Story
MEET CONSUELA At 8 years old, Consuela is learning how to navigate a world that suddenly feels very different. After losing the only home and person she’s ever known, she’s searching for one simple thing… someone to love and stay close to. And love she does. From the moment she arrived into her foster home, Consuela showed just how deeply she connects to her people. She came right up, allowed herself to be held, and quickly made it clear that she just wants to be near you. She’ll follow you from room to room, gently paw for attention, and happily climb into your lap for comfort and affection. Being close is where she feels safe. She’s a well-mannered girl too—great in the car, walks nicely on a leash, and will happily offer a “sit” for a treat. She’s very social, enjoys being around people, and even has a playful side (her stuffed Eeyore toy is a favorite). Consuela does best with dogs her size and slow, respectful introductions. We don’t yet know how she does with cats, but she did come from a home with another small dog. She would do best in a calm, patient home with someone who is around often and understands small breed needs.  Consuela has so much love to give. She is hoping to find someone willing to meet her where she is, hold her close, and remind her that she’s home again. Could that be you?  We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. June 25, 2026, 4:28 pm

Story
***Adoption Pending*** What a handsome boy with that gorgeous coloring! Ricky is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs 14 pounds. Meet Ricky, so cute with the most adorable ears you've ever seen! He has impeccable manners, sitting perfectly and taking treats ever so gently like the gentleman he is. He loves getting attention and will happily follow you around to soak up all the love and pets you can give. Ricky is such a sweet little guy, he is going to make such a wonderful little friend. He may prefer a quieter, more predictable type home to match his personality. Ricky would love it if you came to meet him, he can't wait to find his forever family. He will need an adult only home with him being so small. If you are interested in Ricky and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Hi there, I'm Nadine, a sweet and teeny-tiny (8lbs) little chihuahua girl who's looking for a forever home. If you're looking for a pint-sized pup who wants to spend every moment together-- I'm your girl! I'm dreaming of an adopter who will give me all of the companionship, bedtime snuggles, and attention that I deserve! I was rescued by Beagle Freedom Project from a high-kill shelter where I was dumped after being hit by a car. Once Beagle Freedom Project heard my story, they knew they had to save me! Since being taken in by BFP, I’ve undergone a major surgery to repair my broken pelvis and knees, and I’ve recovered beautifully! I’m so happy to get to run again (sometimes I even like to break into a sprint!!). Now, I’ve been learning what it's like to be loved for the first time. I'm a total doll who bonds deeply with the people close to me, and I also like to enjoy my independence, too! Sometimes, I can even be pretty cat-like; spending my time on my own terms, but then always coming back to you for love and attention when I’m in the mood! I don't particularly adore other animals (I'm tiny and non-threatening, but I just like to have my own space from dogs and cats-- probably because I think I'm a human!!), so I'll do best in a home where I can be the apple of my adopter's eye. I'm still adjusting to this new life that I've fallen into-- one where people actually love me and take care of me-- so I can get anxious at times, because I'm so scared of being left behind. Could you be the person who shows me that I'll always be safe now? I'm I'm only 2 years old, and I have a whole lot of life to look forward to-- I hope I get to spend it with an adopter who will cherish me... could that be with you? 🏡 My Home’s Requirements: I'll thrive as the only dog in my furever home! 📍 My Location: LOS ANGELES, CA Please note: Third-party sites like PetFinder or Adopt-a-Pet may sometimes list multiple locations for the same animal. My correct and current location is the one listed above! Beagle Freedom Project facilitates out-of-state adoptions, provided the adopter can travel to the animal’s current location for pickup. If you’re interested in adopting me, please fill out an adoption application at https://bfp.org/adopt/ For questions, email the Beagle Freedom Project team at: adopt@bfp.org About Beagle Freedom Project: Beagle Freedom Project is the world’s leading organization for rescuing and rehoming animals used in experimental research.
