming along nicely with his socialization, though will still need a calm, patient family who is willing to give him time to blossom at his own pace. His littermates have both gone on to forever homes where they are doing so well! Now it's Colby's turn. As you can see in the video, he is VERY treat motivated, and we'll send him out with some "starter Churus" to help you begin the bonding process. Here is more information on adopting a shy cat: https://anticruelty.org/pet-library/adopting-shy-cat We give shy cats an extended 60-day trial adoption period, to give you extra time to bond. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Colby is a suggested minimum of $60 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Eggnog is the last boy from our Winter Drinks litter - a late 2025 litter of kittens, born about 10/2/25 and rescued during a Trap-Neuter-Return operation on a local feral colony. Eggnog and his brothers were spared from being returned to live out their lives as part of their feral colony when they showed us their playful, ready-to-accept-humans sides! We are relieved that they have proven to be FAMILY QUALITY rather than as wild as a band of hyped-up raccoons, because their coloring is not conducive to a long life as a feral cat. Instead, these boys get to become beloved family members, YAY! They have a fair dose of caution in their makeup, so may take a little extra time to fully adapt to new people and places, but give them a fun toy and a taste of a Churu treat, and they turn into lap kittens quickly. They are easier to tell apart in the video than you think: CHAI - the most white - almost his entire body is white except for his head and tail TODDY - the most orange - nearly his entire left side of his body is orange EGGNOG - the in-between brother, white with orange splotches here and there! Eggnog is young enough that he should adapt fine to existing pets, with proper introductions. We'd love to see all kittens go to homes that have another young, playful kitten, or to send 2 of them out as a pair (which gives you a great pair discount rate), but we do not require pair adoptions. If you prefer to adopt just one, and you don't have a similarly aged kitten at home already, please read our information on Single Kitten Syndrome. Then, when you apply for a single kitten, please let us know in the "Comments" field how you plan to deal with the "kitten crazies." All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee is a suggested minimum of $60 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Meet Ivanka, an affectionate and confident female cat with a playful streak. She’s very people-oriented and shows affection through frequent head butts and nuzzling. She’ll rub against legs, furniture, and nearby cats, especially when she’s feeling social. Ivanka has clear preferences when it comes to handling. She loves head, cheek, and ear rubs, while full-body petting is less appealing to her. If you’re standing or sitting with your hand relaxed at your side, she’ll often approach on her own to ask for attention. She’s also active and curious, with strong hunting instincts. Ivanka enjoys stalking and pouncing on toys and may occasionally swat at other cats during play or boundary-setting (no claws, just communication). She would do best with cat-savvy companions who respect her space. Ivanka would thrive in a home that appreciates an affectionate but opinionated cat — one who seeks attention on her own terms and enjoys interactive play. If you’re looking for a cat with a big personality, strong bonds, and plenty of energy, Ivanka may be a great fit. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Ivanka is a suggested minimum of $50 (more gratefully accepted).
Introducing the Chips Kitties These resilient little survivors came to us in summer 2025 from a large feral colony where we conducted a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) project. While they weren't quite feral enough to be returned to outdoor life, they also needed some extra time and love to become fully socialized. Thanks to the dedication of our amazing staff and volunteers, these sweet but slightly shy kittens have made incredible progress and several have already found forever homes where they have continued to blossom. Shortly after their rescue, the Chips kittens faced a big challenge — they were diagnosed with Feline Panleukopenia (the feline version of parvo). With round-the-clock care and lots of TLC, every single one of them pulled through — a true miracle! Today, they are happy, playful, and thriving. The only lasting effect is a bit of food sensitivity, which is easily managed with an over the counter Sensitive Stomach diet. If you're looking to adopt a cat with a heartwarming rescue story and a whole lot of love to give, one of the Chips crew might just be your perfect match. Kettle Chip, while extremely handsome, is a very shy boy who will need a lot of time and a quiet home in order to fully blossom and grow comfortable with his people. Are you a cat whisperer? Kettle can't wait to hear what you have to say that will help him feel safe and loved. Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Poor Kalispell has not had an easy time of it since arriving at the shelter back in August 2025. Just a couple of weeks after she arrived as a stray, she gave birth to a litter of kittens, which meant she (and they) had to wait until the kittens were weaned before any of them could be listed for adoption. During this time, Kalispell was an excellent mother - perhaps a bit too good, as she did her best to shun attentions from the shelter staff and volunteers, preferring to keep them away from her babies (and of course, we HAD to socialize and handle the little ones, leading to much frustration for Kalispell). Just when Kalispell's kittens were adopted and we thought she, too, would be ready to head home - she contracted a calicivirus infection requiring a fairly lengthy quarantine period, with little human contact daily (to help prevent the spread of infection). She has now fully cleared her calici infection, but during the past couple of months, has grown depressed, antisocial, and slightly obese. She is now allowed to interact with other cats in a healthy-cat communal Meow Manor room, and gets many more human visits for snuggles and attention, but thus far has not perked up or shown much interest in interactions with any species. Kalispell needs a calm and loving home with an understanding family who will help her gradually lose weight, while learning all about the love of humans and fun to be had as a family pet. With your help, she can recover her broken spirit and find joy in life again! She's still a young cat, with an estimated birth date of 8/1/24, and we all want to see her blossom and live a long and happy life in an adoptive home. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Kalispell is a suggested minimum of $50 (more gratefully accepted).
Much like his historical namesake Ivan, Kevin the Terrible rules with confidence, contradiction, and a very strong opinion about personal space. With his unique ear (the result of a major hematoma) and expressive meows, he’s got a look and personality that are all his own. Kevin believes he is a human who has been temporarily inconvenienced by having four legs. He enjoys supervising your activities, judging your life choices, and demanding affection - but only on his schedule. When pleased, he is wonderfully affectionate. When displeased… well, let’s just say he is not afraid to express himself with a warning nibble or slash. (Ivan had tantrums too.) Personality Highlights: Affectionate… sometimes. Bitey… sometimes. (Balance is important.) Absolutely convinced he belongs at the table, not under it. Tolerates other cats like a ruler tolerates distant nobles: politely, suspiciously, and from across the room. Loyal to his people, dramatic about everything. Kevin would likely benefit from an indoor-outdoor lifestyle or a nice big catio, and several rousing wand-toy sessions per day to help him work out his energies. We feel he is a bit frustrated by his shelter captivity, which increases his sporadic cranky moments. We don't recommend Kevin for children, and the other cats in his cat room tend to give him the side-eye, wondering if he's in his calm mood or his cranky mood, so he may do best as an only kitty for a smart cat whisperer. Kevin is not for the faint of heart, but for the right adopter, he is a legend. He wants a home that understands that love can come with boundaries, attitude, and the occasional coup attempt. If you’ve ever thought, “I’d like a cat with the personality of a small, grumpy medieval ruler,” Kevin the Terrible may be your perfect match. Adopt Kevin. Survive Kevin. Love Kevin. (If you dare) His video shows the whole range of his moods. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Kevin the Terrible is a suggested minimum of $50 (more gratefully accepted).
