Story
Currently fostered in Texas Bonnie is 7-8 years old and 8.2 pounds Bonnie is such a sweet and gentle girl, a bit of a nervous nellie at first but bonds quickly with her people. Is good with other dogs , cats and well mannered calm children , preferably middle school age and up. She is good at doing potty on the wee pads if she is not able to go outside. She walks on leash and harness but may be nervous at first with new people, places and maybe keeping her indoors the first few days to decompress is best. She is a doll, a 110% lap baby. A bit if a picky eater. Loves cheese, hot dogs and chicken but dog food is a hit and miss. Her human mama passed away and she came to the rescue. She has lived a quiet gentle life thus far. Bonnie is her original name, we also call her bon bon . It would be nice if she could keep it. She is a gentle soul and we are looking for another gentle gentle soul to be her pawrent Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Currently fostered in Texas Butch aka Butchy aka Toby lol Butch is 4-5 years old and 16 pounds. His name is Butch, that is the name he came with however, for some reason, he really looks like a Toby to me and I always accidentally call him Toby or Toby Tobe , so now he knows both 😂 Butch’s mom had to be put in hospice care and he came to the rescue . He was an obese 20 pounds when he came here but now is down to 16.5 , 13-15 would be a good weight for him. Butch is scared of everything. He is afraid of his own shadow. He was terrified when he first got here but never aggressive. You can pick him up but he does not ask for it nor does he ask for attention or bid for your love. He hides most days under a shelf on a bed we made him and he lets you pet him but he just freezes when you do, although recently when I pet him he is at-least less stiff and maybe in 2-3 more weeks he will actually pretend to enjoy it . Poor Butch had a sheltered life and was under socialized, but that was the only life he knew, so coming here he was very shut down. But recently, when we’re not watching him and we spy on him through the window, he does lay with the other dogs and kind of prances around and seems pretty relaxed. He likes to go outside, but does not really want to be out there with you. He basically acts like a feral dog, but never shows any sign of aggression and he is very much like having a cat. He will use the pee pads or go outside. He MUST have a fenced yard. He does not understand walking on a leash. He also does not actually run from you. He will just sit there and freeze and let you pick him up but sometimes he will nervous pee if he does not know the person picking him up. It took him about two weeks with me to stop peeing on me, but he did, thankfully. He never barks or fusses or whines or cries. We have never heard a peep from him. He will tolerate baths and nails and ears but does not enjoy it, again he just freezes terrified. He sun bathes with his friends when it is warm. He sleeps a lot. He is a cat dog. But I do think once he is in a home and gets used to that new home with his new people, he will relax a lot, and will be a loving part of the family. It is just going to take a lot of time and patience. He has beautiful eyes and a beautiful rare chocolate Merle coat. He needs a patient and loving adopter that will just give him the time he needs to grieve, acclimate, and adjust. Gentle hands and soft voices. He is great with all other animals and he has never met kids but I think would be fine with older kids, he has zero aggression, but would be terrified of a toddler. He just needs time. I believe in him and I hope someone else out there will too. 💜 Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Ginger is apx 8-10 years young , 10 pounds, and does not act like a senior dog. She does love her cuddles, blankets and nap time, but she has a lot of life in her and is full of love and curiosity. She loves being outside and following the humans around while they do their daily chores. Great with all animals and people and well mannered gentle children. Ginger is a cutie pie. She is really well mannered and has a good demeanor. She acclimates quickly to a new routine and new people. Ginger is her original name . Her human papa passed away and Ginger came to us. She is looking for her new family that help her heal and return to a loving family home that adores her . She did have a dental and lost a few teeth but still has plenty of cleaned pearly whites and fresh breath now 🙂 She is still learning leash and harness walking and is a little nervous trying this. She appears to have good potty manners and goes outdoors or on a wee pad Apply www.texaschihuahua.org Please read our Q&A on our we site for basic adoption questions

Story
Currently fostered in Texas Mochi was originally Topaz at the ranch, she was rescued last year but had to be returned to the rescue. She knows the name Mochi now. She was returned because the adopter was having a hard time potty training her, even after hiring a dog trainer, so her future adopter or foster will need to work on that. At the rescue where she has a doggy door , there is no issue with her going potty inside and she also holds it all night and does not potty inside here at the ranch. Mochi apx 6 years young and 9.5 pounds. She is a very loving and affectionate dog. She loves people and children (her adopter had two children) . She is submissive with people and loves all the attention and lap time. She acclimates very quickly and bonds very quickly with humans. She is good with other dogs and cats, she has lots of fur friends and even sleeps with the other dogs at night, she is not aggressive, not food aggressive or anything BUT, she is a bit of a dominant bossy female. She plays with other dogs here and she loves to play and cuddle with them but she is the “mom” and a bit of the fun police at times, typical chiweenie behavior. She also rarely starts a tussle but if another dog growls or tries to be dominant over her, she will stand her ground which sometimes leads to a little girl fight. She walks on leash perfectly. All in all Mochi is a great girl , just a bit of a diva 🙂 and very much holds many traits more so of her dachshund mix . Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Meet Hico ❤️ — the tiny tornado with a giant heart Hico is a 4–8‑month‑old, 7.2‑lb (as of Feb 10) bundle of joy whose mom is an 18‑lb Chihuahua mix and whose dad is a delightful mystery. With his expressive face and quirky build, he looks like he’s carrying a fun blend of chi, shepherd, and maybe even a dash of chibble charm. We expect he’ll grow into a medium-sized dog, around 30 lbs. Why Hico steals hearts: • Social butterfly — he loves everyone he meets • All boy, all fun — playful, goofy, and full of personality • Plays hard, crashes hard — zoomies followed by deep, snuggly naps • Cuddle bug — once he’s done roughhousing, he melts right into your arms Hico is the perfect mix of energy and affection, ready to bring laughter, warmth, and a whole lot of love into the right home. If you’re looking for a joyful, social pup who lives life with enthusiasm and loves with his whole heart, Hico is your boy — apply to adopt him today. Story
Currently fostered in Texas Cricket is approximately 10 years old and weighs 11 pounds. He did have a dental and has 15 teeth missing now, but he still has 12 pearly whites remaining . Crickets human dad passed away and he was brought to the rescue. He can be a very sweet and loving boy, but it does take cricket a few days to get to know some people, but not all. Cricket has always been great with me and is very loving with me. But he took a couple days to get used to the other girls. After about a week he was good with everyone that works here. He had met a retired couple last week and was great with them, he was good at the vet office, but once in a while he meets someone that he is not quite ready for them to just pick him up and he may growl or try to get away. 90% of the time he is fine, 10% of the time he is a chihuahua. I adore cricket and think he is a lovely little boy. He bonds quickly to his person and when he does he is such a lover boy. He does wear a belly band when roaming around inside. He does not always mark, but we have caught him a couple times. So a belly band will be needed until he gets used to his new place. Cricket walks well on leash and harness and is very cuddly once he gets to know you. Unfortunately, cricket is heartworm positive and we are doing the slow kill method of heartworm treatment for him and he has gotten a pro heart injection. 10 years old we just feel he is too old to do the amid side injections and prefer to go this route . We do hope Cricket finds his family soon. He is sad here. He is used to being with his human all day and having pets and love and treats. He loves food. He does not care about cats and is pretty aloof to them. No young children please. He is good with other dogs but it takes him a few days to get used to them as well. Especially younger dogs that like to play and bounce around in his face, he will give a little elvis lip or growl but he has never attacked another dog , the same as he is with people he just needs some time and space to decompress and get used to a new situation but he does . Cricket is with other dogs here at the Rescue and is fine with them. He also came with five other fur siblings. He is just emotional 🙂 he has a lot of feelings and it takes him a couple days to shake them out, but I promise he is such a good boy. Just needs some tlc and a little time.
