This sweet handsome boy came to Mutt Love from a NC shelter where they euthanize dogs who are in the shelter longer than days.  Ranger deserved a chance at a happy life and a loving home so we made him part of the Mutt Love family.  Ranger is estimated at about 2-3 years old currently weighs about 55 pounds, although he does need to put on a few pounds.  Ranger is heartworm positive and is beginning treatment soon at our vet. He would benefit from being in a foster home during treatment to help make things easier on him.  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Alvin is fabulous! More than just a beautiful dog, he is housetrained, crate trained, rides well in the car, GREAT with other dogs, and good with the young kids in his foster home. We are not sure what his situation was before, but it does take him a few days to get comfortable in a new home. He will gently sit in a corner and observe quietly. He can be completely trusted and non-destructive. Another dog would help his confidence tremendously. He desperately wants to be loved and everyday he works up a little more courage. Alvin is a smart, energetic, cuddly hound – he’s also super handsome! He’s a very quick learner and is doing great with house manners. He goes to the door when he needs to go outside, sits nicely for treats, sleeps calmly in his crate overnight, and shares toys and plays nicely with his foster sisters. He loves to cuddle with people and other dogs. Overall, he is very quiet and saves his awesome hound bay for special occasions.

Story
Willow is a sweet, gentle dog that needs the right environment to thrive. We adopted her from a shelter two weeks ago, and she is having a rough time adjusting to apartment life and the noise of the neighborhood. The shelter was not able to provide any history for her other than she transferred from a shelter in southwest VA. She has is great with our two children (13 and 6) and gets along very well with our two cats. She is very inquisitive and friendly with other dogs, but tends to avoid "playing". Willow is housebroken and walks well on a leash, but is very wary of other people and the noise from cars. She would do best with someone who lives in a quiet neighborhood or has a back yard where she can find some space to be herself. She is microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations.
