Story
Ellana. Apx 5 -6 years young and 12.5 pounds. She is a funny gal with some quirks , but is also very funny , lovable and silly . Ellana has her moments though and can be a tad on the bipolar side. She was rescued from ACS after being on the euthanasia list, before that being rescued from a hoarding situation in which the house caught fire and animal control confiscated the dogs that made it out alive. So this gal has been through it! She has an adorable waddle, a snaggle tooth, an interesting pomchi coat, and a personality to boot. She had a very large mammary mass removed that was cancerous. Ellana has a little bit of a “tick” sometimes we will call it bc we don’t actually know what it is and when she went to the vet she of course did not do it there. Once in a very great while she will do a funny thing with her mouth that looks like how a fish breaths out of water. She will do it once or twice and then not do it at all for days or weeks and then some days she may do it several times. She did it more when she first arrived so we are wondering if it is like a nervous thing 🤷‍♀️ of course I can also never get this on video so I’m sure my description does not do it justice, but this does not bother her. She hardly never does it and it appears to be just some sort of neurological a little tick. Ellana takes a minute to warm up to new people and she does bark at strangers and give them the side eye, however she is not a biter or an aggressive dog. That being said if Ellana felt really cornered or in danger , I would not completely put it past her to nip so we are definitely not going to put her in home with children. Ellana is VERY sweet and loving it just takes her a day or two to get used to new people and places . She did great at the vet, no issues. We can bathe her, do her nails etc. but if the handy man comes over or a stranger she will try and “protect you” and she puts her hackles up and barks and tries her best to act intimidating, but as soon as they get down and say hi and are there for a few minutes, she is fine and probably by lunch will be in their lap. Ellana gets along well with cats and dogs however she “moms” the dogs . She is a bit of the boss and alpha here but not in a way that she gets in fights and she never attacks dogs or anything but she is confident and a tad on the bossy side, she loves to play and has several friends here she is in a yard space with 9 other dogs . She loves to play with them but when she is done and ready for her nap she has no problem letting them know. She will also break up other dogs fights or if she thinks the other dogs are playing too rough she goes and “moms” them. She is the mama bear of the group for sure. She is a very good girl, she has been through a lot and she deserves to know what a real home, a real family is like. She is beautiful and so so soft. She also looks at you and pays attention to you like she is really listening to what you are saying lol. Ellana is a good catch, she just needs the right home. Story
Please read bio carefully. Looking for an experienced adopter or foster. Joy is 21 pounds and 10 months old. We are assuming Chi/Pug mix of some sort. She is a short hefty gal. Joy has hydrocephalus. We are looking for a special needs adopter for her. Preferably someone whom has had hydro dogs before and are familiar with their needs. Joy was born hydrocephalic. Hers is pretty severe however , she is very loving, gets along with other dogs, is very quiet, never makes a peep, really likes attention and affection. She does not spin in circles or have seizures. She has no major neuro issues aside from the typical depth perception of neuro dogs. She even rides well in a car. Joy is a really great dog deserving of a wonderful home. She will bring a lot of joy and love to your home. As hydro dogs do. This week she is even learning the doggy door and using it 50% of the time to potty in her dog yard but like most hydro babies, she is a slow learner. She needs a lot of love and patience . We really prefer an adopter with special needs experience. Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
TINK & TABITHA are currently being fostered in TEXAS Tabitha is the pointy earred Chihuahua. Apx 10 years and 7.8 pounds. She is a bit on the thin side and we’ve been putting some meat on her little old bones. She has a love for cheeseburgers! 😂 🍔 Tink is apx 8 years old and apx 6.8 pounds also a tad on the thin side. She is a chihuahua terrier mix and has kind of scruffy terrier hair. They were shaved before we got them, I am not sure why, so their coat is growing in. They are VERY picky eaters! They eat a lot of hot dogs, cheeseburgers and a little kibble but we struggle to get them to eat dog food. These girls although not litter mates, are sisters. Tink has never known a life without Tabitha and they are extremely bonded. They need a home together. These girls were not well cared for but we know the best is yet to come for them. They both had dentals and blood work. They are doing well for their age but need a little extra TLC. They need stability, love, routine, lots of heating pads and warm sweaters because they are always cold! Lol The girls are 100% pee pad trained. They will walk on a leash but I am not sure if they will want to do that in the winter months 🙂 The girls are typical chihuahuas and when they get scared or nervous they bark. With new dogs and new people they will be quite yappy for a minute but they calm down quickly and are not very barky. They are great with people and animals but just takes them a moment to be sure of them. They are not aggressive. We all adore them and we know you will too! They need you!! 💜 Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
✨ Meet Morel ✨ Tall, slim, and blonde — this stunning 10 lb girl is about 3–4 years old and full of quiet resilience. Rescued from a group of 17 dogs in rural Ontario, Morel is now ready to find a patient, loving forever home where she can continue to grow and thrive. 🌿💛 She’s an outdoorsy girl who LOVES to run and explore. Still cautious with new people and surroundings, she prefers the company of women and calm, confident female dogs. She currently lives with two male dogs and mostly ignores them — but she’s made it clear she’s not a fan of small dogs or puppies and can be reactive toward them. Morel isn’t quite a lap dog (yet), but she’s learning to trust and bond in her own time. She’s independent, spirited, and deserves someone who will celebrate that. 🐾 🩺 Medical Notes: • Diagnosed with GERD – needs poultry-free food + daily OTC meds • Should be fed separately – still learning to share • Healed leg injury doesn’t slow her down, but joint support is a good idea • Would do best in a home with minimal stairs 🚗 Great in the car and usually naps during rides. She’s also making great progress with leash walking and potty training, especially with regular breaks or access to pads. 🛏️ Crate training is slow — wire crates are a no-go due to past trauma, but she’s warming up to larger plastic or wooden ones. She has a strong bark when excited or unsure — though it took 4 months to hear her first bark! She's slowly learning when to use her voice. Morel is looking for a patient, dog-savvy person or family who understands her boundaries, sees her potential, and is willing to earn her trust. She’s been through so much — but her spirit is strong and her heart is opening. 💫 📍Fostered in the GTA 📩 Apply to adopt via www.texaschihuahuarescuecanada.org

Story
SOPHIA is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Sophia is approximately 2 to 4 years old and weighs 8.3 pounds. She is shy and timid, sweet, demure and calm. She loves blankets, beds and naps. She is good with cats, dogs and well mannered older children. I think Sophia would be fine with children. I just don’t think she would want to live with younger children full-time or with extremely hyper dogs. She is pretty low-key. She was skittish upon arriving here but has really come out of her shell and has become quite the little cuddle bug. It will just take her a bit of time to get used to new people and places. She came from a bad hoarding situation. She needs to be socialized a bit and to gain some confidence but we know she has it in her to do so. She is a truly gentle loving soul. 🥰 Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
CLOVE is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Clove is the sweetest baby girl. Apx 2-3 pounds and Apx 12 pounds. She is loving, sweet, and quiet with just a dash of the Chihuahua sass once she gets to know you and starts to blossom. Clove loves cats!! She was in the cat room at the local shelter we rescued her from and would snuggle with the cats. She was in there because she was afraid of the larger dogs in the kennel and all the noise. She is shy when meeting new dogs but she does warm up and does like dogs. She just needs slow introductions to them or she will run from them and then hide in a corner. Sometimes she will show her teeth or growl out of fear. This is only to other dogs she does not know. She warms up to the dogs very quickly. She may have been bullied or beat up on the streets as a stray. She just needs a little time, love and patience. She is not aggressive or mean.
