Story
Penny was guesstimated to be 7 yrs old and weighs 11 lbs while at the dog shelter. However, based on her youthful looks, her level of energy, her clear sparkling black eyes and pearly white teeth, we estimate her to be somewhat younger, more around 5 years of age. Penny was confiscated by authorities from a hoarding situation along with other dogs, where the neglected dogs were confined to a basement. She is so cute and elegant with her square compact body shape and her long muscular legs that give her great mobility. Penny’s blond coat has the added benefit of being low shedding. She has stunningly big, bright and shiny dark eyes that are amplified by her surrounding light cream coloured mask. Penny is such a pretty girl!” She had a dental cleaning done and her “pearlies” are super white (minus a couple of missing lower front teeth). She is a healthy little dog, who loves food and is very alert: she always keeps a watchful eye on her caregiver’s every move. Her favourite occupation is to watch her foster mom pottering around the kitchen, patiently sitting close by on the floor hoping to get a treat or keeping watch while laying in her kitchen day bed. She loves to chew on raw hide bones and entertains herself gnawing on them for long periods of time. Every now and then, she comes to her foster mom for a quick petting and gives her kisses to thank her for the attention she just received, then, she happily returns, tail wagging to her bed, to keep watching the love of her life. Penny does not give her heart to everybody, she is exclusive and keeps all of her love for her caregiver. She is extremely affectionate, devoted and trusting towards her # 1 human: turns over for belly rubs, lets her handle and touch any body parts including her paws, ears, mouth. She does not display any aggression towards other humans, she simply ignores them unless they offer her a treat! She likes to sit on her foster mom’s lap for a short while or near her on the sofa. She is smart, inquisitive, curious and interested in everything her favourite person does, which makes her a great, very present companion. She is a bit wary of men but forgets her fear when they offer a treat! She is extremely food motivated. While she is shy when first meeting strangers and will ignore them, she quickly warms up for a moment with a treat, especially if there is another friendly dog around to lead the way. She likes other dogs, even large size dogs do not scare her and is definitely more confident in other canines presence. She is a follower, not a leader. She patiently waits for her turn to get a treat but she will not happily share her food bowl or chewing bone with other dogs and will silently curl her upper lip to let it known. She is also fine with cats as she was exposed to them while residing at her US shelter and allowed in the office where long term cat residents roamed freely. Penny is working on her leash walking skills and doing well. She has the cutest, funny antics, such as her twirling on herself welcoming dance when foster mom returns home or prepares her food bowl annd her sudden outbursts of passionate kissing when she gets up in the morning! Penny is pee pad trained and well housebroken. She can also be given the run of the house as she is not destructive at all and is well housebroken. She knows to relieve herself on pee pad or outdoors. Penny will alert and bark when someone is at the door. When she first arrived in our foster care, any noise would often triggered a bark, but she pretty much has this under control by now. This little gal is a true gem, such a pleasure to have around because she provides steady, real ever present company to her caregiver without being overly demanding of attention. Ideal adoptive candidate (s) for this little waggy tail cutie: female single or female couple, or both gender couple with a male partner who does not mind being second fiddle ;-) Are you this special person Penny has been long waiting for?

Story
This is a courtesy posting on behalf of SOS dog rescue. Coco is 3.5 yrs old and weighs approximately 7 lbs. Coco came from a hoarding situation so she is a very social little gal with other dogs and she learned out of necessity not to be a push over and let other dogs boss her around. She has been exposed to cats and can be trusted to co-live with a dog savvy cat. She is friendly, very affectionate and loving towards humans. She is a total lap dog. She has a sweet and gentle temperament that makes her suitable to be around dog savvy children 10 yrs and older. Coco is peepad trained and also knows to relieve herself outdoors. Coco is a typical chihuahua so she can be vocal when the doorbell rings and when she sees a dog in the neighbour's yard. She quiets down quickly as soon as visitors give her some attention. Coco is a very sweet and gentle, affectionate family dog.

Story
Ellana. Apx 5 -6 years young and 12.5 pounds. She is a funny gal with some quirks , but is also very funny , lovable and silly . Ellana has her moments though and can be a tad on the bipolar side. She was rescued from ACS after being on the euthanasia list, before that being rescued from a hoarding situation in which the house caught fire and animal control confiscated the dogs that made it out alive. So this gal has been through it! She has an adorable waddle, a snaggle tooth, an interesting pomchi coat, and a personality to boot. She had a very large mammary mass removed that was cancerous. Ellana has a little bit of a “tick” sometimes we will call it bc we don’t actually know what it is and when she went to the vet she of course did not do it there. Once in a very great while she will do a funny thing with her mouth that looks like how a fish breaths out of water. She will do it once or twice and then not do it at all for days or weeks and then some days she may do it several times. She did it more when she first arrived so we are wondering if it is like a nervous thing 🤷‍♀️ of course I can also never get this on video so I’m sure my description does not do it justice, but this does not bother her. She hardly never does it and it appears to be just some sort of neurological a little tick. Ellana takes a minute to warm up to new people and she does bark at strangers and give them the side eye, however she is not a biter or an aggressive dog. That being said if Ellana felt really cornered or in danger , I would not completely put it past her to nip so we are definitely not going to put her in home with children. Ellana is VERY sweet and loving it just takes her a day or two to get used to new people and places . She did great at the vet, no issues. We can bathe her, do her nails etc. but if the handy man comes over or a stranger she will try and “protect you” and she puts her hackles up and barks and tries her best to act intimidating, but as soon as they get down and say hi and are there for a few minutes, she is fine and probably by lunch will be in their lap. Ellana gets along well with cats and dogs however she “moms” the dogs . She is a bit of the boss and alpha here but not in a way that she gets in fights and she never attacks dogs or anything but she is confident and a tad on the bossy side, she loves to play and has several friends here she is in a yard space with 9 other dogs . She loves to play with them but when she is done and ready for her nap she has no problem letting them know. She will also break up other dogs fights or if she thinks the other dogs are playing too rough she goes and “moms” them. She is the mama bear of the group for sure. She is a very good girl, she has been through a lot and she deserves to know what a real home, a real family is like. She is beautiful and so so soft. She also looks at you and pays attention to you like she is really listening to what you are saying lol. Ellana is a good catch, she just needs the right home. Story
Please read bio carefully. Looking for an experienced adopter or foster. Joy is 21 pounds and 10 months old. We are assuming Chi/Pug mix of some sort. She is a short hefty gal. Joy has hydrocephalus. We are looking for a special needs adopter for her. Preferably someone whom has had hydro dogs before and are familiar with their needs. Joy was born hydrocephalic. Hers is pretty severe however , she is very loving, gets along with other dogs, is very quiet, never makes a peep, really likes attention and affection. She does not spin in circles or have seizures. She has no major neuro issues aside from the typical depth perception of neuro dogs. She even rides well in a car. Joy is a really great dog deserving of a wonderful home. She will bring a lot of joy and love to your home. As hydro dogs do. This week she is even learning the doggy door and using it 50% of the time to potty in her dog yard but like most hydro babies, she is a slow learner. She needs a lot of love and patience . We really prefer an adopter with special needs experience. Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
TINK & TABITHA are currently being fostered in TEXAS Tabitha is the pointy earred Chihuahua. Apx 10 years and 7.8 pounds. She is a bit on the thin side and we’ve been putting some meat on her little old bones. She has a love for cheeseburgers! 😂 🍔 Tink is apx 8 years old and apx 6.8 pounds also a tad on the thin side. She is a chihuahua terrier mix and has kind of scruffy terrier hair. They were shaved before we got them, I am not sure why, so their coat is growing in. They are VERY picky eaters! They eat a lot of hot dogs, cheeseburgers and a little kibble but we struggle to get them to eat dog food. These girls although not litter mates, are sisters. Tink has never known a life without Tabitha and they are extremely bonded. They need a home together. These girls were not well cared for but we know the best is yet to come for them. They both had dentals and blood work. They are doing well for their age but need a little extra TLC. They need stability, love, routine, lots of heating pads and warm sweaters because they are always cold! Lol The girls are 100% pee pad trained. They will walk on a leash but I am not sure if they will want to do that in the winter months 🙂 The girls are typical chihuahuas and when they get scared or nervous they bark. With new dogs and new people they will be quite yappy for a minute but they calm down quickly and are not very barky. They are great with people and animals but just takes them a moment to be sure of them. They are not aggressive. We all adore them and we know you will too! They need you!! 💜 Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given.
