You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ATDR 3764 6.25.25 UPDATE FROM BELLA'S PET SITTER: Bella is my houseguest while her foster mom is on vacation. She accepted me quickly and is very loving. She LOVES toys and snuggling in your lap. Bella can be a little bossy with the resident dogs, so she might be best as an only dog or maybe one other submissive dog in the household. She would be the perfect companion for someone looking for a calm, sweet little girl to snuggle with.                                  *****Meet Bella. She's a sweet senior chiweenie girl who came to ATDR via another rescue group. Bella was dumped at BARC by her owner, who requested she be euthanized. Bella was flea infested, missing patches of fur and was heavy heartworm positive. It hurts our hearts to know Bella was in that state of neglect as an 'owned' pet. She wasn't a stray. Bella has a heart murmur but that doesn't slow her down one bit. Bella is full of spunk. Bella will finished her last heartworm treatment and is ready for a forever home of her own. Bella is a little doll. Her foster mom says she loves having her. She is crate and house trained. Bella enjoys sunbathing outside. Even though it appears she prefers women, she enjoys being with people and gets along well with other dogs. Bella is a cuddle bug. She will make a fantastic little lap dog for some lucky adopter after she’s on the road to better health! Her ideal home would be with someone who is retired or works from home looking for a warm pup to share their comfortable chair or sofa with! Bella is a precious girl who loves her person! Please consider opening your home and your heart to this special senior baby and submit an adoption application for Bella! She’ll be the best little friend and companion you could ever hope to find! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ATDR 3656 Say hello to Mya! Her foster mom reports that this cute girl is sassy, smart and happy! She uses the doggie door out to the yard she enjoys and sleeps in her crate at night. Mya gets along with the other dogs in her foster home but has a slightly dominant personality. She will need to go to a home where there are no alpha dogs to compete with her. She also barks when she gets excited so would not be good for apartment or condo living with shared walls. If you live in a house with a yard and you're looking for a great little dog to share the good things in life with, please submit an adoption application for Mya. She's ready and waiting to be your devoted best friend and companion.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 12:37 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ATDR 3580Bella Mia says hey there! This cute little Chiweenie girl was surrendered by a family with small children because she played a little too rough with the toddler. Her original mom said that she gets excited and can nip when she plays, never biting nor meaning any harm by it. She has never shown any aggression nor nipping toward her foster mom. She’s now enjoying life in a comfortable foster home where there are only other small dogs to play with! She is the alpha dog and she will be in a forever home if there are other pets. She’ll do best in a forever home with either older calm/patient kids like teenagers or no kids at all. She does well with her foster mom and the other pups, although she’s a bit skittish by nature! The change of homes wasn’t easy for her, but she began settling in better after a week. Bella enjoys hanging out in her crate and observing by choice sometimes, and she sleeps there. She responds well to “Bella, go to your room!” looking forward to a tiny milk bone when you’d like her to go to her crate. She enjoys her meals in her crate. She does enjoy snuggling in the big chair with her foster mom and a few other pups, but doing so must be by her choice and not yours unless you merely invite her. She doesn't like to be picked up or carried around, but she responds well to voice commands. She came with a tiny wire crate she will gladly hop in if you say 'go to your room' and you must take her to the vet or on needed car trips in that. She's ptetty much pee pad trained and she's not a dog you can take on leash walks. Bella will need a patient adopter who will understand that she can be skittish and must be given time to adjust to a change in homes. She's gotten more comfortable every day in her foster home, and in time she will settle into a forever home. She’s a precious tiny baby who needs to be loved and enjoyed as she is while she learns to trust you. She's not a lot of trouble! If you're not looking for a dog to take on leash walks and pick up and carry around in your arms and would like to give little Bella the loving home she needs and deserves, please submit an adoption application for Bella Mia! With patience, she will fall in love with you and be in your lap or snuggling next to you anytime you sit down.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 10, 2026, 3:39 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ATDR 3890Say hello to Annie! This tiny Chiweenie girl was left in a backyard in a crate after her beloved person passed away. Thank goodness a kind neighbor noticed and she was taken to a local shelter, frightened and confused, to be cared for. When ATDR was contacted, our fearless leader immediately drove up there, brought her back to Houston and placed her in a loving foster home. At the shelter and in her new foster home, she's taken a few days to come out out of her shell and eat regularly and be trusting...but when she has at both places, she has been precious beyond words! She loves following her foster mom around and snuggling in the big chair with her and two other pups. She absolutely loves treats and toys to play with and she initiates play with the other dogs in the house if they are interested. She's been sleeping in a comfortable crate through the night with no complaints at all. This soft as silk baby girl just wants to be loved. She's smart and doing really well with her house training. She's a puppy and still a bit of a work in progress, but kept on a schedule of being put outside she'll learn soon. She responds to most basic verbal commands, and for her young age, she's a good little pup!If you're active and looking for a tiny treasure to steal your heart and share life with, please submit an adoption application for Annie. With kindness and a little patience, she's ready and waiting to become your best friend and companion. Being tiny with a delicate frame, she needs to be in a home where she will be handled very gently. Older kids who would know how to handle her and treat her with respect would probably be OK, but not toddlers or little ones for her to have to deal with. A securely fenced yard and someone to supervise her at all times when she's in it is a must. A doggy friend young enough to play and spend energy with one-year-old Annie will pretty much be a necessity for this active little one to be happy!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 10, 2026, 3:39 pm
