Story
Adoption Fee: $475 - I'm already spayed/neutered! All animals are UTD on vaccines (may need boosters) and microchipped From the foster: UPDATE May 2025 - Luna is nervous and agitated by the constant activity around her home as it's an attached unit with people in the neighboring units coming and going frequently. She is protective of her home in a typical dog fashion, but when something out of the ordinary happens outside, or when the kids in her home are playing loudly, she gets more worked-up than usual and the other dog in her home tries to intervene and there's a squabble. While there have not been any injuries, Luna seems unsettled in her home and we think a different dynamic would put her at ease. Especially being a former mama dog, we'd really like her to be happy in her home. While not hard and fast rules, we think Luna would thrive as the only dog in her home. She craves attention and not having to share it would be her dream. We also think Luna would do best without kids under 16, not because she's not good with kids but because she's happier when things are calm and the humans are predictable. Luna doesn't have to have her own yard, but she would love a daily walk/sniff to help her get some of her dog-instincts met with new smells and familiarizing herself with her environment. If you think Luna might be a good fit for you, please email us at foster@coloradopuppy.org to set-up a meet and greet. Luna will not be attending adoption events without a meet and greet set up in advance. The info below the line is Luna's original bio from when she was adopted in 2024. __________________________________________________ This sweet girl we have been calling Luna, is the absolute best dog I have ever known!! She is so cuddly and playful. She is wonderful with bigger kids (my kids are 8 and 11) - she might be anxious around small children that are less predictable. She sleeps through the night in her crate inside of a play pen so I didn't have to feel guilty locking her in her crate not knowing her history. She hasn't had any accidents inside our home - she will willingly use a puppy pad if she needs to go indoors. She is great at going potty in a yard or on a walk. At first, she didn't want to walk on a leash but after practicing for a few minutes in the backyard, where she was in full control, she ended up going on a really nice little walk around the block. You just need to be a little patient with her because she will want to stop and look at any cars, human friends, or bicyclist that might be passing by. She is super playful and will play nip as she's playing, but she's very gentle. She has never nipped at me in an aggressive manner. I've only heard her growl a few times, but if you are calm with her and let her come to you on her own terms, her unease is very short-lived. She loves to come to you and snuggle on her own terms (which will be very frequently). She is very good at dancing on her two hind legs and will jump, when she is excited to see you. Please know that this pup will be skittish to meet you, but if you give her time on her own terms, she will open up and blossom and just be the cutest thing you've ever seen! She loves to play ball and tug-of-war and chase you all over the backyard. I leave a food dish and water dish available to her all day she will gobble it down pretty darn quickly when she's ready! She hasn't seemed very interested in treats...she is hugely motivated by affection. So if she stops on a walk to watch the birds or the cars go by giving her some loving rubs and telling her she's a good girl she'll be excited to start walking again. I hope she finds the best home ever because she's truly the BEST fur-baby!! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Mindy #2 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails).   Mellow 2-year-old Mindy is making the most of her second chance at life. This sweet 16-pound brindle beauty, so easygoing and so calm, LOVES following her foster mom around, ending up on her lap whenever possible, then cuddling and snuggling with her and resting her head on her. Friendly and frisky, Mindy especially enjoys engaging with small and similar-sized dogs, and although she’s not yet discovered the joy of playing with toys, she gladly accepts any and all treats. Fond of chewing bones and going for walks, she walks wonderfully on leash, and given that she has surprisingly long legs and can get up high like a “mountain goat,” she likes jumping onto the top of the grill outside and sunning herself! Motivated by food and love, eager to learn and to please, she’s currently working on “sit” and “come,” sleeps soundly in bed with her foster mom at night and is almost fully house-trained. Now all Mindy needs is a fur-ever home, perhaps with another small dog already there, and patient adopters who will complete her training, including her commands, and keep her both active and adored.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here. Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Asking only to love and be loved is affable 2-year-old Allan. Although initially shy around new people, once the 25-pound brown beauty grew more comfortable in his foster home, the more he revealed of his true inner sweetness. His foster mom’s favorite fan and faithful shadow, Allan loves cuddling and snuggling with her as much as he loves playing with his doggy foster friends of assorted ages and sizes. Moderately energetic at the moment since he’s being treated for heartworm disease and is meant to stay calm, he especially enjoys going for walks, walking very well on leash. (Once he’s successfully completed his treatment, he’ll make someone a superb walking, running and hiking companion). As these are still early days, Allan seems disinterested in toys and knows no commands, but he LOVES any and all treats, is motivated by food and love, and is eager to please and to learn. Uncrated except for mealtime and diligently at work on his house-training, his ideal home will be one where he can remain calm while undergoing his HW treatment, with older children only. After that, the sky’s the limit as Allan's adoring adopters continue his socialization and complete his training, including his commands, in return for his own enduring loyalty and love.
