Story
NAME: CLINT BARTON. Please note he is DEAF. AGE/GENDER: 1.5yrs, Male BREED: CATAHOULA LEOPARD DOG TEMPERAMENT: Curious, affectionate, shy ESTIMATED ADULT WEIGHT: Medium to Large HOUSE TRAINING: Clint is house trained! CRATE TRAINING: Great! OTHER DOGS: Good! CATS: Good! CHILDREN: Age appropriate based on his deafness. ADOPTION DONATION: $600.00 HEALTH: CLINT is healthy although he is also deaf. He is altered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: CLINT BARTON is still young, so he's playful and has a lot of energy- but he's also a very sweet and snuggly guy, who likes to chill with you. Deaf dogs require some differences in their training, but in all, it's not that hard to have a deaf dog. He is learning basic obedience and can walk well on a leash- and he can learn so much more, especially hand commands. We've also been using a vibration collar to get his attention from far away, so he can run and play, but still come to you when needed. Clint is a bit shy with new people, sometimes so much so, his lanky legs shake until he gets to know you. Walks and treats are a the best way to make friends quickly. He just wants to know what you expect of him, so clear cues and communication are critical to making him feel comfortable and to increase his confidence. In all, Clint is a wonderful, young dog who has so much to give. He just needs someone to give him a chance! Clint is available for foster-to-adopt as well, so you can see how well he can fit into your world before you commit to adopt. This is a great way to overcome the initial fears and concerns about working with a deaf dog. As we do for all of our dogs, we are available for support and ongoing training to help get you start and stay on the right path to happiness! Story
Age: 2 yearsWeight: 55 poundsLocation: FosterMeet Domino! She was found stray heavily pregnant and had 9 puppies February 12 in a loving foster home. When not on Mama duty, she enjoys running in the yard, playing fetch, carrying around toys in her mouth and being loved on by her foster family! She is a great family dog. She is 100% potty trained, is gentle and bonds quickly. She likes to stick close to home and enjoys a comfy couch, especially when she gets to snuggle with a family member! She needs work on jumping but is good on a leash or harness. She seems good with other dogs but has only been observed with the resident senior Chi. She has chased cats but is possibly just imitating what the other dog does . Due to her size and energy, she would be best in a home with older children. Domino is around 2 years old and weighs 55 pounds. She looks like a Catahoula Leopard dog, possibly mixed with Great Dane.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.April 11, 2024, 9:33 pm

Story
Comet is an incredibly sweet dog and great with other dogs. He loves to play and frequently goes to doggie daycare. He is high energy. My wife and I have a 6-month old baby, and in preparation for that, we did a lot of training. He knows sit, down, stay, and place. He will push limits so he needs someone who can be very consistent with him. He is great with our 6-month old. He is crate trained and house trained. He goes on weekly 2-3 mile jogs with us. We are not able to give Comet what he needs in terms of exercise and mental stimulation. He is very high-energy and smart. Based on Comet, here are some ideas for an ideal home for him: 1. Frequent jogging or bike riding or hiking 2. Dog park often 3. Dog sports 4. Experience with working breeds 5. Lots of mental stimulation 6. Someone who is home during the day We love Comet a ton and will have lots of questions to make sure that we are sending him to a better situation than we can provide for him.

Story
Comet is wonderful, but our family isn't able to give him the attention or exercise that he needs and deserves since we unexpectedly had twins in 2022. Comet is 4.5Y, 70lbs, healthy, goofy, smart, and loves people. He's crate, house, and leash trained. Comet went to a 3-week board and train program two years ago and knows all the fundamentals. He responds really well to verbal affirmation, e-collars (to minimize fence guarding in our backyard) and a prong collar for walking. He's not food possessive and tolerates our kids (18M twins and 3.5Y), giving a small warning growl or bark if they pull fur or corner/lay on him before removing himself from the situation. He lives with our senior dog and they play regularly and have never had significant issues. He's never lived with cats. Comet deserves daily exercise - one 30-60 minute walk or a short run (30 minutes) is great. He loves hiking. He doesn't like swimming and can be a bit fearful of new things.
