Story
Maryann has not had it easy. She was adopted as a puppy, but when her dad got a new girlfriend, he decided that he couldn't be bothered with his dogs and so after a year, Maryann ended up back at the rescue. Now, she is hopeful that someone will see her sweet nature and beautiful colors and make her their newest family member. She is up to date on shots, spayed, microchipped, house trained and ready to be adopted. All she needs now is a good loving home full of happiness, playfulness and lots of love. She is in TN but one of our donors has sponsored her so the cost of transport to your area is included in her fee. We use the most animal friendly transport on the road, Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Simone an adorable, 1.5-year old white and merle catahoula hound/bully mix with the gorgeous blue eyes; she is shy but so so sweet....she arrived at the shelter with a head tilt of unknown origin and partially deaf. It doesn't stop her once she has warmed up from running/playing and exploring. She will do best in a home with another dog. While she’s spunky and brave when playing with other dogs, she also has a calm, thoughtful side that makes her easy to fall in love with. 💕 An adopter with experience with a shy dog and patience with communicating with a deaf dog but it will be so rewarding to allow this sweet smart girl to thrive. She's waiting for someone like YOU to adopt her and show her the world! This terrific pup came from an overcapacity rural shelter in North Carolina that was making tough decisions, especially for a special needs dog. It took a village to make sure that Simone and some long-timers (such as Bingo) were safe. We were able to bring Simone to the DC area so she will have the second chance that she deserves. She is crate trained. Whether she’s curled up in your lap or off on a mini mission of discovery, Simone is the perfect mix of sweet, tender and submissive. Simone is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. Story
https://foha.org/pet/kobe2025/ ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi, I’m Kobe — a pretty chill and sweet guy who’s still getting used to life here. I’m a bit reserved and sometimes cautious around new people, but once you earn my trust, I’m friendly and affectionate. I love my walks and enjoy playing with tennis balls and squeaky toys. A calm, single-dog home with an experienced owner who understands me and can continue working on my training will help me thrive. I’m ready to relax and be your loyal companion. HOW AM I WITH DOGS: Best suited for a single-dog home. HOW AM I WITH CATS: Not compatible with cats. HOW AM I WITH KIDS: Good with kids. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: I respond well to “leave it,” “drop it,” and other basic commands, but I need continued consistent training to manage my resource guarding. MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: House-trained. Comfortable in a calm, structured environment. THINGS I LIKE: Walks with loose leash, tennis balls, squeaky toys, treats, calm companionship. THINGS I DISLIKE: Resource guarding triggers, sudden approaches without patience, high-value items left unattended. FOHA ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCESS – https://foha.org/pet-adoption/adoption-policies/ ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: Spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, distemper & Bordetella), 1-month access to Petcademy for training and behavior support, slip lead leash, 1 bag starter food, 1 month flea/tick & heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and additional medical procedures as recommended by our vet.

Story
Current Location: Midlothian, VA MEET Jonesy! A SWEET LOW ENERGY BOY! I'm a sweet chill boy that lives for love, affection and belly rubs. I am not pushy! I'm not the one jumping up demanding your attention. I'm waiting quietly to put my head in your lap and thank you with gentle kisses. I'm a gentle, sensitive soul. ✨ Housetrained ✨ Crate-trained ✨ Good with dogs ✨ Good with cats ✨ Sweet, soft, and submissive I'm a little shy at first with new people and new environments. Once I feel safe, my sweet personality shines through. Because of my sensitive nature, I would do best with a confident dog friend to help show me the ropes in new situations. I love fluffy and squeaky toys and enjoy a good game of tug a war with my dog sister. I love to hangout in the backyard. I'm not afraid to go out to potty in the rain, snow or when the neighbor is running the obnoxious leaf blower (like my foster sister). I prefer a quiet neighborhood in suburbia or rural setting with a fenced yard to do an occasional zoomie or chase the ball. I came north from a shelter in Alabama to find my forever family! Is that with you? If so please click “apply for adoption” or submit an application through the Adopt tab because this cuteness won't be around for long!

Story
Current Location: Front Royal, VA Meet Fuego Fuego is a one year old, 55 pound Catahoula Leopard Dog with a black and tan coat, an awesome smile, and a warm and happy energy once he is comfortable and knows he can be himself with people. Although initially shy, he is now loving, playful, and genuinely joyful in a way that makes every day with him feel like a good one. He has settled into foster life beautifully. His favorite things include snuggling with his people, napping by the door in a patch of sunshine, exploring the backyard at his own curious pace, playing with other dogs, and working his way through every toy he can find. He is the kind of dog who is happy whether the day is an adventure or a quiet one, as long as his people are nearby. Fuego is not a crate fan and made that opinion known on night one in the most decisive way possible. He has since found his perfect sleeping arrangement at the foot of the bed in his own dog bed, where he spends the entire night quietly and contentedly. Some dogs simply know what works for them and Fuego is one of them. He loves going for walks and is doing wonderfully getting comfortable with the sights and sounds of the neighborhood, kids on scooters and bikes, baby strollers, and all the general business of the world outside. He has firmly established that squirrel chasing is not on the agenda, a house rule he and his foster mom have come to a mutual understanding about. He is great in the car, equally happy stretched out across the backseat or sitting up to watch the world go by out the window like the curious and content boy he is. Although Fuego looks forward to adventures with his foster family, he is cautious and timid meeting new people. He is looking for a forever home that understands he is still learning to trust and just needs a little patience until he is comfortable. He has had no accidents in the house and appears to be house trained, which is just one more thing to love about him
