Story
To apply to adopt, complete an application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ATHM/Dog Bailey came to us from a hoarding case. She is not comfortable with loud sounds or fast movement. She will need a patient and gentle owner who is willing to work with her on potty training and socializing. She uses potty pads at this time and is very comfortable in her crate. Bailey needs a quiet home with a securely fenced yard and no children. Bailey will do best with another small breed playful but patient dog. Her foster is not yet able to physically handle her, but she does well with following her dog buddy around and playing. Due to the overwhelming number of inquiries and messages, we do not have the ability to respond to each and every one of them. If you are interested in a puppy/dog, please apply to adopt All dogs are vaccinated age appropriately, spayed/neutered, on flea tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and microchipped. We do not require a fenced yard (excluding case specific dogs). However you must have a plan to keep your dog safe and contained which can include an electric fence. We require all dogs be kept on heartworm prevention year round for their entire lives after being adopted. We do not allow force training (prong, shock, choke, or pinch collars etc).

Story
She was adopted as a puppy from Memphis MI from a rescue. She's 10 years old She's playful, protective, and loyal like any good dog. She's likes greenies as treats. Her favorite toys are squeaky and rope toys, she likes to play tug of war and run around outside. Over time her right eye developed a hazy appearance due to her age.

Looking for Canine Connection: Playful and Lovable Dog Seeking Outgoing and Social Canine Friend Attention lonely dog friends! My name is Emmy Lou, and I am a fun-loving and affectionate dog eagerly searching for a doggy companion to enjoy my life with. As a pack dog, I have come to realize that life is too short to take on alone. So, I've decided to put myself out there and find a friend who feels the same. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a 6 month old, 12lb Chihuahua that came from a home with ridiculous amount of fur-siblings (50+). It is for this reason that I have grown to gravitate towards fellow dogs moreso than himans. I love to play with toys, romp around with my foster fur-siblings, and spend time relaxing in the sun. But there's something missing—a forever partner in crime by my side. I'm not really known for my friendly and social nature. I enjoy spending time with my humans, but from a distance and at my own pace. I genuinely believe that dogs spawn from a higher power than the two-legged beings that feed me. However together, us canines could conquer the world, one wagging tail at a time. I really don't make a fantastic solo artist, so joining forces with a furry friend is necessary to boost my confidence in the world. Imagine the countless hours we could spend chasing each other in the backyard, wrestling playfully, and taking long afternoon naps, cuddled up in a pile of soft blankets. I promise to be a loving and loyal companion, always ready for a game of catch or a zoomie session that will leave us both panting with contentment. Whether you're a fellow Chihuahua looking for encouragement with your anger management, a Labrador Retriever with an insatiable love for water, or a playful Golden Retriever who appreciates a good game of tug-of-war, I am open to all breeds and sizes. What matters most to me is finding a kindred spirit who shares my enthusiasm for life, love, and companionship. I'm a simple girl looking for some simple things in life. Let me break it down for you so there are no surprises. I want: My own fenced yard for us to make lasting memories in. No children. I'm not looking for that kind of family experience; kids make me even more nervous. Patient humans that understand that, due to my lack of socialization, I am going to bond faster with other dogs than I am with them. It may take me weeks before I trust a human enough to allow them to pet me. My foster mom basically had to force me to like her but she's grown on me - plus she feeds me which is important. Safety and security. I might bark a big bark, but it's just a front for my insecurities. A dog friend that I can call my own - I mean I'm willing to share my dog friend with the humans but I really want to be a dog's dog. So, if you're a dog who's seeking a lifelong friendship filled with joy, laughter, and endless tail-wagging happiness, look no further. Click the link to complete an application and let's embark on this extraordinary journey together. I can't wait to meet you and discover the pawsibilities that await us. Gemma was rescued from a hoarding situation where she lived with over 50 Chihuahuas in the home of an 84-year-old woman. As a result, Gemma is shy and has experienced a significant amount of change in her life. She is still getting familiar with car rides, she gets a upset tummy when riding in cars. Gemma is a sweet and loving girl. She has come a long way from her initial timid demeanor. She is looking for a mature home without the energy of young children. Additionally, Gemma will require a physical fenced yard as she currently has no leash manners. She has learned a routine for potty breaks, which is very different from her initial home where she was never allowed to go outside; she now enjoys exploring and sunbathing.  It is important to note that Gemma will need a patient family who can give her time to decompress from her past experiences. This resilient pup will thrive with understanding owners who can empathize with the struggles she has faced. Gemma is still adjusting to her new life but she is starting to enjoy playing with toys.  Gemma is motivated by small pieces of chicken used for treats. She enjoys relaxing on the couch with her foster family and sleeping in bed under the blankets real close to her people.  Gemma's journey has been tough, but she is ready to start a new chapter in her life with a family who can give her the love and support she deserves. It may take a moment for Gemma to warm up, but with patience and understanding, she will make a loyal and devoted companion. In her foster home she has become confident to follow her foster around the house. If you have a quiet and understanding home, and are willing to provide Gemma with the time she needs, she will repay you with unwavering love and devotion. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. MEET CUARTO: Hi there! My name is Cuatro, but you can call me Four for short. I'm one of the lucky dogs who was rescued from a recent hoarding case. You see, there were over 50 Chihuahuas living in a home with an elderly lady, and thankfully, we were all given a chance at a better life. Even though I'm young, I haven't had much socialization in my past. But don't worry, I'm a quick learner and I'm looking forward to finding a patient and understanding forever family who will help me come out of my shell. I do well with other dogs my size, so if you already have a furry friend, we might just become the best of pals. I would do best in a home with another small dog to help me continue to come out of my shell. I also do well with the company of dog savvy cats. I should mention that fast movements tend to scare me, so if you have young children in your home, it will make me anxious. I would do best without them in a home. I really want to find a calm and understanding environment where I can feel safe and loved. A fenced yard is a must for me because, well, I'm not leash trained just yet. But no worries, I'm currently working on that and with consistent training, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Unfortunately, given my past I do not have the potty skills I should, but I'm learning. I absolutely love playing with toys, so having a few of those around would definitely make me a happy pup! Once I feel comfy in my surroundings, I'll happily snuggle up next to you. It just takes a little time for me to trust and understand that the world isn't such a scary place after all. I'm really hoping to find that special someone who will show me that not all humans are bad. So, if you have a kind heart, lots of patience, and the determination to help me become the best version of myself, I'd be forever grateful. Can you give me the loving forever family I've been dreaming of? Let's embark on this journey together and show me that life is full of love and happiness.
