Story
13 years young | ~7 lbs | Chihuahua mix | Foster-to-Adopt eligibleMeet Loofah Egypt 13 years young | ~7 lbs | Chihuahua mix Fostered in the San Francisco Bay Area Foster-to-Adopt eligible Loofah (affectionately known as Loo Loo) is a tiny senior with a big personality and a whole lot of charm packed into her petite frame. At around 5–7 pounds, she may be small, but she’s still up for a half-mile morning walk and loves poking around the backyard to see what’s new. Loo Loo is the definition of a sweet, independent lady. She’s not much for being carried around—unless it’s on her terms, and then only for a brief cuddle. She prefers lounging in one of her many strategically placed beds, rotating nap spots like a pro. At night, she sleeps peacefully in her own bed on the floor (no human bed sharing for this girl, thank you very much), providing a delightful soundtrack of tiny snores and sleepy grunts. It’s absurdly cute. She’s mostly potty trained and will let you know when she needs to go outside—though as a senior, her “waiting window” is understandably limited. She’ll also make her opinions known with a soft little whine. (Yes, this includes requests for your dinner. No, you should not give in.) Loofah gets along well with men, women, and respectful kids (she’s done great with a 12-year-old), and she mostly ignores the other dog in her foster home. She eats kibble like a champ—even without all of her teeth—and is always happy to accept a treat… or two… or three. One firm preference: she does not like being crated. Foster-to-Adopt Details: Loofah is available for foster to adopt with someone who can bring her to the rescue’s vet in Pittsburg for her upcoming spay and dental. If you’re looking for a low-key, endearing senior who enjoys daily walks, cozy naps, and gently communicating her needs, Loofah Egypt is ready to charm her way into your heart. Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet. Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service. We thank Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services and give a special thanks to volunteer photographers Tanya, Barbara, Kristy, Christine, Teressa and Natalie.
