Good With Kids: No young kids Good With Other Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: Unknown Housetrained: Workin’ on it Crate Trained: Yes Walks Nicely On A Leash: Yes Knows Basic Commands: Workin’ on it Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate Special Needs: Physical Fence: Preferred Favorite Toy / Activity: Playing outdoors with dog pals. ARRIVAL STORY: Was relinquished by owner due to too many dogs in home. AGE / WEIGHT: 1.5 Yrs Old and 9lbs. PERSONALITY: Jake may be just 9 pounds, but inside that tiny frame is a heart waiting to blossom in the right hands. At about 1.5 years old, this sweet, soulful boy has already been through more than most pups ever should. Jake spent his early life in a home with too many dogs and not enough human love to go around. Despite that rough start, he’s learning every day what it feels like to be cherished — and he's ready to keep learning with you. In foster care, Jake has discovered the pure joy of playing tug with his dog pal Remi and the hilarious thrill of burying his favorite treasures in the yard. While he’s still working on a few basics like housetraining and commands, he’s already showing us his gentle, quiet spirit. You may never hear his unusual bark, but you’ll see his personality shine in the small moments: a tail wag in the yard, a happy trot beside his dog buddy, or a shy glance that slowly turns into trust. He’s a handsome mix of Chihuahua, Yorkie, Mini Schnauzer, Pomeranian, Toy Poodle, and a sprinkle of a few other breeds — a true one-of-a-kind companion! New Home: Jake is looking for a calm, patient home — ideally with a woman and another confident dog who can show him the ropes. He can be a little fearful, especially around men (he never really got to know them before), but he’s never shown any aggression. With time, understanding, and lots of love, Jake will reward you in ways only a dog who has truly learned to trust can. If you have experience with shy or unsocialized dogs, and your heart is open to watching a once-nervous little boy learn to feel safe, Jake will be your greatest joy. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Tuesday!  This little cutie-pie is a 17-pound Chihuahua mix.  Tuesday is UTD on vaccines and already spayed.  She will be microchipped before going to her adoptive home. She is a spunky little pup that  loves to play fetch, bones that are bigger than she is, and kids; although she is skittish initially when meeting new people. She likes toys, taking naps, long walks, and sleeping in your bed! She is crate trained but only when left alone at home. She does not care to be left for long periods of time so would not be a good fit for someone who works all day. It is reported she does not like dog parks because it takes her a long time to warm up to other dogs. Tuesday may do best as an only dog, or possibly with another dog her size after slow and appropriate introductions. If you are looking for a little cuddle-bug, Tuesday may just be the one for you!     Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Meet Meekah! Meekah is a 3-year-old, 7-pound Chihuahua mix with a big heart packed into a tiny little body. This super sweet and social girl came to rescue alongside her fur-sibling, Chica, after their owner sadly lost her home. Despite the change in her world, Meekah has remained a happy, loving companion who is ready to start her next chapter with a family to call her own. Meekah is a playful and affectionate little dog who absolutely enjoys attention. She does well with other dogs that like the occasional play session but are also respectful of her personal space when she decides she’s done playing. She has shown no negative feelings toward cats, making her a potential fit for a feline-friendly household. Because of her tiny 7-pound size, Meekah would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children or an adult-only household. She can often be underfoot, so she’ll need a home with someone who is steady and mindful of her petite presence. In her previous home, Meekah used potty pads, but she has since been learning a routine that includes going outside in a secure, physically fenced yard, which will be required for her new home. She absolutely loves soaking up the sunshine, though she will politely decline outdoor adventures during rainstorms or bad weather. Meekah is crate trained, food motivated, and happiest when she can be close to her people — preferably curled up in your lap. She thrives on companionship and will make a wonderful little shadow for someone looking for a loyal, loving friend. Meekah is now searching for a forever family that will cherish her for the rest of her life. If you’re looking for a tiny companion with a gentle soul and lots of love to give, Meekah just might be your perfect match. Meekah is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled for spay surgery. ADOPTION FEE: $375 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. Story
Meet Chica Chica is a 4-year-old, 4-pound Chihuahua mix with a delicate little frame and a gentle soul. This tiny girl came to rescue alongside her fur-sibling, Meekah, after their owner sadly lost her home. While the transition has been a big change for her, Chica is slowly settling in and looking for a quiet, loving home where she can feel safe and cherished. Chica is a quiet and independent little lady. She can be a bit hesitant when meeting new faces, but once she begins to feel comfortable, she will come to you for attention on her own terms. Her trust is something special to earn, and when she chooses you as her person, it’s incredibly rewarding. She has done well with other small dogs that respect her personal space, but due to her very tiny 4-pound size, she should not be placed in a home with large dogs. Chica has shown no negative feelings toward cats, so a calm feline companion could be just fine. Because of her petite size, Chica will need an adult-only home where she can feel safe and not risk being accidentally stepped on. She is a small shadow and may quietly position herself nearby, so a household that can be mindful of her tiny presence is important. In her previous home, Chica used potty pads, but she has since been introduced to a routine of going outside in a secure, physically fenced yard, which will be required in her new home. She loves relaxing in the sunshine, although she would much prefer to stay cozy inside during rain or storms. Chica is crate trained and appreciates a calm, predictable environment. She may be a little shy at first, but with patience and kindness, she blossoms into a sweet companion. Chica is searching for a patient, loving family who will give her the time she needs to feel secure and loved — a home where she can finally settle in and stay furever. Chica is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled for spay surgery.
