Story
Meet Tiny Tim! This gentle, sweet little guy is looking for a quiet home where he can feel safe, relax, and blossom at his own pace. His foster family shares these helpful insights about him: What Tiny Tim loves: fluffy blankets, soft toys, napping on the couch, and sleeping in bed at night. Feline Friends: Tim is wonderfully gentle with cats (even those bigger than him!) and gets along great with his foster’s felines and other dogs he meets on walks. His Preferred Vibe: Tim is a low-energy, sensitive soul who thrives in a peaceful environment. Loud noises can startle him, and he isn't looking for long hikes—a few short 10-minute bathroom breaks a day suit his age and size perfectly. Building Trust: Tim takes a little time to warm up to new people before he is comfortable being handled, but it only took a couple of days to settle in with his foster. He appears to be crate trained when left alone and stays accident-free while his humans are home. Tim doesn’t have a mean bone in his body - he just needs a patient, quiet home where he can feel secure. Connect with us today to meet Tiny Tim!

Story
Meet Raul, an independent and spirited pup ready to find his forever home! Raul is currently living in a foster home and is looking for a family that understands his unique needs and can provide him with the love and attention he deserves. Raul does well with other dogs while out on walks, but his ideal home would not have resident dogs. He has a strong chase instinct with cats, so a cat-free household would be best for him. In his current foster home, Raul shares his space with two female cats, but they do not interact closely due to his tendency to lunge and bark. When it comes to being alone, Raul is quite content in a gated area or free-roaming for short periods. He's house-trained and hasn't shown any issues in that regard. While Raul is a loving companion, he can be a bit particular about being handled or picked up. Sometimes he enjoys being pet, but other times he may growl and snap. It's important to approach him with patience and respect for his boundaries. Raul has made progress in his behavior and no longer exhibits food guarding with humans. However, he still displays this behavior with the resident cats, so it's essential to feed him separately. If you're looking for an independent and spirited companion who thrives in a cat-free environment, Raul could be the perfect match for you. With the right understanding and care, Raul is sure to blossom into a loyal and loving member of your family. Don't miss out on the chance to give Raul the forever home he's been waiting for!

Story
This gorgeous girl is not quite available for adoption, but will be soon after she is done raising a family of her very own! She is currently nursing her puppies and we urgently need a maternity foster to help get her out of the stressful shelter so she can focus on giving her puppies everything they need to grow. Moms and puppies do not need a ton of space and prefer a quiet room or space to themselves as opposed to being a part of the household action; so if you've got a spare bedroom, office, bathroom or closet space where you can keep them separate from resident pets then you are perfect for maternity fostering! APA will gladly provide all supplies and give you a run down of what to expect throughout the process. We ask that maternity fosters keep mom and puppies until the puppies have weaned and started eating gruel, which is usually around 3-4 weeks of age. At that point we are able to move the puppies to new foster homes so they can start their journey towards adoption and mom as well if that is preferred. Or if you want to see the family through to adoption yourself we will gladly help you through that stage as well! Please reach out to give a family the quiet, comfy place they need during this vulnerable stage. You will get to enjoy an immense amount of puppy cuddles and joy watching them grow up. And as the foster you will get first priority for adopting mom or a puppy of your choice. Can you help a mom and her puppies by signing up to be a maternity foster today??

Story
Smokey the Bear may be small in size, but he has the heart and bravery of a true survivor. This senior Chihuahua/Terrier mix weighs just 18 pounds and has endured more than most pups ever should. He came to us with a luxated left hip, a few healing rib fractures, and several puncture wounds. He also has some age-related changes in his spine (spondylosis). But even with all that, Smokey’s gentle spirit shines through. Smokey is recovering well and eating like a champ—just make sure his meals are served on a plate or in a small metal bowl (he’s a sophisticated guy with preferences!). He gets around with determination, though smooth floors are a bit slippery for him, so rugs or textured paths help him feel secure. For the next month, Smokey will need to keep his activity low while his body heals, and a sling can help support him when he’s moving about. Despite everything he has been through, Smokey the Bear is a sweet, sensitive soul. He can be a bit nervous at first—understandable given his recent injuries—but once he realizes he’s safe, he softens and just wants gentle affection. Smokey is hoping for a calm, loving home where he can finish healing and enjoy all the comfort a senior pup deserves. He’s on several medications to help him recover and will need a recheck with the vet team in about a month. Depending on how his hip continues to heal, an FHO surgery might be considered in the future. If you believe senior dogs are treasures and want to change the life of a truly deserving little hero, Smokey the Bear will reward you with quiet companionship, gratitude, and a whole lot of heart.

Story
Copacabana Nights with Barry Manilow Her name was Lola, but your new favorite star is Barry Manilow! How can a single brown eye hold so much curiosity and warmth? This adorable 15-pound companion looks up with a beautifully textured brown and tan coat, sporting charming tan accents above his brow. He is a friendly fellow with a slightly more outgoing spirit, proving he writes the songs that make the whole world sing with joy. He walks nicely on a leash and stays close by your side, showing you that it looks like we made it to the perfect walking partnership. He also appears to be potty trained. This great little friend loves human interaction, happily rolling over onto his back for belly rubs because he can't smile without you. He is currently looking for a supportive home to care for him. Foster or adopt Barry Manilow today because oh Mandy, he needs a hero now.

Story
Merle was found by friend about two months ago and no one has responded to post or lost dog ads. I’ve been fostering this sweetie for about a month but he needs a house with a yard and someone not traveling for work. He’s a little reactive on walks but has been getting better with training. He takes some warming up to with new humans and especially kids. Once he is introduced and feels safe he loves them. He enjoys playing fetch and learning new tricks.
