Story
Wanda and her brother Cosmo were saved from the valley hours before the hurricane was approaching. They were evacuated from the area because their "owners" tossed them out. They didn't want them anymore. Unfortunately with the storm coming they wouldn't have stood a chance. Wanda is a super loyal purse pup. She is only 5.6lbs and she thinks she runs the world. Wanda is super people friendly is fine with cats and tolerates dogs. She doesn't like when she's stepped on by her foster doggy siblings she will give lots of attitude. Wanda likes to sleep under blankets. Cuddle bug and supper kissy. Must have a secured yard her small size allows her to slip through fences. Home check is required if interested in adopting Wanda. ##2127229##

Story
Bella is an approx 2 y/o 10# Chiweenie who was found as a stray in a small rural TX town. No one came in to claim her and she was very frightened at the shelter. She's now in a foster home in CO and is coming out of her shell. She loves to be near her person/people, sit on your lap, and sleep under the covers in the big bed. Bella now loves to play with other dogs but can get snarky if she doesn’t get to be the boss. Bella has a difficult time sharing so we are looking to place her in a home where she is the only dog or with a laid back dog who doesn’t care about her bossiness. Bella needs a secure 6 ft fenced yard as she will be a flight risk for awhile and humans who can take her out frequently. She is potty trained and crate trained. She enjoys walks and is good on the leash but will bark at people, other dogs and unfamiliar things. She had made a lot of progress with her fear barking on walks and will need her new owner to continue with her reward based training. She'd do best with someone (she prefers women over men) home during the day and no small children. She hasn't been overly barky indoors. She was curious about cats but we're not sure how should be be living with them. If interested in meeting Bella, complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms as the first step. We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home including pets. Bella is spayed, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. Her adoption fee is $375 and we are not doing any out of state adoptions.July 26, 2024, 2:32 pm

Story
I'm Zeus. I'm a gentle and resilient soul. Despite my visual impairment, I navigate the world with grace and curiosity. My other senses are keen, and I rely on them to explore my surroundings. I even learned to use a doggie door before my friends who have good eyesite! I will be someone's loyal companion. I love cuddling up and listening to the sounds of the world outside. My blindness doesn’t hold me back; instead, I think it adds to my charm. I like basking in the sun, treats and lap time. I'd like a quiet home, a cozy spot by the window where I can feel the sun and hear the birds and a a soft bed. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. No need to call to find out about me, you can ask questions on the application or email questions to info@polkcountyhumanesociety.org. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2063692##

Story
Name: Robert Breed: Chihuahua / Pug Mix Sex: Neutered Male Age: 2 years Weight: 9 lbs Needs Experienced Adopter Good with dogs? Yes! With a proper, slow introduction, he absolutely thrives with a social, confident companion. Good with cats? Not Tested Good with kids? No, children 12+ only Energy level: Low, as long as he has another dog to bounce off of! He is a polite leash walker, keeps himself busy with chew and/or squeak toys and rawhide sticks, and sleeps very soundly. Behavioral needs: Robert needs a patient adopter who can read his vocal and physical cues, be devoted to his training and socialization, and make sure he has space when he’s around unfamiliar humans. He needs toys that are appropriate to chew. He is crate trained for overnight sleep, is working on potty training and does mark on some furniture and carpeting. Animal Characteristics: Robert is reserved, timid and will be most comfortable in a quiet, peaceful environment where he has consistent canine companionship, human supervision and access to a closed yard where he can frolic, snooze and soak up sunshine. He generally prefers canine over human interaction, but will joyfully accept petting, belly rubs and being held after he sees a trusted companion dog seek out human love, or when prompted with treats or toys. Robert is darling, spunky, clumsy and endearing. Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at www.pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process. You can also contact my friends at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org if you have questions. I look forward to meeting you!
