Story
Hi, my name is Foxy, I`m approximately 20 years old. Yep, thats right, 20. I`ve been blind for sometime now, but I manage to get around just fine. I came to Macomb County Animal Control as stray and the staff immediately found a microchip, unfortunately it was discovered that my first owner had passed away sometime ago and whoever had me, never changed the owner information nor did they come looking for me. I know taking on a blind senior dog might be a little scary, but I`m here to reassure you that I`m still pretty amazing.I will benefit in a home with no stairs, or if your able to put up a baby gate to avoid any accidents that would be great. I would prefer a low traffic home preferably with children over the age of 15. It`s unknown if I ever lived with cats, so please do slow and proper introductions. Really, all I need is a nice warm bed and someone that will love me for the rest of my days however long that might be. The shelter isn`t really the place for me.Please open your heart and your home. Senior dogs are amazing! If you are interested in meeting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, they are open M-F from 10am-4pm and Saturday`s from 10am-3pm. To help speed up the adoption process, it is suggested that you complete the online application found a the link below.https://animalcontrol.macombgov.org/AnimalControl-AdoptionApplicationFoxy is also available for Rescues that are 501C3 approved.Foxy`s adoption fee is Sponsored by Macomb County Animal Control

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Hi there! My name is LJ and I am a 5-6 year old male Chihuahua/Terrier mix who is looking for a loving forever home with a family who is patient and caring. You see, I can be a little nervous in new situations and around new people. It takes me a bit of time to learn how to trust new people and warm up in new situations. My foster mom says I am a sweet boy who wants to trust and love, but hasn't had the best of experiences in the past. I get along with other dogs in my foster house and am doing well at doing my personal business outside. I went to the doggy doctor and got all of my vaccines and am neutered too! My ideal adoptive family is one that has a quiet home, kids over 13 years of age with dog experience, a fenced yard, and a family who is patient, calm, and understanding of my initial nervousness. If you have a loving heart, are understanding of my scary past experiences, and are willing to be patient and kind to me as I learn how to trust you, I promise I'll be your bestest friend. If you would like to apply to adopt me to be come a part of your family, please visit www.nbsar.org to fill out an adoption application. Once approved to adopt, we will connect you with my foster family to learn more about me and set up a time to meet me. Even if I might not be the right fit for your family, won't you please help me find my happily ever after by sharing my profile with your family and friends who might be a good fit for me?

Story
Hi my name is Snarf! I may be a bit misunderstood, but with the right person, I can blossom into a loving companion. I am a small dog with a big personality. I am looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. Once I get more comfortable I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. When I know you, I love chest pets and head scratches, car drives, walks, and sitting in my person's lap. Once I trust you I am as loyal as can be, but I've experienced some trauma from being homeless as a puppy and a botched dental surgery that left me with severe burns, and as a result I still have moments where I exhibit fear-based behaviors, including potential biting. Patience and understanding will be crucial in helping me overcome my fears and help me build a strong bond with my new family. I will thrive in an environment with a routine, gentle encouragement, and positive reinforcement.
