Story
Corey is a 4-year-old, 16-pound Miniature Poodle who is sweet, cuddly, playful, and happiest when he’s with his person. He came to AARF with a bit of a confusing history, and we suspect he simply didn’t have much exposure to the world during his younger years. Because of that, Corey can be nervous and unsure when things are new. When he’s feeling a little overwhelmed, he looks to his person for reassurance - and once he knows he’s safe, that sweet little personality starts to shine.And there’s definitely a fun little guy underneath that nervous exterior! Corey loves toys, playing ball, going for walks, and getting his zoomies out in a securely fenced yard. He’s also perfectly happy entertaining himself with his toys. He’s housebroken, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, and knows words like “walk” and “treat.”Once Corey trusts you, he really just wants to be with you. He’ll follow you around the house, curl up beside you, and happily keep you company wherever you happen to be. Basically, personal space is overrated when you’re Corey. Corey does best with a calm, patient approach and a quieter home. He’s looking for adults who will let him take things at his own pace and help him discover that the world can be a pretty wonderful place. A confident, friendly, smaller dog could be a great buddy and role model for him, but he’d also be perfectly happy being your one-and-only.He has met cats and is pretty much meh about them. He does need a very secure fenced yard, or to be on leash outside, because he can be a flight risk when frightened, and a home without children will be the best fit for him.Corey may need a little time to find his confidence, but once he does, you’ll have a sweet, devoted little shadow who thinks where you go, he goes is the perfect way to live.My adoption fee is $300. AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. By the time you meet us, we’ve already been spayed/neutered (if age appropriate) and microchipped. We’ve been checked by a veterinarian, and we’re up to date on age appropriate immunizations against rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). We’ve been tested for heartworm and other tick borne diseases (4DX), and we’ve started our heartworm and flea preventive medications. Some of us have had extensive surgeries, dental work, or other necessary procedures. AARF is committed to getting all of us entirely ready for a happy, healthy, love-filled life!
