Story
Meet Gremlin! Gremlin is an approximately six year old male chihuahua on the search for his forever home. Gremlin came into rescue after being abandoned- so as you can imagine he was quite frightened, thus how he earned his name- he showed his ferocious spirit trapped inside his tiny little body. This little chi thinks he's a very big dog, when in fact, he weighs 4.5 pounds. His size does not stop him from telling all resident dogs what to do (even the 50 pound one!) and doesn't keep him from telling his foster humans what to do either! He spends 95% of his day on someone's lap, mostly his foster dad's. He likes to burrow and when he allows it, he really likes belly rubs. He's a lot like a cat (even though he dislikes cats immensely!); he likes rubs one minute then he tells you he's done, and he expects you to listen! He now gets zoomies after being in foster care for a few months, and likes to play with toys. He burrows in his blankets in his crate at bedtime and enjoys snuggles on the couch. He would do well with a quiet home for someone looking for a lap dog to spoil, and not someone looking for a purse dog to take on outings. He seems to prefer men, but definitely tolerates his Foster Mom when Foster Dad isn't around. The longer he's been fostered, the better he's handling other dogs in the household, but he would likely prefer to be an only dog, and no cats (as mentioned previously). Gremlin can be a bit snippy, so we are requesting experienced Chihuahua owners only apply. The funniest part about this little cranky tank is he LOVES children and has been allowed supervised play time with older kids who have experience with little dogs only. Once he warms up to you, he's quite the love bug. He has big fears, and his future forever home must understand that and protect him from those issues in order for it to be a successful situation. Gremlin is very food motivated. Gremlin is mostly potty trained, and fully pee pad and crate trained. We do not take leash walks due to his legs, but he loves the fenced in backyard. Gremlin does have issues with his knees, so he's a tad wobbly. He cannot jump up on furniture but does expect to be picked up and put there. He can do the stairs. Gremlin is neutered, fully vetted, and up to date on his vaccinations. He is microchipped. He takes monthly heartworm prevention and is heartworm negative. Other than his knee issue, does not have any medical issues. Gremlin’s adoption donation is $300. Story
Layla is a female Chorkie weighing approximately 3 pounds in need of her forever home. She is currently 8 weeks old. Unfortunately Layla's owner had recently lost a chihuahua and after adopting Layla, realized it was too soon. Layla is a playful, loving puppy. Layla is a puppy with a lot of energy, so if you work a lot and don't have the time to dedicate to her, Layla is not the one for you. Her current owner would like her to go to a home with older children and preferably small dogs, if any. Layla is not crate trained and in fact hates being in a crate. She is just recently getting used to using puppy pads. Her current owner will provider a case of puppy pads to her adopter as well as a few outfits and some food. Layla's adoption donation is $350. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Hi, Ace! Ace is a 4 pound, 5 year old male chihuahua searching for his perfect forever home. Ace is white and red and has the cutest big furry ears. This tiny little man is a love bug if given time to warm up. He needs a home that will be patient with him, and if they do they will be rewarded with the best little snuggle bug ever. Ace loves his people, you just need to let him approach you on his own terms! When he arrived at his current foster home, his foster mom set his crate down and opened the door and allowed him to come out on his own. Within five minutes, Ace was in her arms. Intake and the vet’s office were different stories; he tried to nip and bite everyone, but those times he was not allowed time to decide to trust those people around him. If you give him the time he needs, he’s a sweet snuggle bug! Ace gets along with all of the dogs in his foster home. He will follow his person around, jump into bed with them, and just generally acts like a goober to get all of the love he can! Ace tends to bark at random sounds like a typical chihuahua. We would not recommend Ace go to a home with younger kids as every introduction with Ace needs to be done the same way. Ace HATES being left alone. If you leave him alone in a room all by himself, he howls. If you leave him with other dogs or take him with you, he’s a happy little camper. Due to major dental issues Ace had originally, Ace eats a bit awkwardly. For a while he could only eat wet food soaked with water. He is almost fully house trained, with the occasional marking incident when a new foster is introduced. Otherwise, he happily goes outside to take care of business and uses pee pads if needed. Ace has had a dental and is neutered. He is fully vetted and up to date on his vaccinations. He is heartworm negative and takes monthly heartworm prevention. Ace is also microchipped. Ace’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. Story
Meet Kloe, a sweet 6-year-old female Chihuahua mix. Kloe joined our rescue after her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. Kloe currently weighs 16 pounds, but her foster parent is working on improving her fitness as she does need to lose some weight. Kloe is a true "snuggle bug" who loves sleeping under the covers and giving morning kisses. Kloe is always thrilled to greet you at the door and gets along well with both men and women. Kloe enjoys her squeaky toys and blankets, and she would do well in a home with or without other dogs. She is a loyal companion who loves sitting with her humans and will happily follow you from room to room. Kloe is both house trained and leash trained. She is ready for her forever home and would be a great fit for someone who works or spends most of their time at home. She is a perfect little girl with a wonderful personality. Kloe is fully vetted, spayed, and up to date on all vaccinations. She will be microchipped by CRT prior to adoption. Kloe’s adoption donation is $300. Story
Meet Denzel and Cameron! Denzel and Cameron are a bonded pair that entered CRT after their owner passed away. Denzel is estimated to be around 8 years old but possibly older and around 6.5 pounds. Cameron is believed to be around 14 years old and weighs about 20 pounds. As noted above, these boys are quite bonded and it is an absolute must that they be adopted to the same home. Cameron doesn’t even like there to be a door between himself and Denzel! Denzel is the smaller fawn-colored pup and Cameron is rust-colored and heavier. Denzel and Cameron’s foster mom reports that Cameron is a very sweet boy. Denzel can be grumpy at times and as he has snapped at a neighbor, should go to an adult only home or a home with respectful children who know how to respect small older dogs. Cameron has had a large growth removed from his leg. The vet said it looked like soft tissue osteosarcoma; unfortunately, the growth accidentally got thrown away so we had no biopsy to confirm this. Cameron’s knees don’t work well and he struggles to take the step from his foster mom’s porch to the yard and back but he has done it through sheer determination thus far. Cameron has also been noted on xray to have an enlarged heart and takes a daily medication for his heart. Both boys are potty trained. They are neutered and have been vetted. They are heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. They will be microchipped prior to adoption. Denzel and Cameron’s’ adoption donation is $550.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.
