Story
My name should have been Happy because I am the happiest boy. But the name Lucky, also, fits because I am Lucky now to have been rescued. I am about a five year old or older Chihuahua. I was abandoned in a place with about 7 other Chihuahuas. You can guess what the place looked and smelled after we were left there for a long time. Some of the other Chi’s were eating through the walls to get out. We were rescued and taken to the shelter. I think my siblings and I were so glad to be out of the place where we were left. The shelter said we all had great dispositions. My tail has not stopped wagging since I came to my foster home. I do have some tremors but the humans are not sure why. All of us left behind were very malnourished which could attribute to my issues. My hip bones are showing and I am really skinny. But rest assure I am being fed now and will fatten up just fine. I do bump into things on occasion but I don’t let the stop me. I run, I play and I ask for attention. I have a funny little gait as well. Again this could come from being so happy or being so malnourished. Again it does not stop me from doing all the doggy things I need to do. So far I get along with other dogs. I am starting to play with another dog about my size. I am just learning to play with toys. I pick the toys up and am so happy but then not sure what to do. I am watching the others dogs so I am sure I will catch on. I get along with all sizes of dogs as long as they are nice to me. I am not perfectly housebroken but will wear a belly band and it is usually dry when I get outside to use the potty. Not being housebroken may have to do with not being neutered and from being inside for a long time. I will be neutered in November so I am given a chance to put on weight and get stronger. I am starting to go into a crate when I need to. I do not always want to be crated but it is safe. I love to eat and have treats. I love to be outside with my human and doggy friends. I am learning to walk on a leash. It took me two days to learn my foster home’s routine so I am smart. I can be a bit fearful in a new situation but once I am comfortable, I am wide open. I will just cower when I feel unsafe. As long as folks give me time I will come around. I do love being held. I go nonstop and so does that tail of mine. I am happy to be in a safe and clean spot. If you have a spot in your house I can be safe in let us know. I would love a forever family that I can be loved and cared for. Please complete an application at safeanimalhaven.org if interested in giving Lucky a forever home!April 4, 2024, 7:39 pm

Story
Marshall is the cutest guy with an adorable personality.. He is VERY communicative. Tells you when he wants to go out and tells you a LOT of other things that we have not even figured out yet! He walks a little funny , with his front legs rather straight but he has been checked out thoroughly by our vet and he is not in pain. Maybe has some arthritis. It definitely does not keep him from going places because he walks great on a leash and LOVES going for walks!

Story
Thimble is a 17 week old, 2 1/2 pound Chihuahua. This girl will probably never get to be more than 5 lbs. Her foster parents call her the Tiny Terror. Like a typical puppy, she likes to chew on everything, including hands and feet. She can get into the smallest spaces (behind the refrigerator, furniture, washer and dryer) so she needs constant supervision to ensure her safety. I wouldn’t recommend a balcony or fence she could get out of and get hurt or small children because of her size. Thimble is feisty and loves other dogs once she gets to know them. She’s working on house breaking and she sleeps quietly in her crate, but still has accidents in it. She is up to date on her vaccinations and looking for someone to love and care for her. If you are interested in adopting Thimble, please submit an inquiry directly with Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. ***Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. Story
Sometimes we never know what we will see when we start up our car and leave the safety of our homes and our beloved pets that wait for us to return.  Sometimes what we see on the road is disturbing and downright WRONG.     This pair of Chihuahuas were discovered by one of our faithful rescue fosters as she traveled a back country road that was mostly farmland and very few  houses on the road.  First she say the little white chihuahua in the road and he ran from her and wouldn’t let her catch him.  She tried for a while.  Then she went to the nearest house and talked to a man who was out in his yard about this white Chihuahua.  He told her who owned the land where the dog was seen running and so a few days later she went back determined to ride up and down the road until she could see the dog again.  Well there were TWO little chihuahuas now; white and black and tan.  She found the owners of the land and asked them about the Chis and was told they were dropped off by some unknown person and that they had been up in their barn trying to eat the cow feed. They were abandoned and soon our rescue foster trapped them and brought them home to change their life forever.  We are getting them vetted and neutered and spayed 1/26. WE NEED FOSTER HELP!   The white boy is very shy and the black and tan is a female and the “protector” of her male friend.  Help us give them a short term place to stay while we look for a permanent and forever loving home!  Can you help for a few weeks?  Please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.  They can be fostered in Nashville, TN or even in the New England area.  We transport weekly and just need someone to show them kindness, love and stability.  They will be ever so grateful!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 12, 2024, 9:37 pm

Story
This special girl is called Joni and she is a 2-3 year old Chihuahua girl that weighs 11 pounds and looking for a dream home.  This girl who has been a momma with babies before, was found with what we believe to be one of her puppies, a son named Chachi, who is white and a year old now.     This girl was found  abandoned in a very remote rural area that was nothing but countryside farm land.  The owners of the farm told us that they both showed up and had been there looking for food and shelter for over a week.  Our rescue foster mom couldn’t stand to see them left outside in the cold and with no place to be safely sheltered.  They would not come to her and so she humanely trapped them and took them home.  The rest will be history for both of these Chihuahuas.  Momma Joni is a sweet and confident girl who still takes her protective mothering responsibilities seriously.  She is still mothering and overseeing her son Chachi.  She is housebroken pretty well and crate trained and she does get along with the other small dogs in the foster home…and the cat too!  We have promised Momma Joni that she will never be thrown out and abandoned ever again.   She is ready for a new and loving owner to sweep her away on a little magic carpet to live happily ever after.   Is that you holding the key to her heart and forever future!?  Contact us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 12, 2024, 9:37 pm

Story
Clifford is a very lucky little Chihuahua.  Found in the middle of a small country road in front of a very disturbing trailer that was overrun with animals and a family that didn’t care about any of them.  Clifford was destined to being run over. This darling little guy weighs 9 pounds and is determined to be about 3-4 years and no older despite the grey on his black muzzle.  This boy is cautious when meeting new people but as soon as he is sure of you he is just the most cuddly and loving boy ever.  He is pretty much housebroken, crate trained and he is good with cats and dogs of all sizes.  He is good on a leash and would be such a great fulltime companion if he is given a consist and calm lifestyle and home.  His long little tail was broken at some point in his life and crooked and sort of a funny part of his persona.  It is not painful to him so don’t be concerned.  Clifford would be best in a home with older children and adults of course are fine for his personality.  If you are interested in this boy please write to us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  We are happy to talk with you about this darling little black nugget of a Chihuahua.
