Bast is a 2-year-old possible Italian Greyhound mix, but his medical records indicate Chihuahua. He looks like a real-life version of the dog from The Simpsons. He weighs about 12 pounds and is crate trained and house trained. Bast came to us from a hoarding situation, where dozens of little dogs like him were in a very small home. He is very nervous in new situations and will take above average time to warm up to new people, therefore we he would love a home with another dog showing him that humans are okay and show him the ropes and a fenced in yard. Once Bast gets to know and trust you he loves being held and cuddled but will also quietly entertain himself in his crate for hours. He loves his crate – it’s his safe space and will go in on his own when he’s tired or just wants a break from the other dogs. He is active and athletic and even though he’s little, would make a great running partner. He would also be fine in a more sedate home if he had a safe yard to let the zoomies out. Due to his shy personality and needing above average time to get comfortable with new people, Bast does require a fenced in yard and is would not be a candidate for apartment type living Bast is great with the four larger dogs in his foster home and while we haven’t seen him around cats, we expect he will be fine with them. He is not comfortable with young children and will try to chase them away, so he needs a home with no kids under 14. If you want a little dog with a big personality, Bast may be the one for you. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet’s age. **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. Her fast friendship with cats probably has to do with her size - weighing in at 9 lbs, she’s about the same size as the cats in her foster house. She loves sharing their small toys. When she’s not frolicking in the yard or sharing snuggles on the couch, Charlotta loves her daily walks. Her cheerful demeanor makes every outing an adventure, and her affectionate nature ensures that you’ll always have a loyal snuggling buddy by your side - she loves the be held! Charlotta quickly mastered potty training and goes to the door when she’d like to go out. She sleeps in a crate at night and when her foster parents aren’t home. She has a cozy bed inside and loves to curl up but it does take her a bit to settle down in the crate - especially if people are home while she’s in it. Her foster parents are working on this but she may not be the best for an apartment due to her vocal nature in the crate. She walks wonderfully on a leash and loves to ride in the car. She is very food motivated and comes when called. In addition to getting along with all varying sizes of dogs and cats she also loves kids! Charlotta might be small in size, but her heart is overflowing with affection and warmth.
