HW status: Too Young Spay/neutered?: Yes Tell us about this dog: Panda and her brother were rescued from the euthanasia list at a high kill shelter. Panda is a energetic ball of fun. She enjoys running and romping around with the other dogs, Playing with all kinds of toys, and getting all the belly rubs she can get. Panda has been with dog savvy cats and she does great with them. They all like playing together. It really puts a smile on all our faces when we come into the building and she is all tail wags and bouncing with excitement to get to come out of her kennel to play. Panda has a big personality in a little body. She can get bossy when it comes to feeding time with other dogs and has had to be corrected. She redirects quickly and will benefit with continue guidance of what is a acceptable behavior. Panda really is a great little girl and with continued guidance and love she is going to make a great family companion. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.CAESAR is a friendly, outgoing little guy who’s an owner surrender and through no fault of his own finds himself in our rescue looking for a new home. He’s neutered, vaccinated including rabies and microchipped. He has been seen regularly by a vet and his vet record shows he’s a healthy boy and the only thing noted is that he has the start of some tartar build up on his teeth. This little lap dog is a super friendly, outgoing little guy who wants to have a family that will have someone home with him most of the time to give him lots of attention as it’s important to him that he not be left alone all day. He just wants someone to love him and spend lots of time with him and enjoy having cuddles on the couch together as much as he does.   CAESAR is crate trained as well as house trained and is generally a good boy around the house. He likes children but will bark if they’re running around and chasing after him so we recommend they be aged 10 and up and will be loving and gentle towards him. He lived in a home with 2 cats and they were best of friends so he’d definitely suit a home with cats.  CAESAR walks well on either a leash or harness and loves to go on his walks so he’d need an active owner who loves walking as much as he does. He doesn’t bark at people or dogs on his walks but if there’s a knock at the door, well that’s a different story! We don’t recommend him going to a dog park with larger dogs as he’s just a little guy and could be easily set upon. It’s also not recommended that he be off leash until a strong bond has been formed between him and his owner and his recall has been tested for him to return to you. He loves playing with all sorts of toys, curling up on his dog bed and of course having treats. He’s pretty chill and well behaved and will easily fit in with most families but would probably suit an older household rather than a young family.  If CAESAR sounds like the little guy for you then please complete the adoption form to meet him. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 17, 2024, 3:03 pm

Story
Mary / Female / 10 months old / 12 pounds (likely fully grown) / Chihuahua Mix / Good Second Dog / No Cats Please / Likely Good with Kids Aged 8+ / From Tennessee / Fostered in Oakville Meet Mary! Sweet Mary, like many puppies, was born without a secure future. She was surrendered to our partner rescue in Tennessee and escaped a life on the streets or a worse fate. She is now safely in foster care in Ontario and is looking for her forever family. Mary’s foster describes her as playful, goofy, cuddly, affectionate, and smart! Mary loves going out on her walks and exploring her area a bit. Mary loves backyard play time and is adjusting well to walking on her leash. She walks happily but can be curious. Once that is done she can turn her attention to her real passion - toys! This girl loves all manner of toys, she loves playing fetch with a ball and will throw it around on her own. She loves enrichment toys like treat balls, crinkle toys (her favourite!), and is even getting used to squeaky toys. She also loves a good chew with a rubber bone. She clearly loves toys and it is a delight to watch her bouncy playful nature. Inside the house Mary likes to be close to her people. She has not been left alone and is working on independence and being left alone. She is also working on crate training. Having lived most of her life in a crate, Mary is readjusting to going in and out of the crate. She currently sleeps in a bed in her crate at night with the door open and a pen enclosure surrounding. She is working on calm behaviour in her crate and slowly increasing the time spent in the crate and is making positive progress but this will be something her forever family will need to continue working on. Mary is trusted in her puppy-proof pen with access to toys. When she’s out of the pen she will follow her human around until settling in a quiet spot. She has not been left alone but can calm herself when out of sight of her humans. Mary is working on basic obedience and is quick to try new things. She is treat motivated and eager to learn. She is very smart and picks things up quickly. Mary is trained to use a pee pad and her foster is working on getting her to transition to pottying outside but her forever family will need to continue this training. Mary has access to pee pads in her pen and will often use them in the middle of the night. Mary is gaining confidence and independence with each passing day. She is not overly fearful of anything but will be alert to strange or new noises. She can startle easy when new people make quick movements but she quickly recovers. With familiar people, Mary is friendly, easy going, and affectionate. She enjoys following her humans around the house and being close to them. She can be shy and take a minute to warm up to new people but is quickly comfortable like she has known them all along. Mary is looking for an active family who will take her on adventures and is home more often than not, and who will embrace her playful nature and give her lots of toys and enrichment. She will need a family that can encourage her independence but will also appreciate her affectionate nature and desire to be close to her humans. Mary could join a family with another dog or soak up the attention as the only dog. Mary has not been tested with cats and is looking for a cat-free home. Mary could live with respectful, dog savvy children aged 8+. Mary would prefer a quieter neighbourhood over a busy downtown area. She would enjoy a yard but could easily live in an apartment or condo as long as she received appropriate exercise and enrichment. Mary will make an excellent life long companion. As a condition of the adoption contract Mary’s new family will be required to attend and complete a basic obedience class at their own cost (proof required). If you’re interested in adopting Mary, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Mary's adoption fee is $900.
