Story
My name is Toby and I’m ready to find a new “fur ever” home!  My previous owner had to give me up to SCP.  I had a broken leg but SCP took care of that!  I had surgery and now my doctor said my leg looks great and I’m ready to have some FUN!  I love playing with my toys, going on walks, and keeping my foster mom company.  She brags on me all the time about how smart I am.  I love playing in the backyard with my foster dad.   I learn fast and really want to please.  I really want some other dogs to play with.  I would play with kids too.  I will chase cats if they run but if they don’t I just ignore them.  If you are looking for a fun little guy, here I am!   If you are interested in him, please send an email to SCP at SCP Dog World <scpdogworld@gmail.com>! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review!   Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard.   Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday!August 26, 2025, 12:50 pm

Story
Hello world.... Ms. Peach here! I am a tiny, 7.5 lb, precious little girl. I was impounded and then rescued by SCP. I am very, very grateful. I am an interesting little gal. I live fine with other dogs and cats for the most part, until it comes to my ball. I am very protective of my ball. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my ball. I carry it around everywhere and I can play fetch for hours! Take my ball away and I will focus on you:) I am a sweet girl and very quiet (until a repair guy comes over!) I am crate trained and pretty well house-broken, if taken out regularly. I love to be snuggled and held. I travel very well, and I am fine with strangers:) I am a great dog! I just tend to be protective of my ball and sometimes my bed. Just something to be aware of:) If you are interested in me, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays at the Petco in Clear Lake as well. 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center. Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.November 30, 2025, 6:34 am

Story
My family and I got Alex from a friend who was leaving out of the country. We gladly took Alex when she moved in May. My husband had a heart attack in May and now has been out of work for a few months. We now unfortunately cannot afford to take care of Alex as we need to. I also have a baby who is now walking. It would be great if someone can take Alex in. Alex is a long haired chihuahua. He is quiet, but barks occasionally and does well around kids. He likes to walk though he is an older dog. We are hoping to get him re-homed immediately. He comes we with lots of doggy accessories as well. He seems to have some ongoing issues with his stools as he has been going inside even after walking him. We don't have the money to take him to the vet as I stated earlier. We did take him to his shots about a month ago. He also has two more months of heartworm and flea medicine. He comes with a cage, dog carrier and food. Alex is a great dog, we just don't have the means to take care of him.

Story
Meet Spike! Spike had a rough life before he was rescued. Due to those past circumstances Spike is fearful of new people. It can be hard to tell through all his growling and snarling, but all Spike really wants is to be loved. His ‘aggression’ is 100% fear, which can be overcome with patience and the right person. Spike does not like men or boys of any age. However, he does warm up to most women with time. He’s also a one person kind of dog. So if you’re a single woman with no family or friends and no plans to get any, You might be perfect for Spike!! Here’s what to expect: Day 1-30ish - Spike will hide from you day and night. When you make eye contact he will growl and snarel. Even when you bring him food and treats Day 31 - 45 Spike will start growling less and will start coming up to you, poke you in the leg with his nose, then run away. Try not to make eye too much eye contact. Day 45 - 55 Spike will start to snuggle with you under the covers at HIS leisure. Do not touch YET!!! Day 55 - 70 Spike will start to take treats from your hand then run away. Eye contact is ok-ish. Little scratches on his head are allowed. Day 70 - 90 Spike will let you pick him up, but will scream the whole way up. He will start to wag his tail when he sees you and when you come home. A few snuggles above the covers may happen. Day 90 - if you can hang in through all that, he’s yours forever!!! At this point he will be running to you for hugs and kisses If you’re up for this 90 day plan for unconditional love and companionship, apply for Spike today.BONUS: Spike likes other dogs. And once you get through your 90 day Spike boot camp, he’s a pretty easygoing dog. Spike will spend most of his time take naps and snuggling in your lap.

Story
Izzie, a 7-year-old dog, is notable for being exceptionally loving and possessing a unique ability to establish bonds with her primary individuals with ease. While she may exhibit initial wariness around unfamiliar persons, Izzie may not be the optimal choice for families with small children. At the time of her rescue, Izzie had just given birth to four puppies. Following her previous owner`s passing, a neighbor took on the responsibility of caring for Izzie and her puppies, with the intention of securing a permanent home. Izzie has proven to be compatible with other dogs and cats, although she may flourish best as the sole canine companion. She displays an intense capacity to focus on her primary caregiver, typically developing profound devotion. Please consider providing Izzie with a forever home within your family.
