Story
See that girl, watch her preen, Annie’s our prancing queen!!!  Meet Annie a 2 year old chihuahua mix. Annie is a joyful noodle girl who loves to play. Annie seems to be learning what it is like to live in a house with human friends for the first time. She has mastered snuggling on the couch, playing with her foster brother and how squeaky toys work. She knows sit and is working on her leash skills and potty training, this girl will have it down in no time! Annie is gaining confidence day by day but new people and city noises are still a little scary.  Annie loves hanging out with her small foster brother and would do great in a home with or without another small pup. She's also cat friendly! Annie is still learning how to show affection to her human friends, so she would be best in a house with no or older children. She is such a sweet pup who is so ready to be loved. He’s around 95% housetrained — just needs to stay in a good routine — and is getting better every day at walking on a leash. Giss will make a great companion in any type of household. Story
Meet Lady, a 1.5-year-old Chihuahua mix! Lady is a cuddly lovebug who enjoys being with her human on the couch, in bed, and basically any place her human is, she will be. Lady is a very small, cautious, but precious little thing who loves to give kisses, play with her toys, and especially enjoys her outside time. She is learning how to walk on a leash while in a harness, and she quickly learned how to use the dog door with the help of her foster sisters. With full access to that dog door, she is fully potty-trained. Lady has also learned her name very quickly and fell into a routine with her foster siblings quite easily. Lady hasn't yet fully learned the concept of playing fetch, but she loves chasing balls and frolicking in the grass. Lady hasn't been around cats or small children, and her current home is fairly calm and quiet, which is her cup of tea. She gets along very well with other small dogs and would be a beautiful addition to a family. Lady is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. Apply to meet sweet Lady today! Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter Rabies Vaccination Distemper / Parvo Vaccines (includes series of 3 for puppies) Bordetella Microchip with prepaid lifetime registration Deworming ##2131322##

Story
Allow me to introduce myself: I am Waylon, a ten-pound Chihuahua with a distinctive personality. Having taken it upon myself to pen this profile, I believe there is no one better suited to capture my essence than I. As a mature Chihuahua, I have established certain preferences and routines. I am particular about my surroundings and activities. Though I am almost fully housetrained, exposure to the elements is not to my liking; I prefer the comfort of indoor environments. My inclination for using pavement rather than grass for my outdoor needs stems from my early years, where grassy terrains were not a part of my routine. My leash manners are impeccable, showcasing my disciplined nature. In keeping with the spirited nature of my breed, I possess certain assertive traits. I occasionally nip to assert my position, though it is never with the intention of causing harm. This behavior serves as a reminder of my presence and status. While I can be tolerant of being picked up by those I trust, this tolerance has its limits. Prolonged handling can elicit a strong reaction. Despite this, I often seek the comfort of being lifted again after some time, demonstrating my complex nature. I am a vigilant guardian, alert to the presence of strangers and potential threats such as mail carriers and passing neighbors. My protective instincts make me an excellent watchdog. In interactions with larger dogs, I may display a confident demeanor. However, these interactions never escalate as my small stature is evident, and my assertiveness is more performative than confrontational. Food is a significant motivator for me. I am quick and agile when it comes to securing treats, often outpacing my foster mom's distribution efforts. My enthusiasm for food is a testament to my spirited nature. Despite my independent streak, I am affectionate with my chosen person. I prefer to rest at the foot of the bed or nearby on the couch rather than demanding constant lap time. My presence is a quiet and comforting companionship. I have specific needs and preferences for my forever home: Frequent Visitors: Not suitable. Large Family: Not suitable. Small Children: Not suitable. Inexperienced Adopter: Not suitable. I seek an adopter with ample patience and an appreciation for the distinct personality of Chihuahua mixes. If you meet these criteria, I could be the steadfast companion you’ve been searching for. Adopt Waylon: If you are prepared to welcome a spirited, small dog with a big personality into your life, consider giving Waylon a forever home.   Please fill out an adoption application for the dog(s) you’re interested in. Story
I adopted Toby from a city shelter in February 2024. He was approximately 1 year old at that time and had been in shelters for 3 months and was a stray prior. He has many strengths - potty trained quickly, very quick to learn commands (sit, heal, loose leash walking, working on leave it and did I mention stay - no, haha. Keep reading and it will make sense why!). He has learned to socially greet most small dogs, however many large, and especially running dogs, trigger fear/barking. His biggest strength (which at times becomes the largest challenge) is his love for people. Children who treat him gently, adults (men and women) and elderly - all are his delight! He has a moderate level of energy (likes and needs his park walks) but loves to snuggle and shadow his people most of the day. And there is the challenge - he has severe separation anxiety. This is the factor in whether he and you will make a good match. If interested, please reply and I can address this more.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Oh, to be loved by 3 ½ year-old Oakley Ann! This sweet 16-pound tan cutie pie exudes affection from every pore and absolutely adores her foster mom, climbing up the entire length of her body to give her hugs and kisses whenever she returns home, be it after ten minutes or two hours. Supremely sociable, Oakley Ann loves cuddling and snuggling with her, being held like a baby, and in typical Chi fashion, burrowing under the covers. She also loves running and playing with her many doggy foster friends of assorted size, and going for walks, walking very well on leash. Enthusiastic and extremely energetic and built like a gazelle, she’s been nicknamed “roo” for her ability to leap onto and over anything and everything, and is learning to dial down her delight in doing so. Politely ignoring the resident cats, motivated by love and food and eager to please, she’s started to work on her basic commands, is left uncrated and is almost fully house-trained. Now all Oakley Ann needs is an especially loving and active home with a securely fenced yard to complete her training, including her commands, in exchange for her own enduring loyalty and love. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
