Story
Meet Mo! If you are looking for a new man in your life that is confident, loves to snuggle, won’t hog to many of the sheets in bed, and has a killer tan, then look no further than Mo! Mo is a 2.5-year-old, 13 lb., (mostly) sweet Chihuahua …if you know the breed, you know what I mean. Whereas he is cute and snuggly, he will sometimes give a warning grumble if he feels smothered…he has never followed through on his grumbles, however. Mo gets along well with other small dogs and seems indifferent to confident cats but was always on leash around them. He does well in a crate but is also ok in house for the most part – as long as there is nothing of value on low-access tables. He does enjoy sitting on chairs…any and all chairs, lol. He walks ok on a leash, but will pull a little, so a harness is preferred. He is housetrained but has had the occasional marking accident. Mo came into rescue as a part of a home seizure, with no more information. He was heartworm positive on intake, so Mo has spent 6 months with his foster family while undergoing treatment. Luckily, he is now negative!! He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and currently on heartworm prevention.

**Foster Update** "Mamas is one of my newer fosters but she has fit right into my foster pack. She's a little jumping bean and doesn't stop until I pick her up; she just wants to be loved!" Meet Mamas! Mamas came to us, along with her friend Snoop Dogg, after being surrendered due to their family moving and not being able to take them. Mamas and Snoop Dogg are not a bonded pair that needs to be adopted together, and both are ready for homes of their own! Mamas is a sweet but sassy little girl who isn’t afraid to tell you how she feels! She is a 5 year old Chihuahua mix, who will surely steal your heart with her big personality. She is good with other dogs, and is doing wonderful in her foster home! As with all rescue dogs, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learns to live in a house and around people. We require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods only. If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾 🩷 If you want to support our dogs but cannot take on another dog at this time please consider sponsoring their adoption fee! 🩷

Story
✨Meet Blue!✨ Blue pulled as part of “Angel Retreat’s ACCT’s of Love” program. Blue was originally brought into a kill shelter in Philadelphia after being surrendered by the children of his previous owner, after their passing. His previous owner was noted to be a hoarder. This shelter is the only open intake shelter for the entire city, and is extremely underfunded and overcrowded. Senior dogs have a very hard time getting adopted, and we are always happy to take them on and give them all the time they need to find all the love and happiness they deserve in their golden years. Blue is an 9 year old Chihuahua mixed breed who is nervous after all this change in his life, but is learning slowly he is safe. He is a little man with a spicy personality. He was never well socialized, but is doing really well learning all these new things in his life. He would do best in a home without young children. If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾

Story
MIMI is a sweet and spunky 12 year old Chihuahua in need of a forever home so she can be comfortable and spoiled in her senior years.  Mimi came to our shelter after her family of 12 years was unfortunately uprooted and unable to take her with them.  Mimi is initially timid around new people and seems to like women more than men (although she loved her dad who handed her over to us and he loved her). Given time she will gain trust and become much more outgoing.  Mimi gets very attached to “her person” and wants to be held and loved, her favorite place to be is on her persons lap.  Mimi is also independent and will snuggle on her bed and not complain if she can’t be held.  Mimi is still active and loves to explore the backyard with her foster brother and sister (both large dogs).  She gets along well with dogs and cats and had a dog companion in her former home.  Mimi also loves walks and gets very excited when she sees her leash.  Mimi is housebroken and will run to the door and let you know when she needs to go out.  At her foster home, Mimi likes to have her bed in her crate for a “safe place” away from the other dogs.  Mimi has been seen by an ophthalmologist for cataracts. The lens in her right eye has a mature cataract and a luxated lens but is not painful. Her left eye has a cataract also. Mimi is very good about getting her eye drops (2 different drops to keep her comfortable and to keep her condition from progressing). She will need to be on these eyedrop for life and will need an annual visit with the eye doctor. Mimi's bloodwork at intake looked good and her heart is strong and healthy. Mimi will be spayed prior to adoption. she is doing well on a Farmer's Dog type of diet. Adoption fee is reduced because we know you will have expenses down the road ($200). If you are  the family Mimi is looking for, please fill out an adoption application at www.companimals.org. Excellent vet references are a must. References and home visit required for all of our pups. November 24, 2025, 12:31 am
