Meet Molly and Daisy! Molly and Daisy are bonded sisters in need of a new home. Molly and Daisy are both 13 year old chihuahua mixes. Daisy is black and grey and weighs 11 pounds, and Molly is black and tan and weighs 13 pounds. As a bonded pair, Molly and Daisy need to be adopted to the same home. Molly is shy at first but warms up quickly and is the perfect loving companion. Daisy is warm and loving. She immediately rolls over for belly rubs! Both girls are great companions. They both love to sleep with their human and they love to snuggle beside you any time you sit down! Their foster mom says their behavior is absolutely perfect. Both girls are able to go potty outdoors or are able to use potty pads indoors. Molly and Daisy are both in good health. They have been fully vetted and are up to date on vaccinations. They are spayed and microchipped. They take monthly heartworm prevention. Molly and Daisy’s adoption donation is $500. Story
Dave is an 8 year old, 24 pound male chi mix looking for his forever home. Dave is not the usual chi mix that CRT rescues. Our buddy Dave was rescued from a hoarding situation along with 10 Chihuahuas, and they just couldn’t leave this sweet boy behind! The best guess we have for Dave’s breed is possibly a combination of corgi and chihuahua, given his build and size. He is a work in progress and needs to lose a few pounds to get to his ideal weight. To get to his first goal of 20 pounds, he needs to lose 4 more pounds. Dave gets along well with other dogs and he is still playful and has quite a bit of energy for his age and weight. Dave is shy at first, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up to new people. He is a very loving dog and just needs a family to call his own. Dave walks well on a leash and is house trained. Dave is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and has been fully vetted. As mentioned previously, he is on a weight loss journey since entering rescue, and his new family will need to continue working on thie with him. Dave is heartworm negative and takes monthly heartworm prevention. He is also microchipped. Dave’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Are you looking for double the cuddles, double the belly rubs, double the love? Look no further than this bonded pair of ladies! Piglet and Little Bit are here to give you all that and more. Piglet and Little Bit are 5 and 6 year old female chihuahua mixes that were surrendered to a shelter when their Dad developed some health issues that required their Mom to look after him while also working full time. Due to staff changes and technical difficulties at the shelter, they were there for 3 months before our rescue found out about them and brought them into a foster family. Their foster mom says they are the sweetest girls ever when it comes to people. It may take them a little time to warm up but once they do, you're in for ALL the snuggles! Piglet and Little Bit are very affectionate and attentive- they want to be with their people as much as possible and will vocally express distress if kept apart from you. (Their foster mom suspects that with time, stability, and sufficient affection their distress will lessen significantly.) While they prefer to be in your lap when you're home, they will happily and quietly hang out wherever you are. This duo may exhibit some marking behavior when settling into a new place. However, they are happy to and prefer to go outside to potty. They will also use pee pads while their people are away. Once they get to know you, you will see the cutest zoomies ever from Little Bit when she is excited to see you and Piglet will give you the most adoring looks! Piglet and Little Bit both do the circle dance of excitement on their way to go outside or when their meals are being prepared. They LOVE kisses, even kisses on the nose once they are feeling comfortable, and will roll over for belly rubs at the slightest sign that you're willing to give them. Little Bit and Piglet like to take turns grooming one another, making sure that each has presentable eyes and ears. They cuddle up together wherever they go and are rarely seen in separate rooms. They are also good listeners and will respond appropriately to 'Come on Ladies/Girls' (to get them to follow you), 'Let's go outside', and 'No' (they will give you their attention to see what is the 'No'). Piglet's foster mom calls her a 'weighted blanket' dog as she likes to put her head on her foster mom's chest and relax her body down into her lap. At 13 and 1/2 lbs, she's the perfect weight to provide soothing pressure without being too heavy to lift comfortably. Piglet is usually the leader of this pair with Little Bit following her lead in everything except food. Little Bit is the smaller lady, at 9 and 1/2 lbs, and has a very expressive face. She unknowingly makes some of the funniest expressions you ever saw on a doggo, occasionally looking a little crazy eyed but once you get to know her personality you'll see that it's just a little uncertainty and a whole lot of silliness. Little Bit is the more timid lady of this pair but once you win Piglet's trust, she will follow her sister's lead. These ladies can be hesitant when it comes to new foods or treats but do learn to enjoy new things with a little encouragement. Little Bit is the leader when it comes to new foods. She will be the first to taste anything new and Piglet will go for it once she sees her sister enjoy something. As a bonded pair, these ladies are not food aggressive with one another. Their foster mom says she's never seen doggos take turns eating from the same bowl until now. Piglet and Little Bit are ready to meet their furever family! They are almost fully vetted, having been spayed and brought up to date on their vaccines. They are both microchipped, heartworm negative, and on heartworm and flea prevention medications. Little Bit is in need of a dental, which is already scheduled and will be taken care of by CRT in the coming weeks, but can be a foster to adopt until this last vetting is complete. As a bonded pair, Piglet and Little Bit can only be adopted together. If they sound like the perfect pair for you, fill out an adoption application to meet them. They are looking forward to finding their furever home! Piglet and Little Bit’s combined adoption donation is $600. Story
Meet Denzel and Cameron! Denzel and Cameron are a bonded pair that entered CRT after their owner passed away. Denzel is estimated to be around 8 years old but possibly older and around 6.5 pounds. Cameron is believed to be around 14 years old and weighs about 20 pounds. As noted above, these boys are quite bonded and it is an absolute must that they be adopted to the same home. Cameron doesn’t even like there to be a door between himself and Denzel! Denzel is the smaller fawn-colored pup and Cameron is rust-colored and heavier. Denzel and Cameron’s foster mom reports that Cameron is a very sweet boy. Denzel can be grumpy at times and as he has snapped at a neighbor, should go to an adult only home or a home with respectful children who know how to respect small older dogs. Cameron has had a large growth removed from his leg. The vet said it looked like soft tissue osteosarcoma; unfortunately, the growth accidentally got thrown away so we had no biopsy to confirm this. Cameron’s knees don’t work well and he struggles to take the step from his foster mom’s porch to the yard and back but he has done it through sheer determination thus far. Cameron has also been noted on xray to have an enlarged heart and takes a daily medication for his heart. Both boys are potty trained. They are neutered and have been vetted. They are heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. They will be microchipped prior to adoption. Denzel and Cameron’s’ adoption donation is $550.00. Story
Meet Ollie! Ollie came to his current family as an injured stray in 2022. He had a broken left foot, but after some time healing, he settled nicely into the home. However, due to some of Ollie’s behaviors and a newborn in the home, his owners feel he’d do best in a home without children and are wishing to rehome him at this time. Ollie is believed to be about 5 years old and weighs approximately ten pounds. Ollie is fully house-trained (though he may occasionally mark if left unattended), enjoys his crate, and is happiest cuddling with you or stretched out on a soft blanket. He loves basking in the sun, chasing squirrels, snacking on carrots, and curling up with his stuffed animals. He’s afraid of thunder and fireworks and will usually hide under the couch. Ollie is up for adoption because, like many chihuahuas, he can be reactive. If he’s asleep on your lap and gets startled, he may growl or snap, so he just needs a gentle heads-up before you move. He may also growl if he steals a sock or is enjoying a treat and you come too close. He has a strong alpha personality and can switch from affectionate to “I’m done now” quickly—almost like a cat. When he no longer wants to be petted, he’ll growl to let you know, otherwise he may nip. He loves his crate and sleeps in it every night, but occasionally at night he can be reactive if you try to close the crate door while he’s already settled in. Ollie can also be protective when strangers come to the door and will bark or growl. However, if visitors ignore him when entering, he calms down. Once he’s met someone, he remembers them and is fine going forward. Because of this, his future owner should be confident, calm, and comfortable setting boundaries—someone who won’t be afraid to tell him “no” when needed. Ollie knows several basic commands (come, sit, down, up, go to crate, etc.) and listens well once he trusts you. He would do best as the only pet in a home with no children. He currently lives in a home with a black lab and gets along with her because she is extremely calm and motherly, but in general, he should not be placed with another alpha dog. Ollie will be a wonderful companion for someone who understands chihuahua behavior and can provide a calm, structured home where he feels safe and secure. Ollie’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to click on Fez's photos to read all about him prior to applying.Fez may be a wee fellow, but don't tell him that.  He embodies all that "Chihuahua" entails- larger than life personality (with lots of opinions), and a dedicated and close companion to those in his circle.  Please don't get any ideas about dressing this fellow up and carting him around in cute handbags, he likes to use his own four legs to travel- and clothing is (at best) considered "excessive" in his opinion.  Fez gets along with dogs and cats, he would do best in a home with another small or toy breed female.  He appreciates animals (including humans) that are considerate and patient.  He does tend to gravitate to small dogs, and has an affinity specifically to small and toy breed females (once he gets to know them).  He tends to ignore cats, but would do best with a dog savvy cat.   Fez can be nervous in new circumstances and may be a flight risk in a new home, due to this and his wish to be independent at times- a secure fenced in yard (physical fencing appropriate for a toy breed) is a must.  He is well behaved in the home and is not destructive, and he is crate trained and potty trained.  Fez requires a home without children, he has come a long way with trusting humans and handling- but he has been very clear about the requirement for a child free home.  If you are an experienced dog owner with an affinity for Chi's, this fellow may be perfect for you!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 21, 2025, 1:45 pm
