Story
Please contact Chelsea Powell (chelseap@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.is happy young puppers! is not stuffy drink! COSMO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Cosmo and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (Feb. 24th) from 12-2 pm at Petco in Fairfax (10708 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22030)!    Name:  Cosmo          Best Guess for Breed:  Catahoula leopard dog mix   Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of December 2023       SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  48 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   See this happy boy here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRzCPBDQN14https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xytoBlL1WC4   Cosmo is Looking For:  His forever family! This handsome speckled boy says he hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet. He's eager to experience new places, people, and pups! Long sniffy walks, romps in the park, all the adventures his new humans can dream up - yes, please! He has also added 'variety of toys, quality kibble, and cushy dog bed' to his wish list. (No cranberry juice and vodka though, please.) Going to dog school would be great too, so he can show off his smarts. But what he wants most of all is to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises loyal companionship, adoring gazes, and tail wags.  What do you say? Is Cosmo the one you have been looking for?   What My Foster Says About Me: Cosmo has been thriving since he set paws in the DMV! He has been described as active, engaged, a social butterfly, friendly, enthusiastic, sweet, and loves other dogs. 'He is extremely smart. Cosmo is not the type of dog who wants to relax on the couch all afternoon or take a long nap after thirty minutes of play. He’d rather explore and learn, and has a constant flow of focus and energy. He has not shown an ounce of aggression and is good with both big and little dogs. He loves to wrestle and hug other dogs, and shows off his energy and speed at the dog park! He loves to cuddle and wrestle with humans, and is very soft and gentle with his mouth when playing. Cosmo whines for about a minute when in his crate, but then behaves well. ' Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Rye is searching for her forever home as the only animal so that she can soak up all the attention from her humans! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Rye is the most lovely creature and will love you unconditionally. She has a very cute curly tail and when she wags it, your heart will explode. She's a very go with the glow dog, and just happy to be around her people. She likes to go on walks and is well mannered on leash, even with lots of distractors like people, loud sounds, other dogs, and other random city things like scooters and suitcases. Rye is super smart and knows a million tricks, she's very food and praise motivated, always wanting to check in with you and make you smile. She rarely barks in the house, is crate trained, potty trained, and does well being left alone for a typical work day. Rye is very low maintenance and one of the easiest fosters I've never had the pleasure to care for. Rye has spent 2.5 of her 3 years of life in a rescue or foster, after being adopted as a baby (fit in our founder's palm she was so tiny!!) she was returned at 7 months due to a lifestyle change during COVID. Eventually, Rye was saved by our founder when she was going to be euthanized for space in another organization, and has been with her in foster ever since. While Rye loves her foster home and her foster mom, she's excited for a forever home full of treats, love, training, and cuddles. ATTRIBUTES: Rye can not go to a home with cats or kids. ------------ Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. We strive to provide accurate information on all of our animals however, we are unable to guarantee an animal's breed, size, health, behavior, temperament, or any other conditions. TO ADOPT OR FOSTER: Please apply on our website at www.lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org or email info@lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org if you have questions! TO DONATE: Please consider making a donation on our website at www.lailaslegacyanimalrescue.org so that Laila's Legacy can continue to provide lifesaving medical treatment and training.

Story
Addie of the A puppies is an easy-going, social pup who made the long journey from Texas to find her forever home. Addie is 9 weeks old, and the the smallest of her Catahoula mix litter mates at 9 pounds. She is good with people, cats and other dogs. Addie is working hard on learning the rules in her foster home and is coming along really well with crate, house and leash training. She is a happy, loving puppy who would make a great family pal. The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs....all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! Puppies require an adopter who is home a good part of the day to continue their training - no exceptions! They are up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives and will need to be spayed/neutered at the age of 6 months. Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old Petconnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. For more information, please email cmacdonald@petconnectrescue.org **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

This beautiful boy with striking markings came from a high kill shelter in Georgia. He is now staying with a nice foster family while searching for his forever home. Could that be with you? Leo is your typical friendly, playful, and loving puppy. His energetic and smart nature would make him a perfect addition to any active home. He is very social and loves being around other dogs. At his young age, he is in his prime for training and socialization. Please remember that young babies require a lot of time, love, and patience to become the best doggie citizens they can be. With his fun personality and boundless energy, Leo promises to bring joy and fun to his forever home. Submit an application today!    Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Story
MEET SYLVESTER (call-sign Jester)!   This stunning ~3 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix is 55 lbs of love. He is a loving and lovable guy who will bond to his person(s) quickly then follow you around with his big brown and part-blue puppy dog eyes. Sylvester has an amazing 'sit,' and he’s almost nailed 'down,' and is close on 'drop it' (which is good because he loves to pick up things he shouldn’t, see more below) and is very treat motivated and trainable.    Sylvester loves other dogs and does especially well with dogs his energy level and higher. He takes cues well and will leave a dog alone who doesn't want to play. Sylvester has lived successfully with dogs of all sexes and sizes, cats and finds sheep, goats, and horses to be fascinating. He does well in the car, is perfectly house broken, and is crate trained, although he would much prefer to sleep with you. He takes his job of man-of-the-house seriously and will let you know when a package is being delivered or the garbage is being carted off. He is also willing to fend off any and all bumps in the night, but settles quickly after the danger has passed. Sylvester loves to chew his chew toys, and hasn't taken his habit to shoes or furniture so have lots of toys available to him!   He is still a young dog with lots of get-up-and-go, so an active home or one with a fenced yard and non-destructible balls would be ideal for his activity level. He would also enjoy being your running partner (if that's your thing), and he has the most adorable gait. He is working on not jumping on people when he meets them, but his love for life gets the better of him at times. He hasn't met anyone on his travels he doesn't like. Sylvester turns into a playful puppy when he's happy. He sometimes likes to pick up objects he finds (like little plastic toys, water bottle caps, and small childrens’ toys so a typical “puppy proofing” of his new home is best for Sylvester). And giving him his own toys so he doesn’t bother other peoples’ toys!   Sylvester’s got the skills to be a fabulous member of a loving home. He is waiting for his forever home and we're hoping that he gets his happily ever after soon. Sylvester's adoption donation fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip.  You can apply for Sylvester by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.February 23, 2024, 5:12 pm
