Story
Frankie is a lovebug! He is a happy little guy who is full of personality, just like your typical chihuahua. He loves to be around his chosen person and other dogs and is fine with cats too! He likes to explore and is good on a leash. He would love to take walks and then come home and nap in your lap. He would love to cuddle up in the nook of your elbow most of all! He rarely barks and is potty trained. When in a new environment he does show some resource guarding until he is more comfortable, so he would do best in a home with adults or children over 16. We promise you wont be able to resist his big brown eyes and that one floppy ear!

Story
ROXIE - COURTESY POSTING Roxie is a middle aged (7-9 year old) chihuahua mix that weighs in at 13 lbs. Roxie was among the 50 that were rescued alive from a hoarding situation in GA, of about 150 dogs. She is spayed now, but has been over bred in the past.  Roxie faces a few challenges; she has exhibited some neurological damage, and her back end doesn’t work as well as it should. Her stride wobbles in the rear and she has a tendency to slide her back feet on the floor. She has occasional accidents that she doesn’t know is happening. She has less feeling back there and tends to bite her feet.  She doesn’t appear to like other dogs, and would enjoy being an only dog. We have not observed her with other pets so we can’t speak to her inter-specie behavior.  Roxie is a very sweet and very loving girl, she is a true lap dog. Her favorite toys are squeaky toys that she will squeak until they stop. Roxie doesn’t bark a lot, but she does have an adorable snore. She is crate trained. Roxie would perfectly fit in a home with lots of patience, love and attention. She is truly a delightful girl.  She is spayed, UTD on shots, HW neg and on HW prevention. Her adoption donation is $250.00. Story
Bella was born 4/9/17 so that makes her 6.5 years old. She weighs around 12 lbs. She loves to play tug of war and also likes to fetch. She is very active. She is also a total love bug. When you sit on the couch, she jumps right up and snuggles up right next to you. She will constantly nudge your hand wanting to be petted. She sleeps in the bed with you and crawls up under the covers to snuggle up next to you. She is also a chow hound. She is always begging for something to eat. She is taken out regularly when her foster mom is home. Once when her foster mom didn’t take her out soon enough, she started circling and her foster mom knew she was looking for a place to go. During the day while her foster mom is at work, Bella is left blocked off in her foster mom’s den. Pee pads are left down and she will go on them. She has not torn anything up and her foster mom is gone around 9 hours per day. Her previous foster crated her during the day and said she tore everything up and made a total mess. Her foster mom did lock her in a crate for about 3 hours one day, while she was gone, and she was fine. Bella is dog aggressive and will need to be an ONLY DOG. Even on leash when walking Bella reacts negatively to other dogs. Bella also has a high prey drive so would do best in a home without smaller animals.  Fence is required due to her dog aggression to ensure her safety.  Bella’s adoption fee is $300.00 If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. Story
Introducing Franklin! Franklin is one laid back guy who just wants to be loved. This little old man is approximately 11 years old and 8 lbs. Franklin was part of a 15+ dog hoarding case in Tennessee, discovered when their owner was hospitalized. While his owner was hospitalized, Animal control realized that all of the pups involved desperately needed help, and their owner was unable to care for them properly due to mental challenges. Franklin hasn’t had the easiest of lives, but he’s a complete love bug with his person. He doesn’t mind being in a home with other animals, but would thrive in a home where he is the only dog. When he isn’t snuggling underneath a blanket, Franklin can be found searching for his food dish or exploring the great outdoors. He absolutely loves to eat and loves to be outside.  It will take him some time to figure out his way around due to being both blind and partially deaf, but once he does, he won’t miss a beat. He must have one great sniffer!  Franklin will need to wear a wrap or belly band when he’s inside, as he doesn’t quite know where he’s supposed to potty, but that is a minor ask of his people, considering the amount of love they’ll receive in return.  Franklin is an absolute sweetheart, who shouldn’t be overlooked just because of his limitations and who deserves a place to rest his head and dream of his next great adventure. ❤️ He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, HW Negative and on HW preventative.  His adoption donation is $250.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Meet Rocky! Rocky is a 4 year old, 8 pound long-haired male chihuahua who was surrendered to CRT by his previous family as Rocky was struggling to adjust to a young child being in the home. Rocky is the typical chihuahua and when he finds his person, he follows him/her everywhere, loves to give kisses, and is just the happiest he can be. Once he loves you, you will be the center of his world. Be prepared to be absolutely adored! Rocky is great with small dogs. He is pee pad trained and leash trained. He does not do great with children so he is required to go to a home without small children. Rocky does still mark sometimes, but his foster mother notes that that has diminished the longer he’s been in her home. Rocky does need some time to adjust to a new home. When he first got to his current foster home, he growled any time his foster mother tried to brush him, put him in a crate, or generally do anything that Rocky didn’t want to do. After being in his foster home for a few days, though, he decided he liked his foster mother and now she can’t do anything at home without him! He can and will be snippy for the first few days, but if you give him time and do not crowd him, he will come around in due time! Medically, Rocky has a history of seizures and takes daily antiseizure medication to prevent them. The seizures do not last long and do not happen often but do need to be monitored. Rocky is neutered, UTD on shots, heartworm negative, and on HW preventative. His adoption donation is $300.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Introducing Panda! Panda is a 9 pound, 2 year old male chihuahua mix finally ready for his forever home! Panda joined CRT when he was a 1 year old puppy after being rescued from a hoarding case in Minnesota. As a puppy, he had never experienced human touch. His foster mother has worked with him so much over the past year and is proud to say Panda now allows his humans to touch him. With new people, he will have some fear initially but he is playful and adores attention once he gets past that fear! He is a very sweet boy with a gentle disposition. Panda gets along very well with other small dogs. He adores his current foster siblings and is always either playing or cuddling with someone! Panda would love to go to a home with another canine companion to show him the ways of the house. Panda is very submissive and looks to his human for security. Once Panda trusts you, he ADORES you and you can see it in his eyes. It just takes time to build that trust, so he needs to go to a home who can be patient with him and understands that it may take months to build trust and to continue to help Panda build up his doggy skills. It would be best for Panda to go to a home without children. Panda is pee pad trained. At this time, he still marks occasionally but this behavior has decreased drastically since being with his foster mother. His foster mother has been working on leash training with Panda, but the leash training has been indoors only at this point as his foster mother doesn’t feel he’s yet ready to go out on the sidewalks yet. He very quickly picked up that a small tug on the leash means to stop, and he does allow his foster mother to pick him up without issue when he is on a leash. Panda knows his name and will sit when his foster mom says his name! One important thing to note about Panda is that he is a flight risk. He will need to go to a home with a fenced in yard, with either a jump fence or a 6’ fence line. He is a jumper and can easily jump 3’ gates in the house without issue. Panda has never attempted to jump over the fence at his foster mother’s home, but if he’s in a new space and fearful he might try. Due to his flight risk designation, he will need either a smart tag or apple air tag at adoption just in case he gets out. The rescue can provide one for a small donation, or his family can come prepared with their preference! Panda is neutered, UTD on shots, heartworm negative, and on HW preventative. His adoption donation is $300.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. Story
Introducing Patch! Patch is a 7 pound, 7 year old chi mix who has been learning how to trust humans after being rescued from a hoarding situation. When his foster family first started fostering him in February, he was terrified of everyone and everything. Getting him to come out of his shell has been a work in progress but he has made a lot of progress since February! Patch is very affectionate with his foster mom now and has finally reached a milestone as he sat next to his foster father on the couch, accepted pets from him without running away, and even licked his hand! He still seems mostly scared of strangers, though he is definitely a lot less anxious than he used to be. Patch is a very good eater and it is believed that he experienced food insecurity before being rescued, because he always seems ravenous. He has done well with potty training and generally will do his business outside now, provided he is let out regularly, but is also able to use a pee pad when needed. Patch originally was not a fan of leashes but now seems to enjoy short walks. He had a surgery on his back leg several months ago and was confined for quite some time while that was healing, but he is now up and about and going for walks, and the vet has finally given him the OK to get adopted! It is recommended that Patch go to a home with a fenced yard, as initially due to anxiety he can be quite difficult to catch to put a harness/leash on him! He still runs from foster mom sometimes when trying to put on a harness but isn’t as scared as he used to be. His foster mother’s fence is less than 3 feet high and he has never tried to jump over. He does get very scared of loud noises such as yelling or clapping and will run and hide when this happens. Due to his anxiety, it is recommended that Patch go to a calm home with 1-2 humans who are willing to be patient with him and understand that it may take a few months for him to really start feeling comfortable with them. Once he trusts you though, he is the perfect little companion. He has slept well in a crate but also enjoys sleeping in bed alongside his foster mother. Patch loves other dogs his size or smaller and it is recommended that he go to a home with at least one other dog to help him feel more comfortable and adjust better to his new surroundings. Patch loves laying in sun spots in the sun room, laying on a blanket on the couch (he’s great at using doggie stairs!), or, when he wants more privacy, hiding in his little “hidey hole” (it’s actually a cat house lol!) He is neutered, UTD on shots and on HW preventative. His adoption donation is $300.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.
