Story
Meet Lil Red! THRIVING IN FOSTER! LOVES OTHER PUPS! This one-year-old, 17-pound boy is a classic chihuahua through and through! Red may be a bit hesitant with new people, but once you're in, you're in for life! With a little time and patience, he'll capture your heart. All you chihuahua lovers out there who appreciate the thoughtful, loyal nature of these pups, look no further than Lil Red! Lil Red had a rough start in life and was rescued from a hoarding situation. Due to that, he'll need an understanding family who will provide him the encouragement he needs to thrive. He's currently loving life in his foster home and we can't wait to share everything we've learned about him! Lil Red enjoys spending time with the other pup in the foster home and the two of them get along very well together. Like most chihuahua's he does like to call the shots, so another tolerant pup would be ideal for him. Once he feels comfortable, he'll actively seek out affection from people and is a total lover boy! He's just so happy to be by your side! This little man is still learning how much fun toys can be, and seems to enjoy tug toys and balls. When it comes time to eat, he loves anything and everything! He's made excellent strides with getting used to his leash and is on his way to being house-trained and crate-trained. At the end of the day, he sleeps quietly through the night. It's important that Lil Red's new family give him the time he'll need to trust and acclimate to his new surroundings. He deserves the most amazing family out there-one that is patient, kind, and will make Lil Red their whole world as he deserves nothing less! Based on our evaluation, we feel Lil Red would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages 16 and up. He may have the capacity to live with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! If you think Lil Red could be the guy for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this deserving dude!

Story
This adorable Chihuahua puppy is on the hunt for a home that’s ready for all the spunk, sass, and love that comes with a small breed dog! True to chi style, this pup is confident, curious, and full of energy. Don’t let the tiny size fool you—this little one has opinions, zoomies, and a whole lot of affection to give. A home that understands small-breed needs, gentle handling, and positive training will help this puppy shine. If you’re ready for a loyal sidekick who fits perfectly in your arms (and your life), this spunky chi puppy might just be your match! We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. January 19, 2026, 4:40 pm

Story
Make sure to let us know you saw Frazier on Adopt-a-pet. Frazier is quite the gentlemen at only 3 years old- he has a taste for the finer things in life. Be it the ladies or kiddos over 5, he knows what he wants! Who wouldn't when you are as well traveled as him? Speaking of, at first, Fraizer can be a bit of a door darter, however once he becomes comfortable within a space, this tendency seems to subside. As with most little dogs he tends to like his territory (and will mark it as such. With proper training, he can learn not to!). A good Kong treat to work on and a plate full of pate are all this small boy needs to be content. Cat behavior unknown and he can be picky about who he calls a friend dog-wise. Stop on in and meet with our smallest fine sir! **Fenced yard required**
