Story
Meet Molly and Daisy! Molly and Daisy are bonded sisters in need of a new home. Molly and Daisy are both 13 year old chihuahua mixes. Daisy is black and grey and weighs 11 pounds, and Molly is black and tan and weighs 13 pounds. As a bonded pair, Molly and Daisy need to be adopted to the same home. Molly is shy at first but warms up quickly and is the perfect loving companion. Daisy is warm and loving. She immediately rolls over for belly rubs! Both girls are great companions. They both love to sleep with their human and they love to snuggle beside you any time you sit down! Their foster mom says their behavior is absolutely perfect. Both girls are able to go potty outdoors or are able to use potty pads indoors. Molly and Daisy are both in good health. They have been fully vetted and are up to date on vaccinations. They are spayed and microchipped. They take monthly heartworm prevention. Molly and Daisy’s adoption donation is $500. Story
Meet Gremlin! Gremlin is an approximately six year old male chihuahua on the search for his forever home. Gremlin came into rescue after being abandoned- so as you can imagine he was quite frightened, thus how he earned his name- he showed his ferocious spirit trapped inside his tiny little body. This little chi thinks he's a very big dog, when in fact, he weighs 4.5 pounds. His size does not stop him from telling all resident dogs what to do (even the 50 pound one!) and doesn't keep him from telling his foster humans what to do either! He spends 95% of his day on someone's lap, mostly his foster dad's. He likes to burrow and when he allows it, he really likes belly rubs. He's a lot like a cat (even though he dislikes cats immensely!); he likes rubs one minute then he tells you he's done, and he expects you to listen! He now gets zoomies after being in foster care for a few months, and likes to play with toys. He burrows in his blankets in his crate at bedtime and enjoys snuggles on the couch. He would do well with a quiet home for someone looking for a lap dog to spoil, and not someone looking for a purse dog to take on outings. He seems to prefer men, but definitely tolerates his Foster Mom when Foster Dad isn't around. The longer he's been fostered, the better he's handling other dogs in the household, but he would likely prefer to be an only dog, and no cats (as mentioned previously). Gremlin can be a bit snippy, so we are requesting experienced Chihuahua owners only apply. The funniest part about this little cranky tank is he LOVES children and has been allowed supervised play time with older kids who have experience with little dogs only. Once he warms up to you, he's quite the love bug. He has big fears, and his future forever home must understand that and protect him from those issues in order for it to be a successful situation. Gremlin is very food motivated. Gremlin is mostly potty trained, and fully pee pad and crate trained. We do not take leash walks due to his legs, but he loves the fenced in backyard. Gremlin does have issues with his knees, so he's a tad wobbly. He cannot jump up on furniture but does expect to be picked up and put there. He can do the stairs. Gremlin is neutered, fully vetted, and up to date on his vaccinations. He is microchipped. He takes monthly heartworm prevention and is heartworm negative. Other than his knee issue, does not have any medical issues. Gremlin’s adoption donation is $300. Story
Let’s get Baby out of the corner- err- the foster home! Baby Girl is a two and a half year old 7 pound female chihuahua ready for a family to call her own. Baby is playful and loving. She loves long walks and car rides, gets along with other dogs and even cats. She loves kids and playing ball. She loves to chew and will pull the stuffing out of regular toys. She is still a little leery of being picked up but will jump in your lap to snuggle as soon as you sit down. Baby is crate trained and has not had a single accident in her foster home! She hasn’t had a lot of experience outside and must be on a leash or in a secure fenced yard at all times or she’s off to explore the world. Baby is spayed, heartworm negative, up-to-date on all shots, and microchipped. She is in good health. She does take a monthly heartworm preventative. Baby’s adoption donation is $300. Story
Meet Denzel and Cameron! Denzel and Cameron are a bonded pair that entered CRT after their owner passed away. Denzel is estimated to be around 8 years old but possibly older and around 6.5 pounds. Cameron is believed to be around 14 years old and weighs about 20 pounds. As noted above, these boys are quite bonded and it is an absolute must that they be adopted to the same home. Cameron doesn’t even like there to be a door between himself and Denzel! Denzel is the smaller fawn-colored pup and Cameron is rust-colored and heavier. Denzel and Cameron’s foster mom reports that Cameron is a very sweet boy. Denzel can be grumpy at times and as he has snapped at a neighbor, should go to an adult only home or a home with respectful children who know how to respect small older dogs. Cameron has had a large growth removed from his leg. The vet said it looked like soft tissue osteosarcoma; unfortunately, the growth accidentally got thrown away so we had no biopsy to confirm this. Cameron’s knees don’t work well and he struggles to take the step from his foster mom’s porch to the yard and back but he has done it through sheer determination thus far. Cameron has also been noted on xray to have an enlarged heart and takes a daily medication for his heart. Both boys are potty trained. They are neutered and have been vetted. They are heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. They will be microchipped prior to adoption. Denzel and Cameron’s’ adoption donation is $550.00. Story
Meet Ollie! Ollie came to his current family as an injured stray in 2022. He had a broken left foot, but after some time healing, he settled nicely into the home. However, due to some of Ollie’s behaviors and a newborn in the home, his owners feel he’d do best in a home without children and are wishing to rehome him at this time. Ollie is believed to be about 5 years old and weighs approximately ten pounds. Ollie is fully house-trained (though he may occasionally mark if left unattended), enjoys his crate, and is happiest cuddling with you or stretched out on a soft blanket. He loves basking in the sun, chasing squirrels, snacking on carrots, and curling up with his stuffed animals. He’s afraid of thunder and fireworks and will usually hide under the couch. Ollie is up for adoption because, like many chihuahuas, he can be reactive. If he’s asleep on your lap and gets startled, he may growl or snap, so he just needs a gentle heads-up before you move. He may also growl if he steals a sock or is enjoying a treat and you come too close. He has a strong alpha personality and can switch from affectionate to “I’m done now” quickly—almost like a cat. When he no longer wants to be petted, he’ll growl to let you know, otherwise he may nip. He loves his crate and sleeps in it every night, but occasionally at night he can be reactive if you try to close the crate door while he’s already settled in. Ollie can also be protective when strangers come to the door and will bark or growl. However, if visitors ignore him when entering, he calms down. Once he’s met someone, he remembers them and is fine going forward. Because of this, his future owner should be confident, calm, and comfortable setting boundaries—someone who won’t be afraid to tell him “no” when needed. Ollie knows several basic commands (come, sit, down, up, go to crate, etc.) and listens well once he trusts you. He would do best as the only pet in a home with no children. He currently lives in a home with a black lab and gets along with her because she is extremely calm and motherly, but in general, he should not be placed with another alpha dog. Ollie will be a wonderful companion for someone who understands chihuahua behavior and can provide a calm, structured home where he feels safe and secure. Ollie’s adoption donation is $300. Story
Tito may only weigh 5.5 pounds, but he carries himself like he owns the place. At around 7 years old, he’s a chihuahua with all the classic traits: bold, expressive, energetic, and absolutely certain he deserves attention. Found as a stray with rotted teeth and skin issues from parasites, Tito bounced back with impressive attitude. He’s had a full dental cleaning with 18 extractions and is feeling dramatically better. His skin and sleek brown and white coat are now healed, and his ears are nearly there, too. Otherwise, Tito is healthy and active! Tito is what we’ll lovingly call a "firestarter". At home, he always wants attention, but also on his terms. He loves other pets and tries to initiate play constantly… unless it’s nap time, in which case he expects peace and quiet. Adding to Tito's mystique, he comes off as mellow and reserved outside of the home, whether it be for a vet appointment or socialization. He’s a tiny dog with big character: energetic, social, enigmatic, opinionated and happiest in a home that appreciates the unique allure, and occasional chaos, of chihuahuas. Tito's ideal home has other playful pets and no little kids. If you’re a chi lover who appreciates a dog that knows what he wants, and understands the balance of boundaries and spoiling, Tito will fit right in. Tito doesn’t just want a home — he wants an audience. And honestly? He deserves one.
