At this time I can’t tell you how he’ll be with a harness and leash. He’s using potty pads currently. Pepino is a gentle, shy little guy who’s still learning how to feel safe and confident outside of the shelter environment. He’s a small-breed pup with a big heart, and he’s looking for a calm, patient home where he can truly blossom at his own pace. Pepino would do best with a compassionate and understanding adopter who can give him the time and space he needs to come out of his shell. A confident owner will help him continue building trust and confidence, especially as he navigates new experiences. He should go to a home without young children since he can be nippy when he wants to be left alone. He tends to feel most comfortable around dogs his own size or smaller, though he’ll need slow, thoughtful introductions to form those bonds. He’s also making steady progress with outdoor exploration, growing braver each day. A home with a secure, fenced yard would be ideal, giving Pepino a safe place to explore and gain confidence. He’s doing well with puppy pads—washable ones are recommended, as he sometimes chews disposable pads. Above all, Pepino is searching for a loving, patient person who will support him, encourage him, and show him that the world can be a safe and happy place. General Information:Cookie is an approximately 4-year-old female Chihuahua who has been spayed, microchipped, and is current on her vaccinations. She arrived at the rescue facility at the end of August 2025 accompanied by one puppy, who has since been adopted. Origin and Arrival:Cookie was rescued from Southeast Colorado; we believe that she and her puppy were left outside without a lot of human interaction. Training and Behavior:She is kennel-trained and familiar with using a doggie door.  Although she has experienced a few accidents inside the house, with consistent supervision, it is expected that she will become reliably housetrained. Social Compatibility:Cookie generally gets along well with most dogs but exhibits some bossiness and jealousy, especially when attention is given to other dogs. Therefore, careful management of interactions with other pets is advisable. Ideal Home Environment:It is recommended that Cookie be placed in a household with older children who are knowledgeable about dog behavior and language, ensuring a harmonious and understanding environment suitable for her needs. We adopted Beans several months back, and have had the realization she may not be the right fit for our family. We have 2 other big dogs, and while they’re all very playful with each other, Beans is often left behind as she’s too small to play fairly. We believe she deserves a home where someone can be more attentive toward her - potentially in an only dog home. She’s very playful and very jealous for attention. She loves the sun and to sit as close as she possibly can to any human she can.Despite our best efforts, she has not figured out potty training. She will need someone who is willing to work with her.She is technically fine with other animals - she’s never shown aggression. But She’s extremely playful and not great at boundaries, so if she’s not an only pet she’d ideally be in a home with a cat or dog who can tolerate her being in their face.We love her so much & are heartbroken, but it’s important to us she is in an environment where she can be the happy sweet pup she is
