After being in my foster home and having my true personality come out my foster parents have learned a lot more about me. I am not so attached to Anna as I was. I like the other dogs but mostly just want a human to love me. I could sit with you and be petted all day long. I am crate trained but prefer to be near my human. I would love to be an only dog or to have just another dog friend in the house. I will tolerate other dogs because it is the human that is the most important. I still love Anna but can, also, live without her if it means I get more attention.   I was found as a stray with my friend, Anna. I am a good friend to Anna and will protect her. I can be timid In a new situation but warms up fast. Once I trust the humans and the surrounding I can be a love bug.   I am heartworm positive. I will need to continue on a specific heart worm preventative every month. I have been taking Doxycycline for the first 30 days that I have been in rescue. He will need to be retested in 6 months and every year to make sure he becomes heart worm negative.   I would love to be adopted with my friend Anna. I would like a quiet home due to my timidness. Meet Lulu! This funny gal is the perfect medium Chihuahua mix who weighs around 25lbs and 9 years old. Just like her foster mama, Lulu hasn’t met a snack she doesn’t enjoy and needs to lose a couple pounds. Lulu is cautious of new friends at first, but will warm up to them and plays well with other dogs. Lulu is up to date on all vaccines, spayed and is house and crate trained.   Sometimes we never know what we will see when we start up our car and leave the safety of our homes and our beloved pets that wait for us to return.  Sometimes what we see on the road is disturbing and downright WRONG.     This pair of Chihuahuas were discovered by one of our faithful rescue fosters as she traveled a back country road that was mostly farmland and very few  houses on the road.  First she say the little white chihuahua in the road and he ran from her and wouldn’t let her catch him.  She tried for a while.  Then she went to the nearest house and talked to a man who was out in his yard about this white Chihuahua.  He told her who owned the land where the dog was seen running and so a few days later she went back determined to ride up and down the road until she could see the dog again.  Well there were TWO little chihuahuas now; white and black and tan.  She found the owners of the land and asked them about the Chis and was told they were dropped off by some unknown person and that they had been up in their barn trying to eat the cow feed. They were abandoned and soon our rescue foster trapped them and brought them home to change their life forever.  We are getting them vetted and neutered and spayed 1/26. This special girl is called Joni and she is a 2-3 year old Chihuahua girl that weighs 11 pounds and looking for a dream home.  This girl who has been a momma with babies before, was found with what we believe to be one of her puppies, a son named Chachi, who is white and a year old now.     This girl was found  abandoned in a very remote rural area that was nothing but countryside farm land.  The owners of the farm told us that they both showed up and had been there looking for food and shelter for over a week.  Our rescue foster mom couldn’t stand to see them left outside in the cold and with no place to be safely sheltered.  They would not come to her and so she humanely trapped them and took them home.  The rest will be history for both of these Chihuahuas.  Momma Joni is a sweet and confident girl who still takes her protective mothering responsibilities seriously.  She is still mothering and overseeing her son Chachi.  She is housebroken pretty well and crate trained and she does get along with the other small dogs in the foster home…and the cat too!  We have promised Momma Joni that she will never be thrown out and abandoned ever again.   She is ready for a new and loving owner to sweep her away on a little magic carpet to live happily ever after.   Is that you holding the key to her heart and forever future!?  Contact us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 26, 2023, 10:57 pm

Itsy Bitsy is one of those sweet small dogs that has lost her momma and after she passed away the remaining senior husband did not want her.  He was just never connected to her at all.  This adorable 9 pound,  12 year old black and cream colored Chihuahua with a unique stubby tail somehow came to us terrified and untrusting.  She’s had a rough time of it and requires plenty of love, patience and understanding. She’ll need some time to get over being terrified of you and a new environment when she is adopted.  When she is unsure of something she has a tendency to snap on autopilot, but it doesn’t hurt and it’s just a quick reaction. A little busybody, she will follow you around wherever you go.  If only she could talk.  Or maybe she would be dangerous if she could tell us what made her so fearful.  She is currently living with a dog and two cats and they all leave each other alone, and if could find her an only dog home she would love it.  But if not…she tolerates other animals in the home. She wants all the attention focused on her but hasn’t been getting it since being with us at Critter Cavalry Rescue. Once she trusts you, she’ll be your best friend. It will take time to get her to trust you but it will be worth it in the end.  She is housebroken, but will need pee pads for a bit getting used to a new home and routine.  Please email us if you have the heart and soul to give this girl the best last years of her life.  She has been spayed by Critter Cavalry Rescue and also received bloodwork done and a dental as well.   We have fixed up beautifully and put her on a path of good health and now the search begins to find the most unique and caring owner possible.
